I think the kid would jam the cogs and die along with the people on the train. The guy tried but still failed and has to question himself the rest of his life. What he does know is that Jesus loves him and sacrificed himself for him. He came to realize there is a greater purpose than serving himself and went on a mission the rest of his life. Amen
The main difference here, is that Christ actually laid his life down willingly. The kid would have went on purpose to bring the train down, to save the people.
