L’Oréal extraordinary oil is great. Plus Kerastase is the same company as L’Oréal apparently. I can’t remember who owns who haha but the oils are similar. Not all their products tho. Granted Kerastase is all little better. But for the oil u can use eather or. X

Yeah, nostalgia... I remember using these back in 1991 with an amazing little product called 'pumping curls' which was not hair spray, not oil, just a wavy spritzer box by studio line... What I did was flex the rods on my almost dried hair after shower, go to bed and wake up like a princess. Then the pumping curls spray would maintain them for days. Not a single split end from heat damage. Just gorgeous big curls. Works magic. Thanks for the memories... ❤
I used that lotion at the beginning of 1990s, yes, also from Studio Line, LOreal, but mine didn't come with this type of rods, they were like eva foam sticks, with no wire inside, they had an end with a slit and a pointy end, so you would put the pointy end inside the slit and pull. They holded really well and were very confortable to sleep with, they came in two colours, yellow for thinner curls and blue for the thicker curls... I still keep them and I think I even still keep the leaflet that came with them in the same bag I keep the rods
Ughhhh I miss pumping curls!! My mom always had it on hand for me and my sisters growing up, then it just randomly disappeared around my high school-ish years. I tried looking for it again not that long ago lol

I also had other hair rolls made just of foam (which would also absorb extra moist overnight) that had a very thin and bendable plastic rectangle locking system. I mean, you did feel extra volume around your head during bed time, but no discomfort at all, no pulling, no pain. As stated here also, the Pumping Curls studio line product did randomly get discontinued. It was amazing and sorely missed.

I love them too! I usually apply Nairobi to the ends an roll on the rods. Gives me lots of body with beautiful curls. I've also used twisted brown paper, knotted to set my curls. It works too!

Omg I remember my mom and aunts having these my mom’s were pink & purple and came in a white case holder that heated them up. Then you would wrap your hair around them & stick the end into the hole at the other on to keep them in place; aww the memories 💭 ❣️❣️❣️ I wish I could find them now🥰
@@sg3sri If you don't want to sleep with them you can keep them in for a couple of hours but it just depends, if you going out at night you'll leave them in the whole and if you want your hair curly for the next day you'll leave them overnight
@Vanessa Actually, it wasn't. My hot rollers used steam for the heat, so it was not damaging. It wasn't like a curling iron. Not metal. It was plastic covered in velvet to reduce damage. You put them in, then got dressed and did your makeup. And when they were completely cool, you took them out. The curls lasted all day. Didn't even need hairspray. But it was work. When I had my first baby in 1992, those curls became a date night thing. I still have them and still use them. Ah, memories.

This works for me too . I spray setting lotion and conditioner mixed with water. Don’t over saturate the hair and it should be clean. I get bouncy hair and lots of compliments

Please don't ever do it, never ever perm. It's like choosing death. Been there done that and had to walk the short pixie line afterwards. Rods on slightly wet hair are by far the way to go. No damage at all. Just perfection. Perms should have been banned in the 80s.

Again, use the perm papers to smooth those ends. If you still like the dropped ends , the papers let you coil them a bit before rolling down the length to the scalp. Enjoy
My daughter Marina has Mexican hair, straight and like a mirror. I put this on her hair and literally looks like a porcelain doll hair. Her hair is bouncy and curl last all day. Love them ❤

A tip for the max volume after taking flexi’s out use a wide tooth comb and comb all the curls to the back and push it forward.
