This toxicity stems from the USA. I’m English, working class, from the potteries. My ancestors were slaves in all but name … and the poverty they endured was unimaginable. They built the city of Stoke on Trent with their white blood, sweat and tears, digging the coal, making the steel and skilfully producing pottery for the world to buy. They farmed the fields, dug the canals… they did that, not slaves fro elsewhere, but enslaved by their cultural peers.
I am so fearful for the future of my children … I worked hard, backed by my family, went to uni and became a teacher … for this? For this nightmare of a country? I see my freedoms compromised, I’m lied to, cheated on, misled…and my grandad fought in Gallipoli for this? The Somme? The D day landings … for this series of treacherous governments? Where is the duty of care to the people of this country, the people who pay for it? Why aren’t the army on the beaches of Kent ? Where’s the navy? This is all madness and I have no idea where we start to put things right.

I also wonder where the navy is. Even in the US we know the Royal Navy ruled the seas for centuries. It’s sad to say that Nelson and a handful of wooden frigates and some black powder, given free rein, would stop the entire “small boats” issue inside of a few weeks. Today’s Royal Navy seems to not even have a presence on the seas, by comparison.

Wouldn’t you at least be a bit shocked and disappointed that someone who seemed to be on the same wavelength as oneself generally would do such a thing! Of course even though my husband likes to think he’s always right I needed some verification, hence the question. I’m so terribly sorry for straying off comment for something so trivial!

Multi racialism won't work either, we are different and group together by race naturally. Like Rafe said though 1980s demographics were fine the way they were, still a few people of different races but because they were in such small numbers they were forced to not group together and integrate and because the English were so dmographicaly large they had something to integrate into while still leaving England and the Enlglish visably still what they are. I don’t have an identity crisis, my family have lived in these isles forever and I an English. I always put that on every form that asks for my place of birth. I instinctively know what my culture is but I’m interested in all others as they enrich us all, however I do not appreciate having mine degraded, mocked or removed and I carry on being English.

That was the motive for travel, to see other places, peoples and cultures and to broaden one’s mind. Nothing wrong with that, but it IS wrong to bring all those different cultures and peoples here in order to replace and erase the native peoples of our islands.
We don’t want mass immigration or immigration from dissimilar cultures. We should limit immigration to those from Northern Europe, USA, Canada and Australia because their cultures are so similar to ours.
White indigenous Britons should be at least 96% of the population - as it still was in 1994 because it is our heritage, it is our ancestors that built this country and they would turn in their graves to see how much has been given away 😢

The biggest tragedy about past migration, especially from the likes of pakistan etc, they took thousands of these people from the poorest parts of that place, still used to burning dung and little else, and plonked them into old industrial and mining towns which were little better off with unemployment, drugs, crime and god knows what else.
Why they did any of this at the time thinking it was a good idea is anyones guess.

Joey Barton , I don't think we have a duty of care to take people in because they are in fear of their house being bombed unless that country is nearest to us geographically . People are supposed to flee to their nearest safe country so that they can be more easily repatriated when their war is over . That has always been the rule until now . During the world war we didn't flee to other countries , men and women stayed to fight for our country and we sent our children to live in the more safe countryside . I love Rafe's idea that all refugees must be sent to safe countries that are on the same continent as them .

The Brits did pay reparations of a sort, they paid the taxes which funded the Royal Navy in its mission to abolish slavery.
Nobody mentions the brain drain from the UK, who are the 100,000s leaving each year?
I was worried about this, I had a vision of Native white British heading out and None Natives coming in which is obviously going to swap the demographic in just few years.
But the stats are not as scary as I thought. Last year, 50'000 Brits left, 120'000 from EU Countries and 260'000 Non EU countries. Around half the Brits that left had duel citizenship, British Indian and Pakistani etc.
More people are going back and fourth to their home countries than I previously thought.
Expired work and student VISAs are included in those stats which makes me wonder why the establishment doesn't mention that as it would calm a lot of people down.

I you believe you owe a 'duty of care' to people from war torn countries, that's fine, even commendable. But you can fulfil that duty in numerous ways without destroying your own country. You can provide aid to ensure refugees are cared for in neighbouring countries. You can even provide temporary residency in your nation, but with strict conditions that the person or family (including any chlidren born) must return to their home nation. Another option is to create a refugee safe haven for all refugees across the globe. It could be a part of a land of a host nation who is paid by the UN like a tenancy, to house refugees. Or you could create stable vessels at sea to accept refugees. There are many options. Just like there are many options to assist homeless people, instead of inviting them into your home.
You have a long journey ahead Joey.

As a highland Scot, I am painfully aware that my forebears were ethnically cleansed by the English-the Highland clearances were no fabrication, and as for the union of 1707, the vast majority of Scots had no say in it, it was imposed upon them.
