- This is it folks! That last and final episode of the Chevy Tahoe. It's time for this baby to hit the armor all shop then on to live at it's final resting ground in the salt belt of NY! To bad really, it seems like a pretty decent vehicle despite the mileage. -Enjoy!

I have that pump in the Amazon link, it’s awesome!!! I’ve done several Diesel marine oil changes, 5 gallons, works great!!
you said the curb hopping? was normal in 4wd...does that only happen in a tight turn?
@@peetky8645 I think he said Crab hopping not sure but I think it's normal for a truck based 4 WD system because I think they don't have a centre diff . like a AWD car would have.
@@V10PDTDI i have an old durango that slips and shudders in a real tight turn when in 4wd....never knew if that was "normal" or if my transfer case was F'd...thanks
@@peetky8645 Crow hopping ;)
The action, The drama, The suspense, The romance. All on the S.M.A. Just canceled my Netflix. Great video's.
I think I watch SMA just to learn how to have a proper marriage 🤣
Netflix dropped $54 billion in value all because of SMA
I laughed, I cried... It was better than Cats
Avoca Department of Parks and Recreation: "why is the parking lot always full of ruts?" 🤣
... and the occasional rusty car part...
lmao, here in NY no rust, it's worth a million dollars!!
Mrs. O needs a raise. She's doing her job and yours.
She already is on bonus. She is “smokin hot.”
Mr. I prolly hopes you fall out of bed tonight!
He put the ole kabosh on you with his voodoo doll
Mr. O is a class act and I like how he gets along with Mrs. O. His jealous act about the delivery guy who picked it up the transfer case so easily was excellent. :)
... and Mrs. O. "claiming" she didn't really pay attention to him! Uh huh! 😉😂
Ya she wasn't looking at his hair. LOL
Said it before. They're still in Love.
Would love to see a teardown of that front differential.
It's a mess inside I guarantee it have a good day
Notification from Eric right in the middle of watching Matt's off road recovery 👍🤣
I was just watched watch Wes work, and now I need to go 2 bed.
Great video Eric thanks man.
These are two people that definitely love each other. A rare thing today!
agree - it is great to see!!!
lol! a rare thing today
I divorced and have a very lovely girlfriend now. I'm a happy man now
@@joskd8491 congrats!
I like it when Mrs. O is on there with you. You make me want to be a better man. Or maybe a delivery man. Keep rocking it man
all i can say your a lucky guy to have a blessed family an great health
Always fun to watch you and Mrs. O tease each other. Man, you got it bad for that girl.
*After all these years!*
If you haven’t junked that front diff, can you do a little tear down and show use what happened? I’m curious why there was what looked like aluminum in the gear oil.
I'd like to see this too.
Usually pinion bearing self destructs, super common unfortunately
Me too
All those filings would be the splines from the gears/stub axles not being locked in and just grinding under load. Once they were snapped back into place that diff wasn't noisy. So the ring and pinion are probably still good. My thoughts anyway.
I think he was sending it back as a core so might not be able to take it apart and show us :(
As a young mechanic i really want to say THANK YOU. I have learned so much about diagnosis and repair with this channel than in any tech school. Really love your work and admire your integrity. Hoping the best for you
Hope you are doing well in your studies, you will have good and bad days as a mechanic, but it is a great skill to have, never stop learning and advance your skills.....from a 40 year retired mechanic....
"God these things are gutless!" Not sure why the utter disappointment in your voice when you said this made me LOL the hardest!🤣
Hes not wrong, i have a NNBS suburban and its pretty pathetic lol, would love to throw speed parts at it eventually
@@king21w48 I would start with the obvious... kendra and natalie obviously, a fart can, and as many performance stickers as you can fit!
Eric, NAPA does not need to sponsor you, you give them all the free advertisement they need.
Pump is $199 from Mac site, $98.20 from Amazon. Hmmm, seems like Mac is doubling the price. Wonder what the tool truck charges? Probably $300.
Deal is, this dealer can sell this thing as "reconditioned by Eric O at SMA!" I'm no business man, but you have a gold mine here. Idea, charge these dealers a premium for an SMA sticker.
You're welcome
Eric treats them just like any other customer. That's one of the reasons why he has more business than he can handle.
Hey Eric, my dad was admitted to hospital in serious condition a few days ago. Thanks for this video...it let me get a few minutes to forget my problems. Enjoyed as always.
Not only an interesting repair/diagnosis video series on this vehicle, but also Mrs. O assisting and references to The Bangles and Meatloaf in the final video. Definitely earns a thumbs up! 😆
Came for the mechanical work....stayed for the banter between you and the lovely Mrs. O.
There's only 4 people in this world I like. Mrs O "there's 4 people in your immediate family. "
Ur catching on quick!
The interaction between you 2 is priceless
My view on liking people is just like Eric's :-)
I could tell Mrs O was impressed when you hoisted that baby up and into position like it was nothin ! Not too bad for an old guy .. lOL
It's nice to see you and Mrs 0 can still have a healthy flirt after many yrs of working together...I didn't have that charisma with mine...
just like I tell my kids. The only person you can change is *YOU*
@@SouthMainAuto I like that. That is a phrase I think I'll have to borrow.
Not sure how I stumbled upon this channel, but I love it. Its fascinating to watch you work.
It's rather amazing how much better that truck drives without the engine trying to leap out of the hood ...
Mrs. O is a hoot! She keeps you in line!
Hats off to the used car guy. Thank you for actually having things fixed. I'm sure it doesn't happen with every vehicle, but still...
Yea the economics have to work out because you can lose money quickly in that business.
@@robertgary3561 Very true. The business can make honest men crooked just for that extra cash; like a truck I bought with a rusted out frame that had been filled with Bondo and painted over. It's currently cracked in half sitting in the driveway. Economically, he made a great deal. Morally... well he doesn't care about that.
Something tell me that Mrs O is a better mechanic than 90% of the today’s men 👍😊.
That's because 90% of today's "men" don't even own tools. It's the rapid decline of masculinity, the pandemic nobody is allowed to talk about.
@@davep6989 yep, as Rush Limbaugh would have said: "The chickification of America." Home Depot and Harbor Freight are my toy stores! 😁
On a side note, is it "chickification" or "chickafication"? 😂
No doubt about that! If today’s “men” would hand the video game controllers to their kids and pick up a wrench, they might be on Mrs. O’s level in a decade or so.
@@armoricain -ification. Trust me. I speak pretty English yes!
Tell me about it my kids only want to play on the computer I remember when I was their age I was rebuilding a 1950 ford coupe. Bought them a tool kit don't think they have used them even once one day they will want to learn I keep telling myself
I'm not a mechanic but I still turn wrenches for a living as a millwright.
Ms O is a champion no 🧤 just dived in and started helping lucky man you are . 🏆
I always learn something from you. You’re definitely one of my favorite car repair channels. Your wife is great too. What a great partner. 🙏
Eric O says: "I think the job went reasonably well."
Eric O thinks: Except for the delivery guy.
Yeah, the HOT delivery guy! 😂
That's why he typically pulls those out himself at the place he isn't sponsored.
"They don't care what i do as long as Mrs. O is out here." Truer words have never been spoken LOL. Love the vids. (She likes it too, she seems to be dressed for the camera)
The interplay with Mrs. O cracked me up, love it! 😅😅
Mrs. O is the new star !
Hi Eric, you and Mrs O are family to us and we love you both. God bless and merry Christmas.✝️🇬🇧
Love how you are with you wife. Make a woman feel special she will always be yours. Keep it up. Good job. You go boy.
I can tell you two have the type of relationship that most people only dream about, it takes work which many aren't willing to do. I wish you guys continued happiness and lots of laughter
I personally think this channel should be sponsored by Napa. South main deserves it!!!
Eric likes a lady that knows how to handle tools! Nice work Mrs. O!
The shop that the shops take the tricky stuff to… love it
"Use your left hand if you're right handed" 😂😂 solid advice
Nice job Eric, that truck was worth saving, Just needed a good mechanic.
Yeah, that SUV looks great!
I'll be dipped. My new favorite euphemism. Go vice grip garage!
My theory on the moisture in the front differential. Front differentials are not regularly transmitting power like the rear. The rear will heat up during normal driving (over150F) and drive the moisture out of the vent tube. The front is only used in winter (most people) so is stays cool and moisture from the air slowly accumulates.
True for lockout style axles. Your direct drives(like the Jeep Wrangler) tend to not have moisture issues
That is a good theory, however the hubs are not lock-out/lock-ins, meaning the front diff still spins. So if you ever do a fluid service on a 4wd the two diffs and transfer case should be changed at the same time. The watery crap is usually because of a breather or vacuum line. A sealed unit will come to temp and the check valve (breather) will gas off water vapor.
@@samuelsnyder5169 The whole diff does not spin when 4wd is not engaged, the actuator he plugged in on the diff slides a splined ring back and forth to engage and disengage it. Otherwise, drag from the diff is a mileage hit.
@@stevebot I’ll clarify when I say the diff spins. The side gears in the housing still spin, the pinion and ring gear do not because of the selecting pin. And your right, that would be a lot more drag and a lot less mpg. Lol
@@samuelsnyder5169 Yeah but with no load on it, its not really going to make much heat. Fords still use what they call IWEs (integrated wheel ends, aka vacuum hubs) on their trucks and SUVs for a while.
I always tune in for a glimpse of Mrs. O. She's the bomb!
Missing the "Hey there viewers, welcome back to *SMA!*
Other than that, A+! LoL 🤣😆
You two are so in love and yes we want to see Mrs O! Hehe I love the content sir!
Another job well done by my favorite mechanic & his lovely assistant !!!!👍👍
Great job . Your assistant Mrs O keeps you in line lol. Appreciate you lovely attitude and you are a very fortunate man God bless
It^s just another mechanic monday , and a good one in your case. Like watching your video's. Greetz from a boat mechanic from Netherlands.
The Bengals were awesome , especially their videos 👍
Not taking anything away from SMA , but you know.
Mrs O is always the highlight of any of your videos.
“Well I’ll be dipped” glad to see another supporter of Derek, he’s a good guy!
I can't believe it... guess I got to, I'm lookin right at it, lol
I thought the same thing as soon as he said it
The last episode he said something that made me thing of VGG, and was thinking that. Love when we all catch these cross over references!! Do it for dale gentlemen!!!!
I had to rewind to make sure that’s what he said! 😂
"We'll just but some gear juice in this differential...that's WAY too much - perfect!"
Eric you is a beast at these cars please keep dropping knowledge I'm picking it up 💯
it doesn't matter if we can see. it's the commentary we injoy. You talk to your self sometimes for hours on end and it is quite entertaining at times. Just careful. mom always said it's ok to talk to yourself it's when you answer back there is a problem
My Grandma said if you talk to yourself enough people will think you have real money
It's okay to talk to yourself, it's even okay to reply.
But if you interrupt yourself, you've got problems.
It's not so bad when I talk to myself. But when I tell myself to shutup and mind my own business? There may be a problem...
Some say when you talk to yourself, it may be the smartest conversation you’ll have all day. On the other hand if you get into an argument with yourself and lose…
@@clintshiplett8548 I lost an argument with myself, ran into my bedroom and slammed the door. It took me 30 minutes to get myself to open the door.
We love what you do. Mrs O is a bonus
Always great commentary and video information. Nice to see Mrs. O. helping out when needed too!!!
I believe if SMA has a 10 bays they would be up to their ears in work.
When dealerships are bringing vehicles to be repaired, that speaks volumes
25:00 Never heard of "Crow Hopping in 4WD". But immediately knew exactly what you meant.
You're a great guy bro. Don't worry about the delivery guy, we'll have a word with him. Larry, get me the Snap-On pry bar over there.
Come on Napa, sponsor this guy
"We'll go out here and see if the ratio is correct. We'll do it the easy way. We'll put it in 4wd while we're moving, and if the ratio is incorrect it will explode. So let's see..... must be the ratio is correct, ill put her back into 2wd because it did not explode." - E.O.
That was my favorite part of the 3 part series. But my guess is that , if it did all go horribly wrong with the wrong ratio, not only would it grenade the pot metal front diff., it would also destroy the transfer case. Love the channel!
Great diagnosis and repair, spot on as usual. The switch was a plot twist, good catch.
Years ago I had my own "Mrs O" in my shop. Unfortunately we divorced and I never found a replacement. You sir are so lucky to still have your Mrs O! She is terrific. Lucky man you are!
“Well I’ll be dipped” sounds like another of my favorite UA-camrs. You are entertaining enough to watch even when you are working on something that I will never own. Mrs O is a very patient woman.
Love the channel. Eric, you and your wife have great personalities and attitudes....for New Yorkers (😆).
Love the shows and how it all goes so easy for you at all times....especially with all customers (😆😆). Thanks a lot.
"Just remember Eric, If I can joke about the frustrations of cars & customers...you can do it".
Great repair good learning experience. Love the video, good explanation of how to do it at home. You are one in a million doing an honest job.. Take care thanks 😊
I just love that V8 sound. Who cares if it's not a rocket ship.
This series had something for everyone. Good job Eric and Mrs. O. 👍
Thank you

The transformation was amazing. From a vehicle that sounded like it was going to launch parts in ALL directions to one that sounded pretty darn good. It certainly acted better than most with that high mileage on them. Impressive!
It always helps when all the parts work together properly. :)
Personally I wish more people to pick up vehicles like that little few dollars into him have a good vehicle cuz not as what are you going to get if you go out to buy a new vehicles going to cost a lot more have a great day
Thank goodness for Mrs. O!!!
I started my first mechanic job in 1974 and we had a contract with one of the auctions in town. You would not believe some of the stuff they wanted us to do to their junk. They handled a lot of Fords and almost everyone I saw was burning oil and fouled at least one plug. We would cut part of the side electrode off on a BF 82 Motorcraft plug and then gap the side electrode to the center electrode so it was like a 2 stroke plug and send it on its way. Very seldom did we see one of their cars twice. I always felt sorry for the ones who bought a car to drive from the auction.
Fantastic. You should have your own tv show
Another job well done Mr O you really crack me up when you went to picking on Ms O about the delivery guy, hilarious like I say you guys are a hoot really enjoyed the video all three of them
This 3 part limited series should go on Netflix.. Kudos Mr. O..
Yes, the interaction between you two is GREAT! You really know your tools well Eric 👍
Mrs O and Eric being all flirty is adorable ❤
8:16: Always trust the Mrs with the nuts.
Deeze nuts- cracked me up
"These things are gutless"...ahh another graduate of Ralph Nader's School of Liseurely Forward Progress. Great series. Thanks!
You got a great Wife Eric,God bless you 2 and the kids and pets
Poetry on a Monday morning.....musta been a good weekend!
I like how you started ALL the bolts on the diff before tightening them. That’s one of the first tricks I was taught as an apprentice 👍
A Bangle a day would keep me happy everyday!
The used car dealer is blessed to have you as a resource. Work done correctly. Kudo's!
What started out as a piece of junk ended up a pretty decent vehicle it seems. Can't walk away from that mileage though. Great job. Thanks for Sharing!
Liking the way Mrs. O showed you how to do the install. A class act for sure..
I like the multi part format that you and Ivan do occasionally. I like seeing the in depth diag and repair.
You are an awesome mechanic and movie star.
I love how you changed camera angles to get Mrs. O in the frame, and then 5 seconds later walk right in front of her and replace her mug with yours! You two are a great pair.
Great video . Another method to easily fill the transfer case is by poking small hole in your container, place your air compressor blow gun at 5lbs in the small hole while feeding the transfer case with a tube over the nozze of the container. The compressed air will force the fluild out.
Somewhere, Ivan is dying to tear apart that front differential and see what's going on with it.
And throw all the kibbles & bits back inside before returning fore core
Wow, not even a minute in and we've had The Bangles and a sneaky Petula Clarke reference!!
i will never do some of the repairs eric does but i always learn something. how to use tools better tools i want to buy etc. napa is nuts for not sponsoring an honest guy like you.
OmiGod, Eric is a poet. I can picture him in green tights and a white shirt with a little British hat on and wistfully reading to a crowd from atop a large mushroom.
It seems like the OEM use a short vent tube on the diffs. I almost always extended them and the moisture doesn’t seem to be a issue
Mr.O , an awesome doode. As simple as that!!
Beautiful work Eric. Thanks for the tip on the drill pump. I just ordered one. I could have seriously used it yesterday to fill a Ford Sterling 10.5 rear diff on my F-250 Superduty. That thing holds almost a full gallon and all I had was a 200 cc syringe type thing. Took me over 40 minutes to suck up that thick Redline 75/140 hypoid! I'll hold off on the front until the pump arrives even though it's like half the volume. I learn so much from you and I can't thank you enough for teaching me. Merry Christmas from way out West here in Steilacoom Washington, to you and your family. God Bless.
Impressed that the stealership put that kind of money in that high mileage vehicle. someone should get something that will last a couple years hopefully!!! Nice job!
15:43, I agree. You can set the camera down at for hours, as long as the star of show makes an appearance we don't need to know what you're working on.
