Yes, I love my 5.7 D. Mine is the facelift, and I love the looks of it compared to what came after. I also like that it was a proper truck platform, unlike the Gen 3 which is not really a truck.
My grandparents bought a '04 Hemi with AWD brand new. They didn't keep it long because they ended trading their travel trailer for a fifth wheel. But, boy was that a nice truck!
As an owner of one of these rigs, i had to like :). I will say honestly 16 spark plugs and cheap suspension/steering components are kind of a negative (mpgs, not to mention 😅) to the otherwise abundance of positives, and yes the hemi is a fun engine. :)
Yes, the only thing I really hate are those ridiculous spark plugs and coils (so stupid). Put some good Bilstein or KYB shocks on it and it really changes the way the suspension feels.
0:53 The all-new 2004 Dodge Durango looks like it's coming! Coming with a more aggressive stance, a refined interior, and improved performance, Dodge aims to make the Durango a top contender in the full-size SUV market.
I love how motorweek is very random with their body roll tests. I've seen some roll like crazy and they say it's light or moderate, but others that barely lean, they say it has a lot of body roll. Also they use 2 different slalom setups. If you notice, they flip flop the cones on some so their slalom in a bunch of videos have sharper turns than others. So they end up comparing body roll and how much understeer or oversteer cars have with each other, but they aren't fair comparisons since some were pushed way harder.
The 4.7 was probably worse honestly. The 3.7L rams were quicker than my 08 4.2L V6 f150 on every video ive seen. And my f150 was quicker than all 3 4.7L rams I drove. I pulled 4000lbs across the country with that f150 and it did great. Had a rating of 5500lbs. The ram had trouble moving itself, as did my ex girlfriend's 4.7L ram. I will never buy a 4.7L again.
Agreed. I remember when these and the new generation Dakota came out in 2005. They should’ve just refreshed the old generation and kept it going. They looked much better. This Durango especially looks big and bloated.
@@PamelaBellOfficialThe 2005 Dakota was definitely much better looking than the Durango in my opinion. I preferred the 05-07 over the 08 facelift. But yes, the 97 Dakota is also a very nice looking truck.
I liked the first gen's look. This thing kinda looked like it needs an epi-pen. I worked for CHrysler when these came out. A lot of us were like... um... The Aspen was nice, cheapy interiors,
I love this generation of the Durango. It looks really muscular and different.

We sold our 06 with 375k. Best vehicle we will ever have
@@leehancock2782 wow

This Durango makes me think of my work friend Roy, who drives a dark blue one and yes it has a Hemi.
“Well regarded 4.7l V8”
Well regarded by who, exactly?
Its an old AMC design, but it checks out.

Mine wants to rot away to nothing. Still drives great we love it, our #3 vehicle doesn't see much action anymore. Owned since 2011

They test and evaluate cars/SUVs/trucks in relation to their competitors rather than to vehicles in different classes
@@davewilson7602 ok that explains the comparison a bit but the slalom is still not correct lol.
These with the base 3.7 V6 would lose a 0-60 race to a sloth. It would be hilarious trying to tow 3700 lbs.

They never said it will be fast with a 3700 lb trailer, they said it can get it moving.
It's interesting to see how people taste so dramatically differ , To me it looks like a huge, bloated minvan.

I think the 09 Durangos look great
Yeah we call ours the gargoyle, looks like some kind of frog but it drives great. The hemi is still pulling well.
it was a sweet ride! best v8 back then
I love my 2005 Durango but it’s rotting around my sweet sounding hemi..
Just like ours. We've had it since 2011 relegated to hauling just sits to much but we love it and still hang on to it
I love my Durango! It has 220,000 miles on it and is still going!
Sadly my dads recently just gave up after years of dying and coming back
@@Coolguy10iguess aww that’s a bummer!
My dad had one of these with the Hemi thing was a beast
