I want to build something like this for my daughter to learn and play with. What kind of media do you recommend for something child safe and more resistant to erosion but still moves?
I would recommend Emriver media... and am not alone in this. Here's a DIY blog we frequently refer folks to: www.mrhollisterphoto.com/stream-table.html Other than that, the most commonly used sediment is playground sand. We do not advise sand for use in our models because it is heavy (doesn't move well), visually bland, and can damage pump mechanisms if it gets past whatever filtration.
