Brilliant drummer. No surprise Danny's hero and inspiration was Neil Peart. Danny played with Alex and Geddy recently at the Taylor Hawkins tribute concert. Brilliant
Live tool footage is a rare gem, live in concert you don't get these shots and you forget humans are even on stage...we've waited over a decade for a video like this
They are such a tight band. Perfectly on cue with such intensity and precision. Hard to do with such crazy tempo changes. Progressive rock at its finest
“It went by so quickly.” Time does not pass while you’re listening to Tool. It is conceivable to achieve immortality by creating/playing a mix wherein there are no gaps between their songs.
You know how on point he is, when you know, that Tool does not ues any click tracks or something like that live. Danny is their meter they are all listening to.
It's difficult for someone that doesn't know this song inside and out, to appreciate how accurate they're playing the studio recording...It's a lost art among so many bands; the great ones do it right...
@@bigmanpigman3436I'll take your word for it; "Just a hair" in a live situation is easily overlooked...:)...As a drummer for over 45 years, but unpracticed in this song; I can't say you're not right...:)...
That polyrithmic madness part is pure hypnosis. Tool are masters in hypnotizing, putting you in a trance and trapping you in their web. It's just incredible. And this reaction is one of the best in UA-cam, i love watch your reactions guys, keep doing this great work.
I fell in love with drums a couple months ago & already played guitar. I watched this video because of the commentary pauses to listen & learn to play it on the drums and it just worked well.
So glad that you decided to do this! Glad you both were amazed by it. I have watched it a few times now. And it never gets old. It actually gets more impressive each time! He is a master! Thanks for this video!
I'm glad someone showed me this performance. It was pretty wild to watch. Fortunately, someone showed me Tool not to long ago too, so I had already heard this song before.
Maaaan, Nick is smooth AF and Alexia is SO PRETTY, you guys were so obviously made for each other. What a fantastic reaction as always, glad you guys were finally able to check this out, it's a drummer masterclass.
It's a pleasure to watch an artist at work. I had heard Danny Carey was good, and that he was a Neil Peart 'devotee', but this was great to watch. And that was the first Tool song I have ever heard right through, and I loved it. I shall now look up all your Tool reactions guys and enjoy them with fresh ears! Lots of love Richard xx
First time hearing Tool, and wow, thanks! What is it about Los Angeles that allows them to have so many great bands? When I researched the bands I love from this century, chances are they were from L.A. Uncanny. I guess that's where the starmaker machinery resides. Love me a drummer who understands dynamics, and can play beautifully when playing softly. Kids are all about noise. Mister Carey has a mature developed ear that respects ours. Yumyo.

Hi Guys, Brilliant, hypnotic, mesmerizing to watch and the music, Pneuma live ! Wow ! Not seen this, or heard this live version. I have watched one Drumcam before this, a few months back now, of Neil Peart. You only need hear that name and no more need be said ... but this guy, Danny Carey, is extraordinary. I actually don't know any of the band members names even though I have a number of their studio albums. While watching I started thinking, the stamina this guy has....then ...This is just one song .... from an entire concert !!! As for the hand coordination time signatures... When I was a kid at school we use to try doing this : > Patting the top of your head, while rubbing your stomach clockwise or anti-clockwise...Then try rubbing your head and patting your stomach....If you can, then you would make a good drummer. I have tried playing the drums. Utterly hopeless. I'll stick with my guitars. That was such a good reaction. I hope you do another like it. I really enjoyed that alot ! Thankyou ! Byeee Jim X
Other than the obvious platitudes and amazing 'regular' drumming that he does, his musicality is better than any drummer I've ever heard. I know that Pert and Bonham and Rich would be on the top of his list... but they don't do the textures that he does. This is the next evolutionary step from Bonham and Pert and Rich. It doesn't get any better than this.

This drum solo by Buddy Rich is the best I've ever seen. Not his most famous solo, but this is intense, inspired, and very long. Likely filmed in the early 60's because the music is from West Side Story. ua-cam.com/video/GeYASJc_irs/v-deo.html
Yes, I think it's his best. I thought for a long time Rush in Rio is great, but he developped it more and more in the years after. I know, many people don't like Mike Portnoy, but he is my hero. The others might play "cleaner" live, but no one brings so much fun on stage, I've seen him 18 times with DT, Transatlantic, Neal Morse Band, Winery Dogs and Sons of Apollo
@@rudolfbecker4313 I’ve never seen a band that often! Well, I might brake the 20 mark with Noé Lira next year if she tour like she did in 2022: mostly outside, free shows. With the passing of Neil Peart. I believe Danny Carey in my opinion has taken the throne of best drummer in the world. RIP Neil Peart🙏🏼
Yes on top of that the song he covered was YYZ one of their best of all time

Beyond the virtuosity, it's like watching a high level athletic performance. And a Tool show is roughly two hours of lengthy, complex compositions.
You know how on point he is, when you know, that Tool does not ues any click tracks or something like that live. Danny is their meter they are all listening to.
By far the best song they are currently performing. It's spiritual to see it live.
