When I was there the other day there were cranes by the top hat with people inspecting it alongside workers on the launch track.
I'm starting to believe the track on the tower and top hat needs replaced!
Obviously there inspecting it for any abnormalities. High speeds like this put a lot of stress on the tracks. Hopefully, nothing serious is found as that would mean a track replacement and ride closed until next season. As much as it sucks, it's better safe then sorry for a ride this fast with this much G force and stress. Also be thankful that Cedar fairs continues to invest in this ride with as much trouble as it's been. It's really not worth it to them and could be replaced with something newer and less problematic. Obviously, the owners and management want this coaster to stay no matter the maintenance cost and issues and it will open again.
TT2 is a prototype with prototype trains made from a prototype folks.
It’s unfortunate but it will open again. There’s no way CP would spend 30 million and not reopen this attraction.
They didnt pay 30 million
Top Thrill 2 is a prototype made from a prototype
@@tylerisbest333top thrill dragster isn’t the prototype hydraulic launch coaster, xcelerator at knotts berry farm is.
Its just gonna be one of those things that if you were there the first week you were lucky enough to ride it. Remember Vertigo? Yeah nobody does.
The voice is giving "Let's be serious" energy. 😂
I did get to ride it once before the shut down. It was incredible and I can't wait for it to reopen.
My once in a lifetime trip is 1 week away. It's such a long shot but PLEASE CEDAR POINTTTT
GAAAHHH I HOPE YOU GET THE CHANCE TO RIDE IT!!!!
SAME IM GOING IN 6 DAYS!!!!!!!!! PLEASEEEEEE
The Fury situation was shocking to me not only because it was a B&M just the fact no one saw the crack
Ironic because Kraken at SeaWorld Orlando had the same issue with a support shearing off. Maintenance found that issue before the public did though and SeaWorld covered it with a tarp until it could be fixed.
Carowinds does structural inspections on Fury twice a year. I don't think they accounted for the year round operations that year. It gets inspected every 3-4 months now.
Considering you can see it from the park's main entrance pathway
There’s a great possibility that the crack started out as a hairline fracture and then gave way complete during operation.
I’m remaining optimistic that it’ll be open by mid August
Hopefully! I’m going in a few weeks for the first time
@@Givebill same here! I’m going end of august
I hope not. I'll be going next week. That'd be just my luck 🤣
Thing opens the next day after I leave.
@@tennessee.tiger1988 RIP
I hope so! 🤞🏻🤞🏻
I'm sure Intamin is thinking "See what happens when you work cheaper"
I think they are trying to look at any issues so there wouldn’t be as many downtimes. They may also be doing inspections to make sure that no one could get seriously injured. The second point would make sense since the previous wheels had too much equipment surrounding it.
Yeah that could be why they are trying to make this ride as safe as possible and probably not reopening until next year just to make sure. Can't believe it's August and we haven't heard anything since Mid-May which is really crazy.
Now is it really Top Thrill Dragster, or a big Wicked Twister?
Imagine if the spike was twisted 😮
@@BrandonPolk-x4i That would be awesome!
Should have just kept Wicked Twister. That ride had little problems and a short line for the most part. Buf they repalced it with a food stop and wild mouse ride that was designed by the same company that was not ready to take on this project. Go figure. And now Snake River Falls is closing. Cedar Point sucks anymore. I was there the year the Magnum opened back in 89, I was 9. That ride still continues on every year!
L take, Top Thrill 2 will reopen and it is so much better than Wicked Twister…plus they might be closing Snake River Falls to make room for a coaster
They close rides now to make room for more restaurants.
They are willing to invest into making this a protype and obviously there having issues and safety is their number one priority. It'll re-open next year once the park is satisfied it is safe and fixed. They really seem to be looking into the tracks and infrastructure right now, as I'm assuming they have some concerns over the old tracks and such. Might be looking at some replacements in it. CF has shown they'll invest into this coaster to keep it safe and going. So, wouldn't surprise me if some track and infrastructure pieces get replaced in the off season.
I'm here right now and the workers cant say anything but the word is next yeae
I would imagine, there not going to rush it and will double and triple check every last little thing. They may decide to replace some of the old track and such as it could have abnormalities in it that have been found. I heard cranes were there and now maintenance looking over the tracks which is not a good sign. Just be happy their willing to invest this much into a coaster with so many problems. Most parks would just replace it with something less problematic and less maintenance. This really is the iconic coaster for them and they know it has to be perfectly safe for everyone. You'll get to ride it for years to come once it's safe and you can be assured the park has your best interest in mind. As much as it sucks to wait. :)
@@SamWitney*they're
This ride will not open this year. Remember where you heard it
Sorry yall but if I bet money this ride isn't opening till next year
For crying out loud guys just be patient there's no doubt in the mind is going to reopen up just don't know when
Can't wait
This aged well
I really hope they didn't change the speed/height the train goes. I have a gut feeling they did.
Lmao, how could they do this. The top hat is 420 ft tall, they're not gonna modify it
@@tyfallon Top Thrill 2 flew over that top hat faster than Top Thrill dragster. So it wouldn't surprise me if they slow it down a little if that is part of the issue.
I understand maintenance issues happen on these machines but that’s not even the issue. The issue is why is Cedar Point being hush hush about it ? Considering this ride doesn’t have the best reliability history, they should probably keep people in the loops. Being quiet for some time is to be expected but honestly…this long? Do they not know what to say? It’s just stupid.
Ryan the ride mechanic.
someone had video of workers shining UV light on the track at night. Ryan the ride mechanic said that they probably put a UV compound on it and were checking for microscopic cracks and that it was probably the NDT company doing it. I hope this is a normal NDT inspection and not a sign of structural failure. they are probably going to have to cycle it a whole lot before the state of Ohio signs off on it so I'm not getting my hopes up until we see a crap ton of test runs for like a week in a row
I believe the track on the tower and tophat needs replaced!
@@braddougan1919*needs TO BE replaced
Cool
Poor baby needs some love 💔
I'll be there August 16-17 so please open 🤣
Me too!
I’m going on the 19-20 💀
i’m going on the 10th, not looking to good for me😂
We’ve been here for the last 2 days. I can report nothing at all is happening. No ones working on it and no one’s been in there. Of course it’s not a normal day at CP if something isn’t broken down. This is the worst large coaster park in the US.
theres a chance it may reopen this year :D
Fury was not down for 2.5 months. I think it was June 30-August 10.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but the park has been inspecting the original track with UV lights, as well as marking spots on multiple supports. So it probably won't open until 2025.
After this, I just cannot see Cedar Point working with Zamperla again, or for Zamperla to make any more major thrill coasters
Real, I was on the side that maybe cp would work with intamin, and when i found out they were working with zamperla i had the feeling it would fail, or break right away
You do realize the section of track that they are checking is intamin’s right?
@@danhallas3546 that should have been replaced when they were building the coaster because it was almost 20 years old
Not looking good for TT2
I just got told yesterday it will open today
First
I’ve ridden it 9 times before the ride even officially opened to the public and first rider media day pass holders because I worked there in the beginning of the season. It’s an amazing and exhilarating thrill. If I were anyone I would hold off on going to the park again until it opens but that’s just me. I’ve already rode everything else in the park.🤙🏿😎💚🫶🏿
Won't open until 2025
This ride isn't opening until next year..
Safer, the better!
Safety first!
