BRIAN ,....Just love this lesson! Been playing since I was 5, and plateau every few years. Last year I have been living in Kieth Richards zone which has been great! Actually very easy stuff, when you get your bearings, when you get your footing. But,... I'm a life long Texan and country sensibilities will never leave me, (probably why I like Kieth so much, and Willie, and Dylan, and the CLASH). THIS lesson has unlocked a very quick and easy path to all those phrases, licks, walks, etc, that are the colloquial standards,
all those that are so comfortably familiar to my ear, (as a guy that's been going to Ginny's Little Longhorn Saloon, The Continental Club, The Broken Spoke, Antone's, (and recently , The White Horse) over the last 30 years. This beauty of a lesson is so valuable to an old fart that has always found joy and solace in hanging out with a guitar. Thanks so much. Great channel 👊

I still get more from seeing great instructions.

I have to say that you have just taught me more in the last couple of minutes than most other guys in the last 25 years. no body ever shows you the simple things that are a must know. its very hard to find guys who can teach me things that are useful in my country to me. Ireland has a different style of country with different beats than american. it would be great if you could look at some of this and do a lesson based on the difference between them. thank you very much for your help

Having been an AM site member for a few years now its so nice to come back to a lesson that you liked but found hard to play and connect the dots to and now listen and then instantly be able to play half of it immediately and understand where all the parts are coming from the shapes and scales they are all connected to etc. Progress on guitar is so slow sometimes but then you realize...hey I have learned alot

Brian, nice melody. I bought a TELE Squier 40th anniv Edition not long ago, and had a Certano G & B Bender installed on it. Eases up on some bends! The Fender also came with very crappy and inferior Tuner machines, so I am getting them replaced.....can pick up the Gtr today from my Luthier. And now will have a BEEF with Sweetwater over that issue, the Luthier's invoice, as they allowed a Gtr to leave IN in that condition as a NEW Gtr. Got some song and dance from them thus far, as they said their new policy is NO 55-PT Inspection on Gtrs below $399. I got it on sale in DEC for $360, but it's "VALUE", it's LP, is $600. My Luthier said the original crap machines probably cost $25-30. Sweetwater did send me FREE replacement machines...but to me, shoulda never left their store. So now we'll haggle over "priced at" vs "Valued at". I've owned Fenders on and off for over 40 yrs, and to me, with their present quality, NO more Fenders for me. I just urge Caution to your subscribers, of which I am one. I had a 2012 American Strat that I got rid of when I bought a PRS SE Custom 24, a better guitar for LESS. ENJOY your VIDEOS Brian!

This is a really great lesson, and possibly by accident, a really good lesson on how guys like Bill Frisell would approach a tune like this, playing out of the chords, or what those guys refer to as "chord tones." Either way, great lesson.

First of all, that Telecaster is Beautiful! It reminds me of the new Ultra Burst I just bought! Second, nothing NOTHING sounds like a Tele! It can cry like a steel, honky tonk like Nashville, or jam out Classic Rock! I had a beautiful American Stratocaster in chrimson transparent red, and I've got an epi Les Paul with perfect intonation in honey sunburst that sounds amazing. But my Ultra Telecaster in Ultra Burst will do anything I want and add a tone you just can't make an Amp do with another guitar. Love your guitar work by the way!

For the amount of effort I am able to devote to my guitar work, the Tele just feels like a committed partner in my quest . (Have a '86 reissue of that '69 aquamarine/turquoise "flower Tele". My dad taught me how to play guitar in the. late 60s..om the high E string. He called it picking it out. Friends though the years showed me Chet Atkin.licks and other things. My way of learning a song is to. listen to the song or hear just a little...say 4 notes...and.by experience you can have most of a song. Many times..just knowing the chord structure of one song helps us learn many songs. E.g.. Love me tender by Elvis..if played in C. goes to D.. The notes telegraph the chord.. The later the C chord is played is played and we go to E. The C chord ( C E G) .goes to E. (E G# B) The.note E is the 3 of. the C chord and the and the.1 of the E.chord. It eventually can switch to F.and then Fmin and then C. Much to be learned by the.chords themselves. All this is.obvious to experienced musicians..but it it may help some beginners.
