- Accompanied by Dr. Robert Huizenga, Charlie Sheen continues his exclusive interview with TODAY’s Matt Lauer. “Charlie has contracted the HIV virus,” Huizenga confirms, but adds that he is more concerned about the actor’s depression and substance abuse history. “Charlie does not have AIDS,” the doctor says. He also says that the odds of Sheen having spread the virus are low. Sheen says he takes four pills a day, and while he maintains is not taking mood-altering drugs, he does admit he’s still drinking.

The Daily Mail UK basically outed him a couple of years before this Matt Lauer interview. The DM had headlines that said "secret Hollywood A-lister has HIV!" It was obvious they were referring to Charlie by the clues they dropped.
Why is the interviewer telling him what to do with his life? Nobody asked him. I found this part of the interview degrading to Charlie.

Um newsflash, complete abstinence from any alcohol actually increases Charlie's risk of binging but apparently Matt's a doctor and he can just make this call. It sounds like he's doing a really good job in his recovery and he looks fantastic.

Do you honestly think that there aren't HIV + people out there who don't fall into such states of depression, feeling like abysmal failures that all they want to do is self medicate and die? Ask the gay boys who have been positive for years and still partying and smoking Tina and re-exposing themselves. The fear of HIV encourages many things, the least of which for some is the adherence to daily medication.

I don't think he made this announcement to educate people. It sounds like he's just tired of paying people to keep shut. I think he wanted to keep living out that playboy lifestyle but it got to expensive. I truly hate to hear this, I've known several ppl with this disease so my heart truly goes out to him and his family. Great book coming out next year about an AIDS survivor who served as a missionary for 30 after being diagnosed. It is titled Live, Kenya but I do not know who will publish it.

Bruhhh this interview had me feeling some type of way. This opened my eyes even more you don't know who has what these day's but damm that interview looking like he was in court shuttering and stuff. He'll be okay as long he taking medication.
For me it's sad to see a promising actor so deep in the pit. I admire his courage and hope he'll get over those problems.
