    Just had my Maiden flight on my Bigfoot a few hours ago here in the UK and then your video came up on my feed when I got home which was a bonus! I am absolutely delighted with this plane. Fun if you want it to be and docile enough to learn on. Loved the video to see what it can do!

      It's challenging for sure, but being able to pass these defined goals means it's more than capable of flying almost anywhere.

    I’ve been “bush flying” my UMX turbo timber evo around my house. Very challenging with all the trees and power lines, but I’ve pulled off a couple of successful roof landings‼️

    Love the new Rating scale you are doing! What the plane can do vs gut feeling of everything being 8+ is great change! I know all current models are good in almost every way, super hard to figure out ways too rate each class of plane/jet is difficult. Hats of to you for trying to new methods!

      Thanks for the feedback! It's unfortunate this video isn't as interesting to our regular viewers, so it's underperforming (for now), but over time it should hopefully gain some attention. We put a lot of work into it and hope that this new standard for reviewing planes will take the "you're just saying this because they sent it to you" out of the minds of people who watch and really open them to the possibility that something is good because it's objectively worth flying.

    Well done Jon. I can appreciate what you said about WCL. True that everything doesn't have to have a 3D plane WCL to be capable or fun...especially for club pilots or people doing what we'd call "more normal" flying. It just dawned on me that Bigfoot is pretty much a Ranger with conventional gear and flaps, lol. No wonder it flies great.

    • @TwoBrosRC

      It flies phenomenally well. Given that we have both a Fun Cub and a Bigfoot, it doesn't feel much different than the Cub does.

    Finally a big foot video that shows how tight it can turn without stalling. Thank you. Bought this plane months ago but have not flown it yet as I'm only new to the hobby and it's winter here so not the best weather for flying. I've been practicing with my aprentice 700mm and sport cub 500mm. Now I've finally developed good muscle memory and directional control on the sticks I'll have way more confidence to madien my bigfoot in my small area when the weather permits. Thanks again👍👍

      @TwoBrosRC  5 місяців тому +2

      We'll be featuring it again in winter for the year in review, with new Super Timber tires that should help with landing a ton!

    • @pauld7056
      @pauld7056 4 місяці тому +1

      I've been practising landing and takeoffs the most as I feel this is probably more important than practising aerobatics. So I'm quite good and confident landing on grass. I madiened three planes on Friday including the umx turbo timber evo. A sensational little plane. Can't wait to try it out on the water when I get enough confidence. But unfortunately I also did the Maiden flight on the bigfoot ready to fly version. Had several great flights and landings but found the controller that comes with it not that great. I bought the bigfoot as a ready to fly before I purchased my NX8. I had 2 minutes of flight time left on my second battery, took it up one last time and as a total shock to me misjudged distances. I ran into the light pole on the side of the soccer field Damaging the left wing and strut, snapped the fuselage in half near the tail, scrunched the cowl and destroyed the prop after falling about 90 feet. So my elation went to disappointment rather quickly. I should have called it quits with a little flight time left on my battery but of course we always want that one last flight. However I'm not going to give up this hobby. I will repair and she will fly again once I have the time. It was a total shock. I'm not actually blaming the awkward controller but I'm still unsure as how I could misjudge the distance as it was not that far away from me. And the bottom line is we must be prepared to crash or go and find a new hobby. But a good lesson learnt and at least I will improve my skills at repairing foam aeroplanes. Lol.

  • @mickydee6550
    @mickydee6550 9 місяців тому +2

    My Big Foot is very, very, well flown after hundreds of lights. It’s my go to crappy weather plane because I can fly the living snot out of it in any conditions and on 4S it’s a little hooligan. Try a lighter 4S pack ( I like SMC 2400 HV, wish they had 4S 1800 HV) and you can hav a lot of fun across several different flying styles in the same airframe.
    Mine won’t be missed when she finally bites the dust because I will have another Big Foot immediately. Thanks for another great review.

      The only issue with softer wheels is that it might increase the 1G stall speed a little, which is not what I want. If there's a better candidate for bush wheels than the FMS Super Cub 1300 wheels (bit.ly/SuperCubWheels) that'll fit on Bigfoot, I'd love to hear about them!

    • @TwoBrosRC

      We were deliberately trying to avoid 4s power because of the extra weight. It would make maneuvering in some of these areas (transmission lines/lakeside forest) much more difficult. For wider open areas, absolutely, it would be a solid way to go!

    There's certainly plenty of flying skill improvement gained by having close calls with trees, hills, chains and pavement. Then again, I've gained other skills entirely, with "wish it was a close call- anyone seen my foam2foam?", situations, too.
    I don't 100% trust my tight area flying skills, yet. So, I max out my SAFE settings and fly like that in parks and fields around my house. That allows me all of the movement I require- it's not like I need to fly inverted in those situations- with the added help of auto leveling for those "close call" moments.
    I know- gyros are the devil.
    Whatever. I'm flying rc and enjoying the crap out of it!!

    • @TwoBrosRC

      Nope, there's no risk to flying with full flaps so long as you're not pulling the nose up too much. Stalls are caused by exceeding the wing's critical angle of attack.
