    Where did you get 3/8 ply from? Seemed like that was only available in the USA! I've had loads of trouble with 9mm ply as recommended, so got 6mm birch coming tomorrow to try 2 layers of that

    • @midpackrider
      @midpackrider 4 роки тому

      Paul Kerry Hi mate, 9mm has been the best Iv used, seems that the key is to screw at key points to get it to bend smoothly and inline then fill in the rest nice secure.. imagine the 6mm boards will bend a lot easier but be careful your studs are close enough together to stop the transition sagging between when it’s had some riding.. maybe if the 6mm does flex a bit, a third layer may help but might be ok.. what are you riding on it?
      hope it goes will mate👍🏻

    • @paulkerry5583

      @@midpackrider hey thanks for the reply. Studs are pretty close to be honest, plus we're inline aggressive skaters and using the ramps indoors in a sports hall. Maybe a 9mm birch will bend easier than our marine ply, but it didn't seem to when I looked at it yesterday. Will try 2 x 6mm and see 🤞

      @@midpackrider I've just surveyed the ramp again and decided to put a transition piece in the middle to sure the ramp up. Our other 8ft is 2 x 4ft ones joined together and that's ok. Lining up the ply just now it seems to bow in the middle. Might go back to 9mm after all haha.
      I like Ryobi tool reviews as I'm bang into them at the moment and building a collection. Other than that, maybe build some other cool skate park things like a fun box etc...

    • @midpackrider
      @midpackrider 4 роки тому +1

      Paul Kerry yes, actually for the ramp I didn’t add for the bike but might be worth a thin metal plate at the base for smaller wheels, I’m think of adding this to a kicker build and a turning the quarter into a box jump as & when so thanks..

    • @midpackrider
      @midpackrider 3 роки тому

      Hi Parker,
      How’s it going? Yeah 11 lengths of 4x2 timber at 4ft or 1200mm long to frame the transition. The 18mm OSB or Plywood for the sides is done with No1 8’x4’ sheet (standard size). The 2 layers on the curved surface is thinner 3/8” or 9mm Ply and for this you will need No2 sheets at 8x4. Please subscribe for more DIY like this coming soon.. nice one and good luck 👍🏻

    @bandobilly1341 4 роки тому +1

    Hey mate how do you attach the coping to the ramp?

    • @midpackrider
      @midpackrider 4 роки тому +2

      Ey up mate, check holes at 3.01s - drill pilot holes through the coping wide enough for the screw thread and one inline at the other side for the screw head so a it can be screwed through to the stud at the top of the transition but the screw heads will grab when they hit the smaller hole on the inside.. you’ll need a long screwdriver bit that will reach to do this, good luck man!
