Underated UA-camr alert
Cj Code yo! Nice one man! Il keep posting vids and hopefully keep growing the channel 👍🏻
Awesome! Just make sure to let the coping pipe popping out a little before adding the transitions plywood, so when you add them it will be in the right place.
Thanks with the video . You helped me with it .
Thank you !!!
Man that is a great and easy design. I bought most of the material and will hopefully build it like yours. Thanks
Awesome man haave been looking for a video like this for ages thanks for helping out!!
Quality vid mate
Cheers pal, ill try n keep em coming.. you've had some out since I messaged other week.. I need to get out on local trials.. fitness is dropping
This is such a good video mate! Well done!
Thanks mate, been a while since I did this one but I should finish my garage series
Jake Marshall, can’t seem to reply to your comment mate but the pallets were free and to buy the other sheets/screws you might be looking at around £50-60
SUPER underated i subbed
Yo! Nice one 👍🏻👍🏻 please share if you think I need more subs, appreciate your comment.. do you ride ramps?
Reckon there would be a market for Reclaimed Skate Ramps. I love the idea of reusing junk to make something great
Ace B yeah, good to make use of anything instead of scrapping it and buying new.. do you skate or ride ramps much? It’s was good making this one
@@midpackrider yeah man, just got back into long board and rollerblading, I'm lucky to live a 15 minute walk (or 5 on a board) from three parks. I'm almost perfectly in the middle of all of them.
I just built this it’s awesome, but it is a little wobbly any way I can fix that
Saque make sure your screws are long enough and plenty of them 🤘🏼 happy shredding!
this helped me a ton and i wasnt gunna do it out of recycled materials either
Tanner Thacker good work! Glad it helped.. pallets come in for so many things.. used some old timber for this one too ua-cam.com/video/e3BE1ZhHT10/v-deo.html planning some more vids soon as we still have pallets and scrap timber to use 😁
i know it is quite randomly asking but does anyone know of a good place to watch new movies online ?
Where did you get 3/8 ply from? Seemed like that was only available in the USA! I've had loads of trouble with 9mm ply as recommended, so got 6mm birch coming tomorrow to try 2 layers of that
Paul Kerry Hi mate, 9mm has been the best Iv used, seems that the key is to screw at key points to get it to bend smoothly and inline then fill in the rest nice secure.. imagine the 6mm boards will bend a lot easier but be careful your studs are close enough together to stop the transition sagging between when it’s had some riding.. maybe if the 6mm does flex a bit, a third layer may help but might be ok.. what are you riding on it?
hope it goes will mate👍🏻
@@midpackrider hey thanks for the reply. Studs are pretty close to be honest, plus we're inline aggressive skaters and using the ramps indoors in a sports hall. Maybe a 9mm birch will bend easier than our marine ply, but it didn't seem to when I looked at it yesterday. Will try 2 x 6mm and see 🤞
Paul Kerry no worries.. used to be big into the aggressive skates in the past.. any DIY you think might be a good idea for my channel.. let me know 👍🏻
@@midpackrider I've just surveyed the ramp again and decided to put a transition piece in the middle to sure the ramp up. Our other 8ft is 2 x 4ft ones joined together and that's ok. Lining up the ply just now it seems to bow in the middle. Might go back to 9mm after all haha.
I like Ryobi tool reviews as I'm bang into them at the moment and building a collection. Other than that, maybe build some other cool skate park things like a fun box etc...
Paul Kerry yes, actually for the ramp I didn’t add for the bike but might be worth a thin metal plate at the base for smaller wheels, I’m think of adding this to a kicker build and a turning the quarter into a box jump as & when so thanks..
Appreciate the comment and watch this space 😀
So if I'm understanding this correctly. I need, in total 11 2x4 wooden planks and 3 8x11 sheets of plywood? First time working with wood so...
Hi Parker,
How’s it going? Yeah 11 lengths of 4x2 timber at 4ft or 1200mm long to frame the transition. The 18mm OSB or Plywood for the sides is done with No1 8’x4’ sheet (standard size). The 2 layers on the curved surface is thinner 3/8” or 9mm Ply and for this you will need No2 sheets at 8x4. Please subscribe for more DIY like this coming soon.. nice one and good luck 👍🏻
Hey mate how do you attach the coping to the ramp?
Ey up mate, check holes at 3.01s - drill pilot holes through the coping wide enough for the screw thread and one inline at the other side for the screw head so a it can be screwed through to the stud at the top of the transition but the screw heads will grab when they hit the smaller hole on the inside.. you’ll need a long screwdriver bit that will reach to do this, good luck man!
I dont have any materials at home which i can use so what are the exact materials that you need?
Would help a lot thanks
@@larshbn OK, in metric you will need:
No1 sheet of 1220 x 2440mm OSB or PLY at 18mm
No 1 sheet of 1220 x 2440mm PLY at 9mm for the top (2 layers)
No 6 lengths of 100mm x 50mm (4x2) timber at 2.4m
50mm screws for the 9mm ply deck
75mm screws for the stud frame
If your doing the coping, you could go to a small engineering company for this, the metal tube i used is about 50-60mm diameter and the holes need to be bigger on one side to let the screw head pass through to the inside and grab on the smaller holes to fix it 👍🏻 good luck and please subscribe for more DIY vids like this soon 😃
how much would this cost in u.s.d? i just went to the skatepark for my first time and i wanted to make my own quarter pipe so i can skate it and progress
Hey, around $60-70 maybe if your buying everything? The pallet wood could be free if you have someone that you know in construction work.. good luck 👍🏻
@@midpackrider thank you i might be able to make some 2x4s out of some fallen trees if they are in good condition
@@bradymarleymusic if you’ve got the tools for it, I’m sure it would work.. hope it works out, I want to get some more DIY vids on.. any ideas?
@@midpackrider you could build a kicker ramp. those are actually kinda simple to build
What is the height? I would love to see a box jump
Hey! How’s it going.. the height is 3ft on the quarter, I’ll be making some ramps in the backyard hopefully soon, now the uk spring season is coming 🤟🏼🤟🏼 you ride ramps?
@@midpackrider i ride scooters but I never been to a skatepark, I wanna build the biggest ramp but I need it to be movable since I have like no storage
Whats the sheet that’s on top called
Top of the curved transition is 9mm plywood Or top flat deck section is 18mm plywood
Was that luan wood for top layer?
Hey man, Plywood was for the top layer yes 9mm.. please subscribe for more like this 👍🏻 cheers!
Can you give me the wood measurements please?
All measurements are in the video if it helps, otherwise which particular do you need?
@@alliieen863
9mm plywood is 2400mm x 1200mm
18mm OSB board is 900mm high and curve starts after you decide on how big to do the deck.
4”x2” timbers are 1200mm long
Hope you can understand this in metric measurements
Good luck
Never heard someone say a 4x2
Hey Austin, you in US? 4x2 is how we say it in uk 😄 always wondered if someone may mention this 👌🏻👌🏻
@@midpackrider I’m from canada. I’ve watched a ton of videos & never heard that in my life hahah
I kinda skipped through the vid. So idk if u said this or not. But how much was the cost?
@@Adonis_RL yes, indoors propped up right to save space had meant it is ok, I don’t think outside it would have unless stood on some suppers off the ground with a water proof sheet cover
How much will this cost
RxR Panda in the UK around £50-£60 or US $70-$80 perhaps.. I got the pallet wood for free from a delivery but some merchants will have these cheap too where ever you are
Propa’ fukin accent that mate. Nice job.
Spent many an hour waiting for my nan to buy me a matchbox car in Barnsley town center.
@@Lothnothus haha good old days.. nice one.. defo getting easier to let the true accent come out with each video now, this one was while ago but can’t believe views on it👍🏻👍🏻
is your curved part 3 ft high and the bottom is 4ft?
Eyup Benjamin, the ramp is 3ft high yes but the length along the bottom is based on where the string swings round to the edge with the marker to get the curve 👍🏻
Please can you tell me all the measurements
All the measurements are in the video if you want to watch through again, main ramp is 4ft wide, 3ft high
why did you do it the tittle "in your backyard"
Interesting question.. I wanted to show people how to build one in their back yard I suppose.. is the video helpful to you?
Eyup guys! links in description for the cheap tools you will need to make this quarter pipe 🤘🏼
How much it cost
@@oliverbiss2747 I think nowadays around £75
