Good to see you back on both channels 🙂 I personally don't care if the camera moves around or the editing isn't polished I just like seeing an Aussie bloke showing what he's working on and some of the solutions you come up with on those projects. Thanks for sharing great stuff 👍
Just a suggestion about mouldy paint. A long while back as a cheap alternative that works very well.. Paint with an oil based enamel with a bit of diesel fuel fungicide added. We used Alginox, it was made by Inox, but they dont do it anymore. (It's like 1 to 200 parts) Look around and you'll find something similar. Enjoy the boat. Cheers
Once the affected plywood is relatively dry, "Boat Life" or "5200" that effectively dries on moist surfaces, and smeared over the questionable section and then a shallow screwed marine plywood "plate" would cover the abraded area. Looking forward to new videos... especially enjoy watching you and your dad working together... a great "vibe" between you two.
thanks Tim, great to see you back on the boat....you have me worried its been 3 months since I have been to mine, dead keen to get out but as you say life. You're looking rested and relaxed, enjoy the boat over summer.
Hi Tim, so good to see you back on the boat. I am looking forward to whatever you deliver on UA-cam even a couple of videos a year as your schedule allows, would be fantastic.
To help stop the interior mould try some silica gel beads distributed throughout the boat in flat aluminium bbq trays, works well in caravans that are left closed up.When the beads are wet tou can put the trays on the roof to dry in the sun and repeat the process as many times you like.
Hi Tim, long time viewer from North Avoca, NSW. You are a great content creater and engaging presenter. Love your work mate and gods country you live in ! Handy on the tools, recently retired and up for free labour on the hard stand.
Thanks for the kind words mate, she will be going up on the slips again in the not to distant future so there may be a opportunity to help out if people want to and are available.
There are a few others in my local mooring area that look like they need some attention also. It's very easy to lose track of time and they slip into disrepair so quickly
Shout out from Indianapolis Indiana USA. I was excited to see a new post on the boat. Your content is always interesting and informative. We get it...Life happens so take your time...we'll be here when you're able to post again. All the Best!
Hi Tim, I look forward to your next video, I suggest that first you find out where the water is getting in and seal it temporarily, the next job should be to paint the new rear roof to prevent UV damage before the fiberglass breaks down, sanding and painting over the mold isn't a good move, treat and kill it first then break your jobs into smaller ones otherwise it can be overwhelming if you look at all the jobs as one and you won't know where to start, pick the small jobs off one at a time and before long it will be sorted.
Hi mate, the water is mostly getting in from around the back doors. I haven't finalised all the trim surrounds and weather striping to make them water tight. It's my next major job to do along with the roof that your dead right needs painting ASAP
Hello. One way to be free from mold is to use a little tea tree oil, you can have some in a little cup in the cabin and it will keep the mold away. Also mix a little tea tree oil with water and put it in a spray bottle, spray all surface once a year, keeps the mold away also.
Great to see you back. I grew up on Lake Macquarie and there were boats like yours in the 70’s and 80’s. It’s good to see the efforts you go through. There are many like me that really enjoy your videos. I know you put a lot of time and thought into making the videos. If you get silly people commenting please ignore them because many of us appreciate what you are doing.
I'm fortunate enough to not have too many negative comments on most of my videos. I will admit they took their toll over the time but the good far outweigh the bad.
Always had all our support Tim, obviously pleased to see you back. I hope you can manage your expectations from the project list of jobs balanced with having some fun out on the boat with the family. Cheap table salt in marg tubs always worked for me on boats, caravans ect. Once hard break it up and keep reusing, mate you've got some work there but looking forward in seeing the progress. All the best Tim 🇬🇧🍻
Really good to see the interest rekindled ..... I missed my regular dose of "Harper's Wisdom". I look forward to successive episodes, even if they are irregular, they are INTERESTING and ENJOYABLE, allowing me to live boating life vicariously through you. Keep up the great work.
Great to see you back. You look so well from your time off. Take things easy, we don’t need a video a week with your health paying for it. Enjoy yourself, your family & life. The rest will take care of itself. Love & blessings 🙏 When you have a moment that BIG BMW engine you were rebuilding would super charge my embroidery machine just nicely 🤣🤣🤣
Glad you’re back on both channels Tim, I started watching your channel when you bought the boat and loved it. Take your time do it right 👍. Looking forward to the diesel upgrade .
Thanks mate and thanks for sticking around. I have started making plans for the diesel repower but need a few more stars to align in order to make it work.
Great to see you back Tim and good to see the old girl still floating!! Dry the bilge out and I am suggesting that wood stuff you mentioned and then maybe sealing the whole lot with some form of estopol or paint and of course a new bilge pump. Looking forward to the next episode mate. :)
just a thought, i have been following "travels with Geordie" and he seldom seals both sides of timber as his logic is, any moisture that gets in, needs to get out and therefore, sealing both sides would mean any moisture that did get in a hidden crack etc, would have nowhere to go. kinda makes sense to me anyway :) definitely fill the area of concern with an epoxy filler. Frank from Syd, soon to be Port Stephens, fingers crossed
I have had very mixed advice on sealing the entire bilge as it stops the timber from breathing. I need to do something with the cracked section but the rest I think I will leave in painted and focus on keeping it dry
Hi Tim. It was an absolute pleasure to meet you. Hope you got some good drone footage, and thanks for the tips. It's great to see a new video from you. I'm glad you all got back home safe and sound. Cheers, mate. Bernie, from the cliff.
Hey Bernie, It was a pleasure meeting you also and I'm glad you found your way to this video mate. We had a fantastic time down your way and saw some fantastic things along the way. Bay of islands was indeed we worth going to. Yep all home safe and planning some adventures out in the boat now. If you ever make it up this way send me a message, be happy to meet up again. Cheers P.s did you go and look at the boat you were talking about?
That's excellent! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I must say you got out of there just in time, though, as the weather turned very bad just afterwards. I'm planning on doing a lap of Australia around 2026 so very likely to get in touch at some point. Yeah, that boat sold within hrs of me showing you the ad. It had 'pending' on it, so i knew someone had gotten onto it very quick. I look forward to seeing more videos mate. Cheers.
Onya Tim!! Just do a vid whenever you feel like it. If you start putting a load on yourself to put them out then the fun will disappear and you'll find yourself swimming through sand! So don't do that... just flick out a vid whenever you like -- we'll still be here 😀
For mould, try trichlor tablets. The big ones for those floaty things in pools. Many boaties swear by them, cheap too. I have mine in old ice cream containers. We have a Cat so i have one in each hull and one in the saloon. Its knocked out the smell of the loo too. We have sea water flush loo. Some say be careful as it can be a bit fumey if its been a while with out airing out, but so far its been good for us.
I will have a look around and see what I can find. I think in the short term the best way to fix the mould is to just clean it and use the boat more to allow it to air out.
Hi Tim, Great to see you back mate. Well worth me checking back on a regular basis. Thanks for keeping up with the vids always appreciated when you put one up. Hope you and your family are well, will look forward to the next one and hopefully on your other channel as well.
Yeah I was a little concerned with how low she was sitting. Would take a whole lot more than that to sink her but with broken pumps it would only be a matter of time
The automatic have a limited service life, and if debris gets caught in the pump, the electronics cook. Having a back up pump on another battery circuit is a good idea.
Glad your back you should get a white board and make a dot point list of wor in order of importance and stick to it also ask for volunteers to help on a weekend or two ,I'm sure someone retired could do some work for you .cheers from Rick in Sydney 😂😂
Your dead right about making a list in priority order and sticking to it. I have a bad habit of getting distracted by the quick easy jobs that probably aren't as important as other things.

So good to see you again, looks like life is treating you well young man. As for the boat the older they get the more TLC they need, but she's in capable hands with you. Just out of curiosity did you finish the diesel engine that was intended for the bout. Till next time Gary 🇬🇧🇬🇧
Hi Gary, life has been good mate. Yep I certainly did finish the BMW diesel, it's sitting in the corner of the shed wrapped up waiting for the right time to get installed.
Good to see you back on the boat Tim 👍 Why wasnt the second pump moving water when you connected it? Was there a petcock closed or blocked? Maybe the main pump burnt itself out trying to move water when it couldnt? Cheers mate 🤙
Clean all surfaces with vinegar and water to kill mould prior to painting surfaces. Otherwise you will come back and all your good paint paint work will be mouldy again. Try adding some anti mould liquid to the paint. I’m like you I hate water in my boat and I’m anal making sure it doesn’t happen. Cheers Paul!
I have installed a new Rule unit now so fingers crossed that sticks around for a while. I'm now fully focused on stopping the fresh water from getting in, especially now I can see it starting to take a toll on the hull timbers. It really made me wake up and realised that if I don't fix it then I will lose the boat.
Good to see ya again Tim. 😅 Ya looking well other than ya bilge being a bit soggy timber like.😮 Yeah I gave 2 pumps in mine 1 from battery itself and other on seperate battery and solar 😅. If you had two pumps with the main one as low as possible and the second mounted a couple of inches higher then if the lower one failed the higher one would take over when the bilge water rose enough. Nice to see you back but.
I would also like to reiterate my wish to come down (from Brisbane) with camper for a 3- or 4-day work session on the boat. I'm athome, bored, and looking for stuff to do. My wife works during the week but (long) weekends are fine.
What the Johnny!! I couldn’t believe it when I saw another episode. Well done I’m so glad , again love your work and welcome back! Cheers Paul

Good to see you back , mate, for the mould , wash down with vinegar, or anything with acidic acid , it kills the mould spores..
