We need to accept the fact the forest nothing 256x mod is becoming a competitive game mode and start funding development for a spec overlay that tells you how many times a player has researched double bit axe and other techs.
@Addict C Depends entirely on what your requirements are for the run. In this video the player technically lost by deleting his king after chopping the forest. So if you set victory as one of the requirements of the run, then any% would be sniping the enemy king as soon as humanly possible.

Maybe for it to be an "official" speedrunning challenge, a custom map should be made where the tc is for example always in the middle and the AI in a corner. The more your tc is in the middle, the better for you as all Corners can be accessed rather fast I think.
Goths would be the best civ; the huskarls would eat up the TC fire in case the opponent garrisons when you get to him. This strat might be so OP that it goes under the radar for a long time

I wonder if Indians might be a good shout for it. Once you get up and rolling on market the bonus doesn't seem that much for 5 more wood or so. Whereas you're saving a lot of food for every vill so saving food trade and more early chopping upgrades.
T90, you could start various challenges like that and cast the most interesting/best submissions! Wonder race, maybe without mods and on various (custom, fair) maps, would be nice, too. Or custom challenges like getting to 200 pop asap.

He could convert the enemy villagers with a monk and then deleting the monk after all conversions where made. That gives him extra vils. I used to do that back in the day when the demo of aoc was released. I just walled the last enemy tc and converted every villager he created. I enden having like 1.2k vils. Good old days. :)
It should be 1,436,800 wood (= (120tiles maplength x 120 tiles mapwidth - 2 x 16tile tc )x 100 wood/tree, but some villager might not have dropped the missing 1968 off by the end of the record and still hold the wood.

I'm surprised by how strong the forest nothing trend has been. Lots of potential for a speedrun category ironically. I would make my own "forest nothing" games as a kid because I was kind of bad and it gave me time to build up. Didn't know any commands aside from resource cheats so I had to find creative ways to keep the AI from resigning. Also the crappy laptop I was using couldn't run a full small size map of trees without lagging so I would plonk a river down the middle and let the Ai start next to it. Giving it something to do by exploring the river killed two birds with one stone.
Hidden Cup 2 is shaping up to be quite the event! I have hard commitments on the 12th and the 14th, and timezone differences might play havoc with things, but I'll watch what I can!

I don't know the civ bonuses, but if it's a multiplayer map anything that gets you to the market before the other players is the most important bonus

I think the tree is first a building with a small heathbar. So after sappers, villagers kill the tree faster. That's my theory.

This does depend on how well glitching goes, little bit glitch dependent too. Quality content though!

How can the total wood collected be in something other than a 100-denomination when the trees only offer 100 wood?
Full clears like this need to end with deleting every unit. Start from nothing, end with nothing.
