Oxford Blues…… the first bootleg cd I ever bought. Loved it! Slowly started switching over from zeppelin bootlegs on tape to cd. Record Conventions in the 80’s and 90’s were the best. I’d always load up on new live Zeppelin shows. Cheers ✌️❤️
Hear, hear! I couldn’t agree more. He was a very special musician - Bonzo was. We are lucky to be around the same time as Zeppelin! Think for second about the huge span of time…and to be around in the same slice of time as Zeppelin was is just astounding to me. We’re very lucky. We’ll likely not ever see another quartet like them ever again. They were the perfect band and at the perfect time - the ultimate unit.
In a hypothetical case where you would make a No Quarter using the best live versions of this song (such as you did with Dazed and Confused Australasia 1972), which versions would you play by NQ?
They were entering their technical height at this point. Wielding their art via the music. Jimmy was on point and razor sharp now and unfortunately it wouldn’t last long at all. I just visited the last night LA Forum boot 3.27.75 and felt embarrassed. For example during Trampled Underfoot Jimmy sounded at a loss, in a fog and failed to signal the rest of the group back in from his disjointed solo. It was awful. The others were on to it (you can hear them cueing, trying to say “let’s go!”) and this was gonna be a huge problem going forward. The drugs really started it’s grip on Jimmy by ‘75. Which is why ‘73 remains my favorite, hands down. No other tour can compare to what they did and how the group sounded in ‘73. The interplay between Bonzo and Jimmy here is breathtaking. There’s no other word to describe it. Bonham had great “guitar ears.” He was a true blue musician through and through!
4 gifted and talented musicians have created a supergroup: LED ZEPPELIN
been saying UK 1973 is a goated era for Dazed

By the way…is that a Hagstrom 8-string bass Jones in sporting in the thumb pic here? That’s odd.
