Whilst pushing in/out and semi-circling, there is some motion blur being created. The motion blur itself is what will help to disguise the lack of sharp focus at the closet and farthest points. Great stuff, thank you!
I never write comments and this video is almost 3 years old but, man best tutorial of ANY thing i've watched on youtube, straight to point, explained everything in depth, and showed examples. Thank you man!!
YRontheBeat thanks for the comment!! Much appreciated man! Check out my more recent music video behind the scenes! I do very similar videos to this but super updated!
I like to try my best to keep it at 2.8. This technique is best used at a wide open zoom as you said to keep everything in good focus but again like you said, less depth of field
hi i dont have 4k camera but i can still get 1080 p 60 fps on my dslr its pretty good and also i got steadicam so as i understand your focus always middle point and u just move closer and further from subject pretty cool i gotta try it thanks
All good man, you don't have to have a 4k camera to produce well made videos! Definitely use that 60fps to your advantage too. Thanks for your support!
Bro, do you have a suggestions for my first DSLR with a gimbal. It’s going to be my first DSLR so the cheaper the better (My budget for now is around €1000,-, with a gimbal included.
Agame Productions hey man, I don’t actually but I’ve done some research on them and they’re not half bad. In my opinion, I would tell you to save a little more and go with a used Panasonic GH4 and a brand new metabones soeedbooster m rather than the g85
@@RoyalZProduction dang i was gonna ask that. I have the nifty 50 and the pancake 24mm. So neither would do great with this method😭. The only zoom lens i have is the kit lens 18-55mm. Would that still work for a night shoot even tho the aperture is around the 5.6 area?
Hey new subscriber here. Wondering how long you've been in the video production field and wondering if you could do a newb set up for affordable gear for someone just starting out. Ive really enjoyed your tutorials even the long ones!
Hey! I've been shooting full time now for 2 years. Absolutely, I'm actually ordering budget video gear (Camera Included) and shooting a full music video with an artist I've worked with a bunch and explain how I'm shooting everything! It's definitely on the list! I'll be shooting the video soon!

Glad It helped!
Thank you for this.
I’ve just discovered your vlogs as am about to do a music video. Really helpful, thank you.
Glad you enjoyed! Much love!
What would be a good aperture to use this technique at? Nothing super wide open since the depths of field is a lot smaller but what would you say?

Hello my friend, great Video. Do you think the Gh5 is still up-to-date? is the purchase worthwhile?
Thanks royalz, this is video is every thing you're amazing and very explanatory, straight to the point, thanks
Appreciate the comment and support! More tips and tricks on the way!
I been looking all over for somebody to explain this... Subscribe fa'sho
varsitytitan07 haha thanks G.. Underrated video for such an easy shooting technique!! Tried to make it unpolished and to the point!
No doubt helped me out a ton just getting started... nice work bruh
Great work bro I've been shooting for a while and never looked at it that way when it came to focusing so thank you

MustafaFlex ツ go with a canon T3i/T5i and an hd2000 glidecam!!
Hey bro, this is exactly what i was looking for, what aperture did you have your sigma 18-35 on? the max 1.2? or? thanks man.
never mind i read it in a comment lol, thanks
Haha was about to reply! No probs!
Hey M8, great Video again. Witch Framerate do you use in LowLight?
Yo! Thanks! Either 4k 24fps or 4k 60fps. Totally depends on the shot I want and lighting my set properly!
So the close and far points will be slightly out of focus? Good video btw!
Dope bro! Can’t wait to get out there and get shit popin! 🙏🏽🏆
Exploring with Gemini do it up bro!!!
Thanks! very useful
Do you have any experience/tips on the Panasomic Lumix G85

Are u using Manual or auto focus? F2 gives u a short focus window
would this still work if I'm shooting with a 50mm lens?
I would say no. Because it's a prime, it's more so meant for sitting In one general area and having a sharp focus on a subject

really good job with these vlogs 👍👍
Thank you!
Which focal length did you use for the shot?
18mm and 35mm
Thank you!

RoyalZProduction thanks so much for replying, im looing forward to your budget video!
Awesome Video bro. Keep it up!
Thank you man!
What kind of camera do you use ? And lens
Panasonic GH5, Metabones Speedbooster 0.71 and Sigma 18-35mm
Good tips man.
Find the middle point
Exactly! Thanks for watching!
tell me the background beat you used bro please
Is it hard to keep focus while moving?
Not really!
I know it’s easier to keep focus with an wider lens, but sometimes it looks out of focus to me.
you should do a vlog about how to start the next scene with the artist knowing where he is starting with the song
Will do! Thanks for the comment, that would be a great tutorial to do. I'll add It to the list!
what ISO are you shooting at for night shots like this
Totally depends. I try not to go over 800 on the GH5!
How do u stop the speaker when you shoot a music video
I just pause the song on my phone and restart right before we start the next performance scene
mute it
How do you edit let's say one minut your in the light then the next your in the dark but the audio is still on point on Adobe premir pro cc
O yeah can you do a editing video for kids keep up the good work
You would want to keep a consistent light throughout the scene. If you shoot in darker settings, invest In some lighting!
What the beat you used in your intro called
I believe it was a custom beat I bought a while back from a local producer!
Is this manual or auto focus?
Manual focus every time!
Nice tip!..
LifeAsaKingston LAAK glad you enjoyed!
cool tutorial
Thanks!
What was the aperture at?
I believe F2.8
Ok. So at 18mm 2.8 will still have alot in focus.
Yup! Just make sure you're zoomed all the way out and to focus in at your middle point as I explained. Good luck!
what iso was the camera on at night with the 2.8 aperture...
Are you Canadian?
Sure am eh
😍
F stop on a shoot like this?
Zoomed all the way out I sit at 5.0 F stop so everything is generally In pretty good focus
A tutorial about keeping focus -- with a guy never in focus the whole video :)
