If you are a Dubai influencer, then you are a sellout.

Please. Most influencers are sellouts by default. For instance they promote products they won't consume themselves. Dubai is not a democratic Emirate and never advertised itself as one.

Its about being humane, and dignified not democratic.
Democracy, is a sign of a healthy society.
Dubai, is not democratic, but given it can't handle facts and individual opinions about the country itself is a shame.

@@AccountAccount-pn5hz Influencers are essentially a modern marketing strategy. Back when social media first started to blow up, people flocked to social media personalities due to their perceived 'authenticity'. This lead marketing firms to court people people on social media, creating the first generation of influencers.
Now to be fair, there's nothing inherently wrong with this, as long as an influencer is upfront about who signs their paycheck. But it is something that needs to be always kept in mind. Influencers are not always in the business of showing you a semblance of reality.

Let's think about what influencer means for a moment. They get paid money because a lot of people will follow what they say and take on their opinions.
So we need to ask ourselves as a society, do we want people who are willing to sellout human rights for a bit of quick cash as the people that influence others, particularly our youth.
That isn't just the UAE, there's lots of situations where influencers are putting ethics aside for quick cash.
If we want to allow those people to influence and teach our children how to be in the world, we shouldn't be surprised when the world is a mess in a generation.

It’s very simple, you go to any place in this world, you respect the law or you get punished. Nobody is being forced to live in or visit Dubai, so you don’t like it, leave. Don’t be surprised people don’t appreciate u bad mouthing them after you’ve been welcomed, offered very safe and clean environment, cheap and modern facilities, one of the best customer service experience in general and lots of other benefits. Just pointing out that at this point around 50% of population has been vaccinated against covid-19 and most were able to choose the shot they were more comfortable with (pfizer, sinopharm, astra-zeneca and Sputnik to follow), while rest of the world is not able to offer even one single option for their residents. Major and real concerns of residents are usually being taken into consideration and authorities are pretty reactive in my experience. Is Dubai perfect? No! But it’s pretty great and constantly working on improving.

I think people don't even question their own line of thinking. Why is autocracy bad? Because you will eventually have tyrants and despots along the (royal) line. But so far the UAE has great governance that they even support innovation and tolerance. This is fiction but, think of UAE as Wakanda. Wakanda is a monarchy, but are they bad people by and large? Is their country bad?
You're free to do anything here. Just count the things that you can do in your own country where you can't in a country like North Korea. Now apply that to the UAE with quite a few exceptions (like criticizing the government).
As Mark Twain said 'travel is fatal to prejudice..' and I think autocracy and censorship automatically gets a bad rep. People should examine why it's bad in the first place and also realize how UAE is quite an exception.

Emma, Dubai is a country where the slavery of the people is not hidden, unlike in other countries where there is an illusion of freedom that's created to help increase motivation and productivity. Now by defending Dubai you are defending slavery, which is the epitome of evil and is therefore always indefensible. If you continue to defend Dubai even after I have pointed this out to you, I will have to conclude that you are a bad person that endorses slavery, and you will be socially ostracized.

    • @kyledolor5257
      @kyledolor5257 3 роки тому +4

@@Twobirdsbreakingfree You are so naive. Go here to Dubai or any other emirate and tell that to the people living here if they feel like slaves. Some, if not most, come here to _escape_ that feeling of slavery from their home country-the harshness of poverty.
The people living here are mostly expatriates too.
Defending Dubai doesn't necessarily mean you advocate for the wrongdoings the government may or may not have done, but can also be because people (I) lived here and it gave us decent lives I could not have in my home country.
Look, I can see how America has shootings/killings every year by lunatics and the police, but I will still defend it being a decent place to live in because I know that is not a representative of America. The point being you should weigh the good and the bad before generalizing or stereotyping a place or country. It makes you more wise and seem educated.

“Safest place for women”, in one of the most oppressive countries for female rights🥴😂 London has almost 9 million people, that’s what the entire Emirates has. The London Metropolitan area has 15 million inhabitants. Dubai is just an authoritarian sandbox for tourists, obviously there won’t be any major crime there, the place literally didn’t exist 40 years ago. London is still a far better place than Dubai, and a much more beautiful city, and that’s coming from someone who has been to Dubai 2x. Dubai is Las Vegas, but cheaper, more skyscrapers, and more modern as the city was, again, literally built in the past 2-3 decades😂 You get bored quickly in Dubai, I was bored after 3 days... Meanwhile in London, New York, Paris, Miami, Rome, Barcelona, and etc, you have to be some person to be bored.
