Though the Street Fighter character turned out to be a Sawa-"dud" , I'm glad he's still doing his thing and that Capcom didn't remove him from the canon
I always figured the reason they didn’t include Fei Long was just because he was clearly based on Bruce Lee and making casting choices for roles like that are probably pretty tricky. Also my like mini theory is that they had originally wanted Brandon Lee to play Fei Long when they were in the early planning stages and, after they learned of his death, decided to scrap the character entirely out of respect.
Honestly, having a military dude with a cool ass sword would've been a nice addition to the Street Fighter roster. Feels like he could've easily stood out from Rolento and Sodom by not being an asshole or a weeaboo. Maybe someone at Capcom is crazy enough to add him in Street Fighter 6. Another potential reason that Fei Long could have been excluded is that Fei Long is a homage to Bruce Lee and his mannerism and appearance bare a sting resemblance to the actor, and maybe having a character so close to Bruce Lee’s likeness could have brought up some legal issues

*Crapcom:* "Casting this man as Ryu will boost his career!" *Also Crapcom:* is complacent with making Guile the protagonist of the movie This is the type of thinking that lead to Crapcom throwing out George Romero's faithful adaptation of Resident Evil in favor of Paul W.S. Anderson's abominations
@@Clay3613 No, everything I've seen said it was Crapcom's fault. Besides, as the IP owners, they get the final say in every major decision, such as the movie's plot and characters.
If I could have a crack at the Sawada is Fei Long theory, I'd say Capcom was uncomfortable having Sawada playing a Heel character such as Fei Long since Sawada was used to portraying Ryu and would look really bad for marketing. The Captain role was the compromise to allow Sawada to act in the movie, but as a face-leaning character.
I always thought that Guy was supossed to be Feilong. But they all called him by his Last Name. He even did Feilongs Winning Pose at the End of the Movie.
I’m only now realising that both the Street Fighter movie and the Mortal Kombat movie (the 1st one) both end in a freeze frame of the characters doing one of their signature victory poses, from the games.
I got the dvd of this long after it had come out but I knew of the infamy the movie carried. When I watched it, I had no idea who Sawada was as I had never heard of him every in the longest list of Street Fighter characters that I can remember. One thing that stuck out to me was just how weird the ADR sounded on him since he is obviously dubbed but from the way he acts, I feel like he may have sounded better with his natural voice. I think the best thing about it though is that Capcom does officially recognize him as a character in the main series even if he's not a playable one. I like that. And it's funny you mention the bit about Sawada being given such a small role. According to rumor, this may have been the reason Vega's appearance in the movie was so weird because the word is his actor couldn't speak English so they either had him speak with the mask, had him speak off screen or dubbed him.
I swear that I am the only person on the planet who wants to own a cabinet of the arcade game. It's fun to see people finally catching on to how busted and fun it is after all these years.

I feel like Saturday Night Slam Masters is an underrated gem for the Snes.
8:35 i came to the conclusion that Brazil always has to appear on a Whang video
Whang!, Leon Lush, GG, and Quinn Curio: the only UA-camrs I ignore the SKIP ADS button for.
It’s be hilarious that aside from the Chinese guy (Byron Mann) already playing a Japanese character. They could really push the Japanese guy (Sawada) to play Fei Long, a Chinese character.
Where you get those 5 tiny screens/ monitors at? I would love to have some myself. ( They are the one hanging on the cabinet or wall kind of dark cant tell. )
*Crapcom:* "Casting this man as Ryu will boost his career!"
*Also Crapcom:* is complacent with making Guile the protagonist of the movie
This is the type of thinking that lead to Crapcom throwing out George Romero's faithful adaptation of Resident Evil in favor of Paul W.S. Anderson's abominations
That wasn't Capcoms fault, it was the production company that had the rights to the RE movie at the time...they didn't understand the game.
@@Clay3613 No, everything I've seen said it was Crapcom's fault. Besides, as the IP owners, they get the final say in every major decision, such as the movie's plot and characters.
@AT Productions I fail to see how Romero's version could be bad, especially compared to Anderson's crap.
@@otaking3582 Diary of the Dead would like a word.
@@otaking3582 watch any movie he make afthe 1992
The lost media videos are honestly my favorite video from this channel.
So after beers, now it is "1 Liter Cough Syrup"???
Take a shot everytime Whang says Rai-yoo
"it sucked but i liked it" is basically how i feel about the super mario bros movie
That's me with a lot of childhood movies.
@Heavy Metal Collector Who's judging you those movies sucked
If you like movies like that, and on the topic of Street Fighter, I'd highly recommend Future Cops. It's a masterpiece. Completely indescribable by any other word
That's how I feel about the Sonic movie.
Everybody walk the Dinosaur
My least favorite thing is when people come and comment just specifically to shit on you bro. You’re an awesome content creator and seem to be a morally sound and enjoyable person. Thanks dude-love your videos and format. Thanks.
