So glad i came across this video. I grew up 10 min from Dorney Park. Spent much of my childhood going there. This brought back so many awesome memories. Thanks for posting!
After visiting Dorney this past weekend (July '22), I've been hit with so much nostalgia. I've been on UA-cam finding as many Dorney videos that I could find to see how much the park changed during my earliest memories there. Watching this brought back so many memories hit the mark for me, when I would go here in the late 90's / early 00's with my friends and family. Seeing the jump from '93 to '97 at the very end shows just how much the park changed once it was bought by Cedar Point. There are still so many great historical landmarks and attractions at the park to this day (Thunder Hawk, The Whip, Thunder Creek Mtn, Zephyr, etc). Proud to be from Allentown, and have Dorney Park as one of the best parks in the world. This footage really brought me back. Thank you.
Wow, Dorney looked so different. It reminds me of Knoebels in this video. My issue with Cedar Fair is that they have made Dorney look too corporate and removed its charm. This was 1993 and the charm was still there. I get that parks have to change but Dorney is pretty much unrecognizable these days.
I mean, tbh dorney has alot of charm imo. It's a beautiful park, more so then many cedar fair parks. The one thing it needs is any form of large investment. Preferably a modern wooden coaster? There last original coaster was hydra, last flat rides I believe was kaleidoscope. I'm thankful for what the park has, it's collection of rides is amazing. Especially demon drop. But it needs some tlc especially where dinos uses to be
@@arkitect156there are several areas of the park that need some investment for sure. The area where Dinosaurs Alive next to Steel Force and Revolution has enough space for a roller coaster. Also, the area below the Ferris Wheel and next to the Sea Dragon needs to be updated. There’s empty spots that can fit flat rides and a new coaster can be built over those old pavilions near the Whip. There’s an empty lot by Thunderhawk and Scrambler. What about the Speedway area near Demon Drop? Then at Wildwater Kingdom, they never fixed an area near Patriots plunge that used to be a go kart attraction. Maybe where Good Times Theatre is needs some re-evaluation.
28:10...idk if many people know this but that ladies and gentlemen was projection screen for the nighttime laser light show they used to do...I'll never forget watching that but I am disappointed in learning how many people have forgotten...just like no one remembers that it was Berenstain Bears Country before the whole Snoopy theme took over...and there was giant tree with a slide in it which I'm pretty sure is at 29:34.
wow! seein this brought back sooo many memories.. ive been goin to Dorney since 86.. i was hopin to see Journey To The Center Of The Earth and the starship ride next to it but i forgot they were removed by the time you recorded this.. it was nice though however to see Thunderhawk's old entrance and the tunnel it used to go through before the lift hill.. in fact we were just there last week and i was tellin her about the large lego sign that was placed on the lifthill and she looked at me like i was crazy.. i can now show it to her! it was great seein the way Zepher looked and how that entire area was completely different.. i remember the boats ride.. the skyride.. the Lazer.. Hercules.. im in my 40s now and everytime i go with my daughter, i always tell her how the park looked back then but now i can actually show her..
This was back when Dorney Park was good. Back before those corporate big wigs from Cedar Fair came in and started adding all these big fancy rides from the future. Before they put a focus on safety and brought the park into the 21st Century. Shame on them for investing hundreds of millions of dollars into the park, they ruined it!
And they razed Journey to the Center of the Earth and Meteorite, after 1992 and 1993. Those were very old rides that were rethemed over the years. Mill Chute was rethemed Journey in 1960 by the late Bill Tracy from NJ who passed Aug 1974, right around the time when Pirate's Cove was being redone as Bucket O' Blood by his company. The PTC Cuddle Up was themed Iceberg in the late 70's, it was the old Bob Ott's idea. He passed March 2007 a month after his wife Sarah Sally Plarr Ott. They lived at Luther Crest for several years. Iceberg was rethemed Meteorite around 1989 or 1990. In 1994 Patio Pizza was built there, which later became a bbq place and now the new home of the ice cream stand. The old one was razed for landscaping.
WOW, crazy to see how much Dorney has changed. I've only been going there since about 2004 so I never knew the park was so different before Cedar Fair bought it. Seeing it without Steel Force towering in the back is weird haha you can see that and Dominator from miles away. There's certain things I wish CF would have left alone though such as Thunderhawk in it's older form.
It's really amazing. They're recording all of these minorities and they're not fighing or shooting each-other. Tail-tell sign that it's not a recently recorded video.

Seeing those hover craft bumper cars. I could smell the exhaust fumes coming thru the video. Wholly carbon monoxide..😅😅

Thank you for sharing this video.
When they put in Hercules, they destroyed Journey to the Center of the Earth. I’m not bitter.
Maybe one day I would like to visit there sometime

Thanks for this video! I was trying to figure out the ride in the dark .. The Meteor!!
I’m not sure about that last clip because steel force was added in 1997
Thanks for the memories!
Steel force opened in 1997
I remember having my first kiss on that sky ride.

Awesome!
Oh man, that Pittsburgh accent is ridiculous
Talon was not in this video
Obviously
CEDAR FAIR SUCKS!!!!!!!
They completely ruined Dorney
