Thank you so much for the video! The ptac in our cabin had a lot of dust and maybe even mold built up on the wheel. This video was amazing, I was able to get it taken off and clean with no issues!
Awesome video man thank you thank you I work for US Vets as the maintenance guy and I've never messed with one of these PTAC units before thank you thank you
I have a Ptac unit in my patio with same problem. I did all the steps and took them off. - When you order the blower wheel does the nut & washer come with it that attaches to the motor? I didn't see you attach a new one in your video. - - The blower wheel has a lot of play left to right. I found the parts numbers from the one you gave one of the commenters. I've seen many of your video. You got talent buddy. Great explanations. Thank you.
i just commented on a diff video, mine sounds like this before u fixed it but only when turning on and off. while on it just makes extremely loud humming/air noise. does it just need insulation?
Hello Ava Sometimes the bearing on the left end of the blower wheel(when you are facing the unit) comes loose or out of the rubber housing, making a squeaking noise when the inside fan turns on or off. Would you be able to check?
i have a kilimaire unit buzzing and gets louder as it stay plugged in, yes it buzzs when unit is NOT running i took control board off and metal housing and SEEMS like its coming from the board? or maybe the silver cylinder? Capacitor of compressor?
Hey Travis The problem is that it's the rubber part on the blower wheel itself, therefore the entire blower wheel has to be replaced. The bearing is a separate part
I get a pulsating air sound on one of the ends of the blower. I can feel the air flow is on off really fast. Like it does not have enough air to blow out. If I cover the vent with my hand at the middle of ptac, the air comes out ok in that corner normally without the pulsating air sound. Like forcing more air to come out through the corners. Is there something inside the unit to control the air flow?
@@PtacSolutions There is on the left side of the unit a “switch/lever” that says vent control. It is in the close position. It seems stuck. Could this be related.
That lever is to open and close the back vent door that allows air from the outside in to the room, more than likely it has a screw that's keeping it shut. But no I don't think that has something to do with it. I went to a property last week which had a similar problem, and found a lot of dirt build up on the blower wheel. I took out the unit to wash it and that took care of it
Hello I was able to remove it because it was the rubber part that holds on tho the motor shaft was broken so there was no need to loosen it up. The older blower wheels use 2.5 mm hex and the newer newer ones use a T8 torx
@@PtacSolutions THANK YOU! i have spent so much time at ACE. i got the t8 only to come home and find out it does not unskrew the old one! now i know what to get.
QUESTION-PTACS at the property are not shooting up heat higher than 79 it’s max is 90 I have not seen any PTACS go up that high, due to the heat in the room, I’m sure that’s why the heater shuts itself off.
Hey Andy By factory default some ptacs like the Amanas come with a temperature limit of 80 degrees. That could be a reason why they won't work above that temperature
@@PtacSolutions I understand, I turned up 3 PTACS in 3 rooms in the morning, and went up later and none were above 772-76-79 …thanks for answering my questions 👍🏽👍🏽
Where would an Amanan get a loud zapping noise when the unit is turning off the part that makes the untit cold and is switching to the normal fan ,,, for like 6 or 7 minutes before it turns off. I just had my old Armana taken out and would hate to go through two. (This second one is a spare my family had because they couldn't stand the "humming" noise) Bullcrap, this is no hum, they tricked me. It's LOUD zapping that can be heard clear on the other side of the house! I hope you read thus and can comment at some point. I have a recording if can DM
Hey Tara Sorry to hear that. So the first thing I would do is check to see if any copper line would be rubbing against another, with the vibration of the compressor, could making a loud noise
Dude thank you so much! Just started a maintence job at a hotel a week ago. You are a life saver 🙏

Haha was not expecting to come across this video. This is the exact failure of what happened to my hvac unit 😅
Well done Man! Short and to the point... just the way a man explains it. Great video.

Hey Randy
I've come across many units with a buzzing noise and usually is the transformer
I did 3 of these after watching.
excellent video, do you know where to get the blower unit?
Hello I usually get them from the manufacturer, their number is 18002272919
Great video. Can you replace a bearing instead of the entire wheel?
Hey Travis

Hello
Is there any air flow restrictions, like for example dirty evaporator coil or a lot of dirt build up on the blower itself?
@@PtacSolutionsThey look pretty clean. Not a lot of dust..

Ok, thanks! I will call a local technician and order a clean up maintenance and get it checked. Thanks again for replying and for the advise!
Great video!
Any chance you have any info on how to get a Ramsond blower wheel out? I can't find anything on them online
No sorry, honestly I haven't even heard of the brand
@@PtacSolutions They're outta the PRC. LOL I imagine it's all Chinese if I could find the info. Thx for getting back.
How did you remove the Blower with out using hex. And if you use what size

What's the part # on the blower wheel and where do you order a replacement wheel from?
Hey John
Part number is 0150p00004s
I usually get parts from Amana this is their number:
18773760214
If you are replacing the blower cage I also recommend replacing the rubber bearing it seats in ! $1.12 from Goodman Amana
Part# 0163P00027
How did you put the little piece off the motor back on the motor?
I remove that piece completely. It broke off from the blower wheel
Good video. Thanks man
Same issue and fix it your way 👍🏻
Hi Please let us know why there is some 5/16 screw and some are 1/4 and also like machine screw. What is purpose of different screw on PTAC .
The 5/16 screws are basically to hold down front grille everything else will 1/4 screws( except the compressor)
Mine doesn't have a 2.5mm set screw. Its some size of Torques bit that I can't find the size of.
Hello,
That would be a T8 torx
@@PtacSolutions I watched the vid all the way through and saw that you called it out🥲
Hi do you know the part number ? The fan part
