- Xavier invites up bass and sax legends Marcus Miller and Donald Hayes to play his hit song, If You Want Me To Stay, at Manny Marroquin's restaurant, Verse in Los Angeles. Xavier's all star band includes Stanley Randolph (drums), Ethan Farmer (bass), Yohei Nakumura (guitar).
Marcus Miller has such a signature sound. He makes any song sound so smooth and awesome. Xavier plays so beautiful.

This sounds so CD101 ! Smooth jazz sucks ! Marcus rocks …but this safe jazz is a fucked up marketing thing . Fusion yes ! Smooth jazz just die already.
This is smooth, yes, but in a good way in my opinion. There's plenty going on musically to keep it interesting
Plenty going on w the keyboardist's mouth lol @@colinthorn
Smooth Jazz seems to be mostly instrumental R&B, whereas Fusion is mostly Jazz with an R&B flavor.
Kenny G watered down the fusion he was doing with Jeff Lorber to the point of making 'Smooth Jazz' something that serious musicians really didn't want to be associated with.
My favorites are the current Fusion artists like Valeriy Stepanov, Snarky Puppy, Sonny Emory, Yohan Kim and Dirty Loops. Jeff Lorber is still doing it.
There's some Smooth Jazz I like by Corey Wong, Nate Smith and Vulfpeck...
Just my 2 cents
No space.... gospel
