I think that attack is the most fucked up attack in this game tbh. Huge damage, roll catches you on light roll unless you are unlocked and roll straight left, hits 360 degrees (although you can low profile the first swing if you are exactly behind him and grinding on him), can do it as a combo ender for many flowcharts and from neutral so it kills so much potential aggression the player can have, and I think it may be faster than Noble Presence/belly WoG.
People be like: yooo elden ring bosses deal too much damage Also them: Radagons Soreseal, never heard of Ritual Shield, never heard of Dragoncrest Greatshield or Elemental Damage defense Talismans
Massive congratulations on this one. This fight is insane on challenge runs. I actually like this fight quite a bit (much better than O&S imo) but I’d never have the patience for something like this. You could definitely have been more aggressive in that last part but I can’t exactly blame you for playing it safe.

O and S are just you kiting Ornstein while Smough endlessly does running charges like an idiot. My favorite ds3 fight is Demon princes, which is a gank fight but they are basically identical. I think Noble and apostle are wayyyy better bosses than O and S that are annoying af as a duo fight, BUT I think that people like the idea of O&S because they like the idea of an asymmetrical duo boss that compliments each other. I really want that too but imo we have never gotten that. Fride and ariandel are bleh It's kind of the dark souls 2 effect, people love the idea of it, but it wasn't really well realized

O&S are unique to the boss fight while GSD are two bosses slapped together because they share half their name. Well done beast. When I did the duo no hit sometimes ripostes just don't go through because the stupid fucking floor doesn't have consistent elevation. There's more bullshit to this fight than you've already experienced.
Eh I've gotten used to it and I have enough recovery on even the jumping and charged R2 to dodge it still. Phase 2 has an audio cue as well but I think its more of just being ready for it anytime he's about to go into neutral/ends his recovery animation from a previous attack
re:Around 4 minutes in/challenge runs, totally agree. I remember being amazed at the concept of a hitless or RL1 run after my first playthrough which was like 200 hrs and level 175. Until I watched one and saw them just nuke /cheese every boss. I understand it's still impressive but not nearly as impressive as I had imagined. Kind of a let down tbh.. I eventually did end up doing a RL1 run and didn't really use any cheese or meta weapons (or sleep pots), just primarily the uchi (which I upgraded). I did do a lot of prebuffing and practice to get through Gideon before he had a chance to magic spam, and I did make hearty use of talisman and flask swap outs though to max damage and defense depending on the situatuon, so what you are doing here is significantly more challenging.
I'm losing my mind. Fighting them with a straight sword without doing the strafing memes feels impossible, I really wish apostle had one more attack opening edit: they're dead, I also got cucked out of a stagger on apostle near the end
What causes the dropped inputs when strafing under the Apostle's jump? I've noticed how frequently it happens myself. That and jump attacking over Maliketh's claw attacks seem to eat so many inputs for seemingly no reason. I wish I knew the stipulation which causes it; I'd be able to avoid it if that was the case.
So my theory is that they ham fisted some sort of fix to prevent stance swap glitches from happening like in previous games and the network test, because it seems to happen most often when you pivot and when you crouch. Previous games had input dropping too but it was much rarer. Imo input dropping is the number one cardinal sin of this game.

The belly wog is absolutely fucked. It doesn't feel like it was properly tested. Even Radagon's fastest attacks feel way way more reactable.
