I live in the Coachella Valley and know this area well. This is a very comfortable home great design and execution, I would love to live in this home. Would want for nothing else but to enjoy the views and peace and quiet and serenity this home affords. Thanks and cheers to the architect and builder of this beautiful home!!

This is in the low desert just east of Palm Springs in the Coachella Valley which is a huge area of modern towns with huge shopping centers, hotels, resorts, entertainment & restaurants. There are also many country clubs and golf courses. Disney has under construction a massive planned community in the area. This is not a desolate community, don't let the fact that this specific house is nestled on some rocks fool you into believing that the area is like Death Valley or Yucca Valley (Joshua Tree).. Lots of cars and traffic, homeless people too. Yes, the area is also very wealthy with some homes estimated at over $20 million dollars and as low as $300k.

All new buildings should be designed with large roof overhangs. The large overhang provides beauty and protection from the sun, rain and wind.
Protection of the doors, windows and siding make for a more durable and comfortable home.

Outstanding blend of nature and man made. The slat overhangs are brilliant.

Morando em lugar alto assim, e deserto, de onde vem a água para abastecer essa casa?
É um lugar maravilhoso, e uma casa linda e bem construída. ❤👏👏👏

Very nice. I would have liked to have heard about the sustainability issues of building in a desert - energy use, water supply and treatment, etc.

Absolutely a great Brutalistic concrete design, and the water works going on in the Desert, always a treat...but I would not have any metal siding going on...makes me sweat just to think about in the Hot Desert...I would swap it out for more concrete or Marble, Granite or Quart...but still quite lovely...nice job!

That gate in the opening: Is that parts of trumps southern wall?
The rest of the house and design is a masterpiece.

    Hmm!!!
The conceptional inspiration reminds me of the 'STAHL HOUSE' an 'ARCHITECTURAL MASTERPIECE' in Los Angeles Cal. by architect Pierre Koenig!
    Brilliant!

All homes should be built to accommodate the elderly and disabled. This will be better for everyone.
Large wide doorways and hallways make using a cane, walker or wheel chair much easier.
Bathrooms or wet rooms need to have flat floors and no shower hump or pan. A flat floor allows for easy access and drains need to provided.
Easy to use lever door and faucet handles are easier for the elderly to grip and open.
Main floors should include a master bedroom, restroom, shower, laundry and wide walk in closet with few steps to enter.
Homes should be designed with aging in place in mind.

New homes should come with solar panels, a rain water collection system and an electric vehicle charger in the garage.

It’s perfect for the right person, but I imagine many wouldn’t want to live there, myself included. For me it would be too remote and too austere. It’s brilliantly done, but I like a home to be homely, perhaps because I’m in a colder climate.
think it’s a house for a particular type of person; a house somebody like an architect would love to live in. Desert living just wouldn’t be for me.
    Great job, though.

The thing about Wright and other previous masters is the buildings had soul. This one lacks soul, interest, and proportion.

Beautiful house. However the pretentious narration, pretentious music and pretentious camera work prevented me from gaining any useful knowledge about it.

'The clients...requested a modest home...' Well, you can't always get what you want...>.<
"...acetylated, burnt, wire brushed, stained, and sealed..." seems overkill to stain wood you've already burned...and why acetylate wood that you're going to protect by burning and sealing? Just seems like a few redundant / unnecessary moves...
It's a nice house; but I remain uncomfortable with a society where we can spend so much money and resources (up front and ongoing) on private homes that are only occasionally occupied...and in the Wildland / Urban Interface zone no less...
