- Bob and Chris return for bottle dig #2 at the historic trash dump next to the Carriage House, located behind the 1886 Loeb Hilburn home. Watch them recover several blown-in-the-mold bottles (pre-1915) and a rare pharmacy exclusive to City of Palatka.

As always, thank you for watching…Bob H. Lee
The long neck is a Hock wine. I've found the red amber ones and olive glass ones. I finally found a whole Cuticura Const. Humours from Boston in 2019.
You are correct! However, I did not know that when we pulled it out. We found half a dozen broken…this was the only one recovered intact. Beautiful bottle…
Thanks for this upload. Was gratifying to see you guys working with a local historian to add to the knowledge base of your community.
I appreciate your kind words. If you check my most recent vid, you’ll find a straight up and unusual history piece from Crescent City, entitled, A Railway Ticket Office without a Train.
I saw when you were pulling out that broken Bitterquille bottle that you hit a layer of lime. Usually you get that layer when you are digging an outhouse. I wonder if you dug deeper you might have found some more stuff.
Hi Paul, thank you so much for watching and for the comment. You are correct about the lime. We dug about 2.5 maybe 3,’ until we hit white sand and that was the end of it. To be sure we probed 4’ below that and nothing. It wasn’t uncommon too, for folks to dump the privy Pooh in the trash dump. I’ve seen that before…maybe just a Florida thing. I don’t know??? Only been at this for 1.5 years.
I live in lithia Florida on an old homestead ... I’ve found bottle when digging fence post how do I pin point a dump site ? Or how do I decide where to dig if I don’t have a metal detector?
Hi Justin, send me your email address and I’ll send you my PX so we can talk by phone. It would be more efficient that way. Also, check out my Bottle Dump Hunt video, I talk about use of a probe more extensively there. We can also talk about you getting some clear bottles. Thank you.
Excellent video, Bob! I'd love to meet up one of these days.
Many thanks, WILDKYLE…yes, I would enjoy getting together. Why don’t we do this…the next time my wife and I go to Gainesville to take care of our grandson we could meet up and chat for a bit. We normally go every other Tuesday. I don’t know how this would mesh with your schedule…I’m retired, so have a more flexible schedule. Please contact me on my email, BL gamewarden
Okay the previous message was an accidental discharge. Please contact me at my email, blgamewarden@gmail.com so we can continue our discussion off UA-cam. Thanks…
My house was built in 1803. I've been trying to find pits but no luck. Any out buildings are long gone. Some day I hope to find the mother load. Congrats!
If it’s up north in rocky soil and rural you may have a problem, unless you find the privy. If you’re in a town it’s easier because if the small lot sizes. From what I understand a lot of trash dumps in hilly areas were on the banks of creeks and in gullies, not necessarily buried. The good thing about Florida is the trash dumps tend to be not very deep due to the low elevation. Best of luck.
@@relicrescueusa3803 I'm on 2 acres up north. Have an old stone farmhouse. I randomly find glass. Have found a few 1800s bottles by luck and clearing some old over growth. One day I hope I find the honey hole! Thanks for the tips but like you said it's not going to be easy since I'm rural and have a large area to cover.
Couple of old farts having fun. Cant believe it but I have joined there ranks
Yes, and now because of the heat it’s hard to call it fun. But we will continue in the mornings for a few hours when it’s tolerable.
Well done awesome finds
Thank you!
Embossed local drug bottles are rare on their own. You found 2 so far. The one being made for only 2 years must have a high bale to the right collector. Either way a grwat piece of history there. Thanks for sharing really enjoyed the video.
Howdy Clockwork Gnome, thanks for weighing in on the L. C. Canova pharmacy. Your opinion adds validity to what we believed. I have passed it along to Chris and our local historian, Larry Beaton.
Great tip on how to dig and find bottles and still what a terrific site 👍
Thanks for your interest and for sticking with it.
@@relicrescueusa3803 yep I rang that bell so I will be seeing more 👍
neat finds👍 liked and subbed
Hey J Steel, Many thanks for watching and joining up. Have to get on a lawn mower right now (after all, this is Florida) but will make sure to check out your UA-cam and become a Sub. It looks interesting.
Great finds!
Thank you.
nice finds!
Hi Glenn, many thanks for taking the time to watch and comment.
Awesome finds Bob!👍
Thank you for the very kind comment, Howard. We’ve about mined this trash pit for all the goody we can get out of it.
