As you know, Dany is a PRS artist, so why a Gibson? That Explorer was a gift from Lzzy Hale (one of Dany's idols) mid show while The Warning was opening for Halestorm last year.

"Queen of the Murder Scene" off their second full length album of the same name. That scream you heard was actually Dany screaming, when they recorded it, Dany had all the lights off in the room to get into the right mood. Not only does she have a Gibson Explorer gifted to her by Lzzy Hale she also has an Oryx Six that was recently gifted by Matt Bellamy of Muse.

Dany has a couple of Rick Toone 1 of a kind guitars. Rick is a warning fan He loaned Dany 3 of his Spearfish custom mades . For Dany to use in the recording of the error album.( Rick has photos of one Dany used on his website along with photos of the 2 she owns) Dany already owned 2 of his Spearfish style Guitars. She is playing her sunburst Spearfish in the Dust to Dust live at lunario Video. Its a little hard to see all the details though. Rick said the he would love to sponsor her. But being a small one man shop he didn't have the resources to give the help she deserved. Rick also gave Ale 2 Basses that he made. But because of sponsorships they don't use them live anymore. But may use them some in recording im not sure.Anyone that is into cool guitars should check Rick Toone out. Very unique and very beautiful one off guitars. Great craftsmanship .Rick is a trained master Luthier.

And it was deliberately built at a much lighter weight than what Lzzy Hale carries to suit Dany. Dany has said that she is still getting used to its size and how to move with it on stage.

"Queen Of The Murder Scene" is their second album. It is a concept album, that tells a story about a woman (the queen) who has an infatuation with a man who doesn't know that she exists. She goes from infatuation to obsession, stalking, murder, and madness and ends with her death. They are chanting Korosu between the verses, it was funny when Ninja said " Oh, that's pretty" It is Japanese meaning "to kill, to murder". They wrote the album when Ale was a pre-teen, and Dany and Pau were teenagers. They performed the entire album in order at the Lunario Metropolitan CDMX in 2018. Dany takes the part of the queen in the performance and stays in character throughout the whole show. The performance is brilliant, with Pau taking the part of the queen's good side. It is truly a must-see concert that is a favorite of TWA. Thank you for another great reaction to The Warning. Here is a link for the show if you are interested. ua-cam.com/video/9VciU3gMMUY/v-deo.html The story is done in 4 chapters but they perform some of their other great songs between the chapters.

I love this song it's one of my favorites on the album, the background scream you heard is Dany they said they locked Dany in the basement and gave her a microphone and all Dany had to do was get into character and scream, they also said it was the most uncomfortable experience they had to do.😂
I just love them so much they are amazing in their playing and writing but what I love the most are their personalities, they are so different that they combine very well.

Nice Reaction! This is the title cut from their 2nd full album and it is a concept album about a girl that becomes obsessed with a guy and that turns to madness, murder and suicide. They played the whole album in order in 2018 at Lunario in Mexico City (CDMX). Dany really changes her voice to play the girl in the album, the Crimson Queen. Dany sings the song Crimson Queen acoustically and it is amazing.
Jeremy, since you like PRS Guitars, you should watch Dany's new video about her guitars. She REALLY LOVES her PRS! "The Warning's Daniela Villarreal Gear Masters"

Dany is petite and the Gibson is huge for her - as she ssys in an equipment review, she even managed to nick it one of the first time she played it, because she was unused to the size of it. it's a bit like seeing Ale with her bass when she was a kid - and we love it! The sounds effect are a bit clearer/louder in other versions, some of them are thing they did back them on their demo and decided to keep them as cool effects.

QOTMS was the very first tune Dany played on that Explorer. She launched into it less than a minute after Lzzy presented it to her on stage. I’m no guitarist, but that seems impressive to me. In her recent gear review on Digital Tour Bus she said she’s still getting use to it’s dimensions and showed the scuff it received in that first performance.

Gibson did some heavy mods to the guitar at Lzzy Hale's request. I think they reduced the body weight somewhat. They also installed specific pickups that closely compare to Dany's PRS. And the neck is thinner. Lzzy requested a specific color for Dany and it took a bit for Gibson to track one down, ship to their factory for all the mods. I've heard the guitar is worth something in excess of $6500 with all the work Gibson did on it.

The Warning continues the march of rocking female led bands that have literally taken over quality hard rock/metal like music in this century. Along with the Warning, Halestorm, Simply Reckless, Plush, Liliac and Samantha Fish, amongst others, are worth you time and reactions. Halestorm, for me, is ROCK in the 21st century and everyone else lines up behind them. The above ladies, including the Warning, have saved rock and guarantee it will inspire others to continue to Rock On! Not only does the Gibson look huge on Dany, in a recent gear rundown video that was posted, she said that on the very first day that she received it she hit something with it and nicked a piece off the edge side because she wasn't used to the new dimensions. I think those elements are mixed low intentionally because prefer their backing track to be subtle and complimentary to their live playing. They play it all themselves, but that's just how they like it. On the studio version some elements are more present, but they've stated that they never want to record something that they couldn't play live in more or less exactly the same way. However, recently during their 3 big production shows in Mexico, they played different arrangements of some of their songs, either with an extended intro, outro, or some songs leading directly into another song. They were all amazing, of course!

the album tells the foreboding dark story of unrequited love and the Queen through her battles between good and evil over her soul...
the full story of the concept album is best experienced in order from *Dust to Dust* all the way to *The End (Stars Always Seem To Fade)* ...
this title song of the album depicts the evil side of the Queen flaunting its immortality and some might also say its immorality 😹

Yeah, you caught those double-kicks! It's pretty awesome when Pau goes full metal. They use backing tracks and samples for certain things, like a piano (which is what you heard), or on the Metallica cover of ES they use the backing vocals of the girl they did the song with. If you watch and listen closely, you will see stuff added to most of their songs, which they are very open about in their video logs. I think with 3 people you need to play with backing tracks to keep it new. Normally you could just add another band member but as they are 3 sisters, I think that will mess with their synergy unless that person is just kept for live shows and not really attempting to contribute creatively. I'm ok with backing tracks, specially the way they do it and how open they are about it. Great reaction!

The best term I’ve heard about the use of backing tracks by TW is judicious.
They definitely don’t rely on them and they’re just used for effects and to occasionally “fill out” a song where they can’t logistically play live with just the 3 of them.
There remains a stigma about backing tracks in the industry somewhat but certainly amongst the public because some bands rely heavily upon them and likely couldn’t play or sing live without the help.
TW are more than capable of finishing a song or a show for that matter if they lose Pau’s computer which would be their click and the backing tracks.
It’s very likely they would play off Ale for timing (human metronome) and Dany can manually select the next song in the playlist on her Kemper if need be because she is already self contained with her guitar effects. The MIDI is actually just a tool of convenience for them.

    • @tay13666
      @tay13666 5 місяців тому +1

      @@mjc1389 Yep.
It has happened. They've lost the use of the laptop a few times.
Which I think is a good thing. Keeps them from relying on it too much.
Which in turn makes them more creative when they write the songs. Not using the tracks as a crutch.
Right now, I think they have the perfect balance.

    • @MrJest2
      @MrJest2 5 місяців тому +1

@@tay13666 I suspect their writing process goes thusly: One of them comes up with a basic tune, or lyrics, or both (often Pau, on the piano... but not always). Then they get together and flesh out their individual parts to play. A bit more refinement over however long it takes, until they are satisfied enough to present in _The Cave_ to their parents and whomever else is around (Rudy, Lalo, etc.).
Perhaps a bit more refinement based on their comments. Only then do they do "fine refinement" (stealing a term from my hobby of SFX makeup) that includes external effects and flourishes recorded for "backing tracks". Generally speaking, at no point are they *essential* to the piece; just "nice to have". Sometimes more nice than not - or, perhaps requiring a fourth musician. I'm looking at you, _Revenant_ . 🤪
Obviously I don't know for sure; just an opinion based on what I've read/watched, but for most _The Warning_ songs it seems that's the general process. And yeah, far too many bands *rely* on this stuff for their songs to succeed; and rather than letting the basic song be the foundation and central element, instead the special effects and filler become the centerpiece of a tune. It's kind of sad, really...

They have a formidable innate talent, each one of them. Innate but with practice taken to the sublime.
Despite their youth, they already have a lot of experience on their path in addition to their great preparation since they were children.
Their attitude, discipline and will to achieve their goals are leading them to great, well-deserved achievements.
They are still on the road to the top, but with too much potential, enough to think it will be inevitable.
Furthermore, the volume of quality that each of their creations implies is great… and the number of songs that carry said quality is enormous, which for me could be “The Warning label.”
I’m sure that each of their creations is subjected to a meticulous quality process before finally seeing the light…
And not only in the technical aspect, but we have also already proven that they have an exquisite taste for good music that emanates from them when they become inspired and creative.
Added to all this is that they are surrounded by an excellent family and fraternal team totally committed to their project…
And they have a fan base, “The Warning Army”, tremendously loyal to them that is decisively involved in supporting them because they have deservedly earned it for being incredible and surprising human beings.
Knowing this will give you a much better perspective to better value DPA, and maybe you will understand that TW is not just a band of talented girls who make good songs…
No, it's about music, really art with the brilliance of a "masterpiece" created and performed by three genius performers from an early age who have been developing and evolving by leaps and bounds.
The beauty of their art lies in its simplicity.
Each of these amazing rock masterpieces must be appreciated in all its dimensions and then be surprised again that they are creations of those who have wonderful talent but who, due to their age, still have much more talent to develop.
They are already admirable but their potential increases exponentially as they achieve success.
As long as all this continues to flow with this equation they will soon reach the top of the world where they deserve to be.
We're always looking for more from our favorite band of all time.
Thanks and regards from México!! 🇲🇽

The Warning’s most metal song. I love it! And it’s so apt that Dany is playing it with a Hetfield style guitar. Its sound fits the song perfectly.
I think that Dany’s and James’s vocal styles are very similar too. Everyone always wants to compare her with Lzzy Hale; or I’ve even heard Joan Jett. As if you can only compare a woman vocalist with other women. Nope, it’s Hetfield.

Korosu is Japanese for "To kill", or "Murder".

They have almost always played with backing tracks (2nd guitar, keyboards, effects, etc.) Pau kicks off each sequence from the MacBook to her left. A lot of people miss that. I'm glad you caught it.

Hey guys! I just saw them Sunday night in Cancun, and of course they were amazing!! That Gibson Explorer was gifted to her by Lzzy Hale and customized for her! There is a little keyboard synth to sound like an organ in the main riff, and I think it makes it sound more spooky. Also Dany's screams were sampled and played with to sound ghostly in the back ground. And Pau comes in with "Korosu, Korosu, Koru Korosu, Korosu..." then Ale joins her in a higher octave, and it is Japanese for Kill, as they are fans of Anime. The whole Queen of the Murder Scene album is a concept album that tells a dark story, and it's a Masterpiece!!

You can find where that scream in the background came from. It's from one of the 3 vlogs from this Album Queen of the murder scene.

I'm an old fart and played my first gigs in the late 60s at high school dances and neighborhood garages. That high pitched sound is either a sampled sound or an actual Farfisa organ popular in the 60s and into the 70s. They had an unmistakable unique sound. (Paul Revere and the Raiders...Three Dog Night...etc)
I played one for several years. The hardest part of playing it was to keep it upright on it's spindly legs.....lol

That "high pitched" sound you hear is a keyboard backing track that they've been using ever since they started playing QOTMS live. Same with the screams...all are very intentional. If you were familiar with their catalog, you would know all the samples they have been using over the years.

@@musikbyjh - Enjoy the journey you have embarked upon! Indeed, The Warning has been using self made backing tracks since their first album, 21st Century Blood. If you check out their TEDx Talks 2017 presentation, you will discover one of the earliest instance of digital backing tracks during live performance. These ladies have been so technologically plugged in from such an early age...it is a bit mind boggling. But then their father Luis is an audio engineer!

That Gibson has a deeper, dirtier sound than the PRS. Perfect for this and Enter Sandman. The high-pitched sound is a backing track. The "Korosu" is Japanese for "Kill". I love the way Pau doesn't overplay, so when her double kicks come in, it's new and exciting.

I don't know if someone already mentioned it but the extra sound tracks that you heared are placed there by Pau. She besides drumming and singing, also controles the computer with the clicktrack and the extra instrument tracks. You said that you wanted it to hear louder but that is what the girls don't want. You must hear them but not loud because when there is a computerfailure you are not allowed to miss them. I hope I said it correctly, english isn't my native language 🤔😉

  • @Mr.Sidenote
    @Mr.Sidenote 4 місяці тому

Someone may have already mentioned it, but the screams and keyboards are there because they're on the studio version and are an important part of the song, which is from the concept album of the same name. You'll also hear these backing tracks when you get around to listening to the Lunario concert, where they played the entire album live.
Sidenote: Yes, they sometimes utilize backing tracks during live performance for background vocal effects too but only to supplement what they do, never because they have to rely on them. (Take for example, their version of Enter Sandman. Alessia Cara has only sang on stage with them once so far. They use a track to pipe in her voice to replicate part of the song, but their live version differs from the studio recording too. Dany does most of Cara's parts live.)
