I bought this too for about 80 bucks. It's blu ray, but it doesn't have the blu ray logo strip at the top. BEST PURCHASE OF MY LIFE. I cherish it more than any of my guitars. And yes, it doesn't have his first 3. But I bought the criterion collection of Paths of Glory, and the criterion collection of The Killing (with Killer's Kiss as a bonus feature). superb.
Well I know Paths of Glory, The Killing and Spartacus all three have Criterion dvd releases so Criterion being its own distribution house might be a possible reason. The Criterion versions are definitely worth buying separate though :)
I have the box set, the two criterion films (The Killing contains "Killer's Kiss"), and a special edition of 2001 on DVD. I need to pick up the new BD release of "Fear & Desire", which also contains the two short films he did before that. Making my Kubrick collection complete!
Alas, the now cheap European version has 8 disks and no book
A Clockwork Orange is up there as is 2001. Probably my favorite is Eyes Wide Shut.
I love the characters and atmosphere of his films.
Nice ! Just picked up this, Herzog: The Collection, Zatoichi The Blind Swordsman complete set, The Three Colors Trilogy, and Jacques Tati: The Complete Works, all on Blu-Ray.
I should really be barred from entering Barnes And Noble when I have money to spend.
Perhaps. It depends on if I make another purchase or a company decides to send me something to review.
Criterion redoes the quality of the picture quite a bit. It's about as good as blu ray, is incredibly clear, but is also kinda grainy for some reason. And when they release a criterion it always has loads of neat bonus features
I'm not sure actually but there is no region number on the box or the discs so it may be region free.
I have this box set. I really wish a pre-Spartacus box set would be made available.
Awesome set same of them I have singlelee
Thanks for sharing this. I just saw 2001 (a great movie). You have a great collection.
Which is your favorite Kubrick film? Is A Clockwork Orange high on that list? I still need to see Barry Lyndon. You should pick up some Criterion Blu Rays and do reviews on those.
Gotta love Kubrick.
But doesn't Criterion just "borrow" the titles and releases them within their collection? I'm pretty sure The Killing was MGM, so why wouldn't it be on here?
They should just go ahead and release a massive box-set with The Flying Padre and Day Of The Fight and every bit of behind the scenes footage that exists.. Kubrick's thousands of boxes of film now belong to some American museum. They need to compile the ultimate Kubrick set.
There a specific film of his that sticks out that is extremely extraordinary and learn from. Or are they all good depending on what u have a taste for at the moment?
it's a very cool edition, only thing is why do they place the blu ray disk in those slide out sleeves that scratches the disk.
I think just to make it a thinner box.
OMGGGGG I WANT ITTTTT
I would love to see what the discs looks like
I really do wonder why they didn't include his first three films
A shitty way to package the blurays even though they're highly susceptible to scratches. Kubrick was the greatest mastermind to grace the field of cinema. The hidden meanings in his films are not something to overlook. Every shot or cut he has made has been premeditated and orchestrated.
Are they all region encoded or Region free?
When you here directors talk about their role models most will mention Kubrick. I want to know is thee
no The killing, no Paths of Glory included :( ?
Nope. I bought those separately.
Barry Lyndon is amazing
Around the end is the most amazing part ever
And when I mean that I really mean ever. If you haven't seen it do so
Just buy the movies separately
But the box set is cool!
great vid! i subbed
