also a tip for the 2x4s. when you look at the ends of the board, you may see a dot at the end with the "rings" of the tree going around it. DONT use those boards if the dot is visible at both ends. the dot is called the pith and it experiences the most amount of stress and tension and as the humidity rises/falls the board will be more likely to warp/bend/twist.
As a 31 year old dude getting bake into skating and all things rad; this video was very helpful and entertaining. Thank you dudes and thank you for running me through the math. The videos I've seen just show me measurements for the ramp they are building. You guys made a video that showed people how to make a ramp of any size. Cheers.
If you use all the tips of this video you can build it any size. We also have a video called “How to Make a $100 DIY Skatepark Ramp for Beginners in 2 Hours” that will teach you how to build it like an actual kicker
Thanks guys. Just built this ramp for my son. Turned out fantastic! Pro tip: flip it upside down after laying the base foundation. Then your ramp surface braces will be perfectly flat too!
I didn't search a lot for this in the comments, but if you remember to account for the blade width you'd be closer on the two side angles instead of having to sand it down as much.
Something you could also do is add 4 wheels on the front of the ramp, so you can put it on its side and roll it around no problem! I’m going to do this when I build mine. I cant wait!
Just FYI for anyone building this, you do not need that many two by four supports. It only makes it heavier, I would suggest one every eight inches. Always works when I build my kickers and ramps.
wow dude i just learnt that math thingy in school, but you explained it sooo much better then my math teacher, and english is not even near my first language im danish.
Made this kicker and it's so good made a few mistakes but doesn't really matter. And it's kinda tall but just need time to get used to and great since we're all home and there are no skateparks thanks!
This is a sufficient tutorial. Definitely gave me a basis of info and knowledge to "build" upon (har, har!). Numerical data/metrics/measurements will serve the community at large in replicating your design but while also scaling it to our individuals needs. I felt like there was some investigative work to be done to determine the length of the 2x4's. Either way, I appreciate the tutorial and plan to adopt it into my own design.
Awesome... got me thinking 🤔 why even bother with stressing the triangle piece or in other videos they make it concave. So long as your ramp is wide enough to not worry about a lip on the sides you could just screw the 2x into just about anything so long as the layout is the same on both sides
Pretty neat flipping Twisties there at the end, and my wife really enjoyed the tree Bonky Wonky’s and tippy tappies. And I’m sure your neighbors appreciate that you close the garage door when your using the drilly Willy’s and the hammer jammers

You helped me understand the Pythagorean Theorem better than my math book.👍
Stock Brothers it was better than my teatcher
Until this video I did not understand Pythagorean theorem and I’m nudging 40
Why do you need to use it you can just rule a line from the two lines ?
@@banjobaxter2681 notice he didn't really use it when marking the sides, lol.
Lol except he called it a "theory".
Please make a guide about how to do a quarter pipe

Thanks
undialed yess please me and my mate are planning to build one and need a good video
I got a mini ramp guide on my channel👌🏻
Cause there aren't any guides on those anywhere to be found

Have to account for that 1/8" for sure!
Solid explanations.
You guys work well.
Imma try this one for my son 🤘

Actually not sure, get something thats about the same thickness as a street sign
I didn't put metal on my quarter pipe and it got destroyed
