Re coyote language, I didn't mention it in the video, but the night I was at the Whitewater campsite on the Foothills Trail, I was awakened in the night by coyotes calling (to each other, I assume) from three different locations. I was struck by how distinct their calls were. It was really cool. I appreciate your Memorial Day message. Hey, Happy Birthday, and may your next half-century be even better than your first! 53:50 Omg that's so beautiful, especially early in the morning. Nice little outing, I enjoyed it. And I learned there are some sweet, sweeet campsites on that trail.
Coyotes have a very diverse language, there are a couple documentaries about them that are fascinating. Thank you, at 50 I feel like I'm just getting started lol.
So yeah that road totally wasn't there when I did the north loop last. It is nice to see how good the trail is being maintained these days. They are doing a nice job with it.
Did the north loop last Wednesday in the thunderstorms! This trail is absolutely beautiful! So many well-defined campsites, perfectly blazed and very well maintained! I absolutely love this trail! In the video at the 22-minute part you pass the less used campsite some bone head actually had a campfire in the middle of the trail. It was put out but definitely fresh! The campsite on the north tip by the water (Painter creek) is amazing! I can't get over how few rocky areas there are compared to the TST. Can't wait to go back in the fall when its cooler out.
That's one of the harder things to explain to people about the Pinchot Trail, There aren't any vistas or big views but it's the forest itself that is the "vista". A campfire on the trial is no big surprise, more so on the south loop there are official campsites that the trail goes directly through.
Did that trail a few weeks ago. Love that southern section of Choke creek and the falls. You had lots of warblers on your trip!
That stretch along Choke Creek is probably the most scenic section 90% of the year, during the fall with all the colors the entire loop is amazing.

I thought the road looked really new. Yeah, the KTA is doing a good job with the Pinchot.
