In my opinion, if people were forced to hide their knowledge or rather bury it somewhere where it is not easily accessible to everyone means that either someone is going to steal it or destroy it. But the question is it was thousands of years ago they who are those who were a threat to this ? British where were they thousands of years ago. During the ancient kings rule history says everyone have equal access to education. Then, where did the need arise to hide the knowledge? Maybe the fate of Nalanda and Takshashila university made them think or something else probably history only has the truth but which history is again a question mark.
