You're welcome. Unfortunately I cannot comment. I've considered adding a night ride to our tests for future bikes.
the headlight is good, however i would like more spill from the low beam at close range. it definitely needs to be aimed, easy to do with a philips screwdriver, I think the one under the seat will do it. the high and low beam are separately adjustable, so follow the owners manual for what does wich
I'm between this and the 1050DE...which really feels like a big bike. Being 6'3" thought it would naturally fit me, but the pegs are up high and the bike felt cumbersome. Which is why the 800DE sounds like a better fit....especially since i want to do some sandy trails when i visit Arizona. That thought of picking up 1050DE repeatedly isn't appealing....since that always happens offroading.
Yeah, I typically prefer the smallest bike I can find that has enough power and suspension. So I'd probably pick an FE 501s and built it to my preferences.

BTW, so my sister is short and wants the cheapest new reliable bike possible that has just enough power to be able to keep up with traffic on the highway. I liked the Royal Enfield Hunter 350, but with only 20hp I have a feeling it might be too weak for the highway. The CFMoto 300NK with 30hp or the Triumph Speed 400 with 40hp might make more sense. Thoughts? She has been riding a Yamaha WR250R dirtbike for a while, but hates how tall it is at 37", and she already has the low seat option.
I think you're right about the Hunter 350. I've heard great things about the new Kawasaki Eliminator. Does she like that style? Cruisers are great for low seat height. If not, the Triumph might be a good bet, but I cannot speak to it.
Also everything will seem low from the WR :P
