Hello my friend! it's amazing! It's wonderful video! Thank you for showing us the wonderful camping! Nature is very beautiful! It's wonderful! Nice upload! And it's great high quality video! I really like it! Thank you for sharing! Have a nice day!
Cheers Steven and thank you again for giving me a pointer in the right direction. The walking above Ben Crom reservoir on the way to Slieve Bearnagh is fantastic 👍👍😊
Wow, gerry their was a lot in this one. All I'll say is I enjoyed your outing up there in the Mournes. Shame about the fire. And hey I reckon that crafty fox is still after your rucksack. Ha ha! Good going - mice little spot to get your head down. Mark
Cheers Mark, it could well have been the same one🦊 The fire was terrible and whatever the cause will hopefully get people thinking more about how they use and respect the outdoors. Still seeing lots of pics of abandoned campsites over here in Ireland with everything just left for others to clear up! Take care😊
@@gerrymcveigh It might have been gerry. Yeah, I heard about that fire on the news. A poor sign for the future. Mind you it was started by humans your suggesting. Terrible as are those abandoned sites. People are ill. I will take care - you to.
I always look forward to your trade mark Mourne B roll, it really gives a lovely perspective of each step of the hike. Ive taken note of that little pitch, think my little Fjallraven backpacking tent would fit well there, great wee find. Looking to get up more to the high Mourne this season so there will not be much by way of gourmet cooking lol ,couple of boil in the bags and a pot noodle or two !! Certainly was a chilly night for sure.. Ive a few sleeping mat options but I always manage to get my best sleep on the Exped, great mat. Really enjoyed this one. ATB Ps thx for the shoutout !!
There is nothing like a big deep sleeping mat in cold conditions, I find it really makes difference to a warmer and more comfortable sleep. It is a great wee spot with loads of room. I was there on a Friday night so not sure if I would have had it all to myself at the weekend. Sorry but I just can't imagine you eating pot noodles!😊
Amazing video Gerry, and you really got into the heart of the Mournes. Your wild camping is something I could never do but much respect to you for now you do it. Regards, Ashley
Cheers Sean, I got the idea from Steven Forde who shared some pics of the western slopes above Ben Crom. A great area and very quiet - didn't see another person along that stretch. Always more exploring to do😊
Fantastic Gerry, the Devils Coach Road looks spectacular I've never been and the view's around Ben Crom were beautiful, I'm heading up Bearnagh on Monday weather permitting, I've never been up the Tors look class.
It is fantastic taking some time to properly explore the tors around the summit of Bearnagh and the different views, including over to Ben Crom. I hope you get a good day😊
Y If you are talking about the bottom you can walk in along the Annalong Valley from Carrick Little to below Slieve Beg or can drop down off the Brandy Pad into the Annalong Valley to the same place. If you are talking about the top you want to head for Slieve Beg - again this can be accessed form numerous starting points - either Carrick Little, Newcastle or even Trassey.
@@gerrymcveigh cheers Jerry, I'm staying at the glamping pod's in Carrick Little at the foot of Binnian in a few weeks time with the kids I'll do reccy then.
Great Saturday evening viewing Gerry! New angles for me of the Mournes showcasing their magic. Looking forward to a visit again in the near future. Delighted you found a winner on the performance of the extra socks! Bring on the third wild camp of 2021 🙂
Cheers Andrew, Ben Crom really is at the heart of the Mournes and is spectacular from all sides. It was great to cover new ground and visit some of the less trodden areas👍😊
Great Job Gerry.. you can see the happiness in you.. it's so great to finally be hitting the hills. Haven't done the Mourne Mountains yet so it's on my list. Nice job man. Great video. 🙌
Looks like it was a smashing couple of days out Gerry, and thanks for sharing the film. What backpack are you using do you mind me asking, I'm in the market for a new one and yours looks quite neat. Thanks again Gerry.
Cheers Cormac. I am currently using an Osprey Talon 44 and a Marmot Gravition 34. Both can fit all my gear for an overnight. The Osprey has that little extra space if needed and would be the choice if I am thinking of a 2 nighter at some stage - it would allow for the extra food. I think I got both from the Sportpursuit site with a good bit of saving👍
Cheers, my sleeping bag is pretty old. It is a Mountain Equipment zero350 down sleeping bag with a recommended sleep zone of +20 to -5. It is light and packs down small and has stood me well lover the years.
Great video, my friend! Enjoyed watching your trip, your bushcraft skills are terrific! And the surrounding nature is amazing. Cheers from Russia, Gerry, and welcome to my channel about Russian bushcraft tips and secrets! Kind regards, Yuriy!

Brilliant detailed video Gerry... right down to making a cup of tea, Ginger Nut biscuits and making your porridge!! Amazing views... 1st Class!
Cheers Paul, tea, ginger nuts and porridge are essential ingredients to any good wild camping trip😊
Thanks for sharing, it is always nice to see you hiking. 👍
Cheers Markus, it is great to be out hiking as often as possible to clear the mind from clutter and be present in the outdoors😊
Another great video Gerry, with amazing views.
Cheers Steven and thank you again for giving me a pointer in the right direction. The walking above Ben Crom reservoir on the way to Slieve Bearnagh is fantastic 👍👍😊
Really enjoyed that one Gerry, tks
Cheers Mick, high above Ben Crom has to be one of the most beautiful and quiet areas in the Mournes for walking👣👍
