Something I love about this system is how "standardized" it is, the bag attachments are basically regular ol' clips and the mounting points are just loops of webbing. It always makes me really happy when a company doesn't pull some proprietary bs that makes it's system only works with company products. We truly need more of this thinking

Indeed. I've used the clips on my other bags and so long as their webbing is big enough, it's good. I've attached it to the lip of compartments in bags aswell and it works equally great. Extremely great design

I really love the Idea and the whole system.. and also use some of it on a daily but alpaka did not bring out new products in that line for a long time which is really sad since the older (discontinued) hub products had added some now missing utility to the system.
PLEASE Alpaka bring out some new products

So, I have an Alpaka Elements backpack and there's two strips with loops for this system. But because I don't have any accessories from it, the loops are used for clipping multitool, flashlight and a knife) That's one strip. The other one is used to stash some cables. The inside of backpack looks messy, but eh, I can live with it)

yea that's the nice thing about those lash points in the bag - they can work for clipping anything on

Ive been using various forms of their hib sustem for years! I still have a few woth the red pull tab from the initial launch. I habe found that the ID holder does fray a bit kn the edges when you wear it with the USB c neck lanyard. I had to use a lighter to burn the edges once and never again. I use the clips in my bag to hold a hub pouch and a zip pouch. I like having them up high close to the zipper instead of falling all the way to the bottom of the bag. I do wish they made a clip that was more belt/pants friendly. The current one is pretty bulky and not designed well for jeans or belts.

2:58 I would say it was genius, for a certain use case. When it was first thought up… So back when most people when most people had to actually physically go to a work place, or school as a student / T.A. or worked at a school. Or like a maintenance person and anyone else that needed card access for multiple areas or a visible ID. Especially if you were away from your office/ cubicle a lot and needed a charger with you. But now I doubt it ( the neck/cord lanyard and card holder) is ordered as much, unless it is one off those comes with the combo deals…

agreed that this probably would have been more popular pre-Covid, but still has a nice use case. I love it for our office

Yep, same, great carabiner solution. I use it for my work keys. Bonus is that it uses the same magnet keyring, so they're interchangeable with the Alpaka stuff as well.

Gotten the sanitizer during COVID and have been rocking with it ever since. Always attached it to my belt and often colleagues told me that I look like a handyman 😂, tho sometimes experienced accidental drip.
Always confused with the cable thing, thinking it was a lanyard but it wasn't. But the sanitizer can hold a card behind it too, so that kills 2 birds with 1 stone for access/train card + sanitizer feature

Pretty cool! Are the key holders included on bags (like the metro backpack or the elements brief) exactly the same as the key holders on the hub bundle? If not, how compatible are they?

are the clips big enough to be used on a belt?

  • @bani_niba
    @bani_niba 16 днів тому +1

Not for me: 1) The clips are too bulky for putting inside a bag. Alpaka ought to make a version 2 with much smaller clips. 2) I will never use a downward-facing hand sanitizer bottle again - too many accidental drips.

I think Alpaka can make a smaller version only if Fidlock makes them

Too much bulk for the functionality…the solution should never cost more space/weight than the problem.
Alternatively if they could make the magnet and sticker extra strong, it might be interesting if you could just stick much heavier items (eg pouches/ bags/clothes) onto the walls/desks.
If the magnet strip can be flexible, would be cool to just wear it like a batman belt.

For the small handful of use cases this “system” consumes more volume & weight in your pack than just using built-in organization pockets. Expensive and over-engineered - a solution in search of a problem.

I can see your point in regards to the backpack - I don't really use it in mine. But as a magnetic system to keep things organized next to your door, I freaking love it
