- The Multi-Talented Mr Petherick is BACK at the chateau! He finally gets to open a mound of gifts that have been waiting for him since Christmas, and it's hard to drag him away from his pile of goodies. But I manage to prise him from them long enough for us to have a blast hunting for treasures at a big local brocante, and to get lost on an adventure in the heart of France

This weekly vlog follows the adventures of chatelaine Stephanie in her French 16th century home, the Chateau de Lalande, in the heart of rural France ❤️

Found your vlogs by way of Escape to the Chateau DIY (after watching every episode of Escape to the Country). I am in Heaven - everything in your vlogs is so entertaining and informative. I ❤️ history, antiques (so jealous of your brocantes - could spend hours and hours perusing all the wonderful items). Your life is what I’d dream mine to be, but I’ll be content living vicariously through you. Your family, friends, parties, animals (especially the hedgehogs and peacocks), food, food and more food, history lessons, etc. keep me entertained at night after settling down from my busy day. Lots more vlogs to catch up on, but it’s like a great big book that you hope will never end. I have visiting your chateau on my bucket list of things to do 💝🥰

Judging by his driving Ian and my dad must be long lost brothers! Honestly my family takes the exact route to every landmark we visit. Dad drove us around New Mexico for two days in the exact same fashion trying to reach a beautiful mountain we saw in the distance only to finally admit it was a mirage and give up! One of my favorite trips ever and your little fiasco reminded me.

Oh my the furniture🥰 Nova Scotia was founded in 1848 so we have nothing much in the line of beautiful heritage anything. Some things in museums and a few private collections that would cost a fortune if you could even find anything to buy.🥺 Well done Michael, you’re set for the winter, nice warm scarves , a dapper hat and yummy teas. I found one of those marble top tables/wash tables with the marble surround. Mine is a little longer - about 1,7meters, but took the mirror off and it is the perfect drinks table for a summer kitchen. Great for ice buckets, cutting lemons, limes, herbs and the bottles. Would also work fantastically for kettle/tea/coffee machine. Easy to wipe down, better than wood.

I love watching people open gifts - the anticipation is delicious :) Such a super video, Stephanie, chock full of all sorts of delights. I really appreciated seeing some of the brocante treasures and even driving around the gorgeous little town of Boussac trying to find the chateau entrance was such fun. The Lady and the Unicorn tapestries were in Australia a few years ago - each flown out in separate planes in case of a disaster - and I would have loved to pop over from NZ to see them but I was travelling in the northern hemisphere. I hope to see them one day, I have heard they are quite breathtaking. I'm so pleased the patreon page is flourishing - it is a pleasure to support all of your restoration efforts.

Lovely to see Mr Petherick again! Also, sweet to see the array of animals waiting for you outside your door. See the peacock has a new hen bird - fingers crossed for little peacocks in the spring! I really cannot believe all the different amount of wonderful things that you find in your charity shops over there (as opposed to UK - eeek!) The prices are astoundingly low for such treasures - wow! Another super fun vlog!

Well now, that was a great vlog. So happy to see Michael back and opening those wonderful gifts. Lets hope we get to see him with the full tweed outfit. I also love that Earl Grey Tea. There is nothing better. My jaw was dropping to hear the low prices of furniture at the brocantes. You would never find them here in Canada for those prices even though antiques are not so popular now. I am so glad you all found it so amusing trying to find your way to the castle. So typical of google to ask you to try and cross a pedestrian bridge! ha ha ha. At least you had a wonderful adventure out for the day.

cannot say how many times in winter in France my husband and I have done the Exact same thing trying to get to a CHATEAU is crazy funny! around and around and then it is closed! been there done this! so funny and glad to know even the experts do it!
