Have we totally underestimated how good Tony Cottee's club career was, an incredible finisher. My Point: Football is meant to be enjoyed, not analysed and Cottee is worth watching back on, not measured as an international striker.
Cottee wasn't measured as an international striker becauase he wasn't clinical enough, missed too many chances. He quite often went 7 or 8 gams without a goal, and in the 80s that's not exactly incredible. Cottee was a good striker, good goalscoring record, not world class. Especially when you look at strikers like Ian Rush, Gary Libeker and Jon Aldridge, who were much beter tah Cottee.
Stupid decision by the referee - handball off the line saves certain goal then then someone score from the rebound so he punishes the scoring team by making them take the penalty....ludicrous
What a game ,ended up on the floor of the chicken run and was dragged back on to my feet by my collar. Seem to remember a smoke bomb being let off in the away end!
John, I was just about to post about the firework/smokebomb and I saw that you beat me to it. I was in the South Bank that day, near to the Chelsea fans and I remember a bang as a firework was let off. A cracking day out
@@snotwurfit I was on the north bank and during half time i remember 2-3 rockets being fired from the west stand upper into the Chelsea supporters on the south bank. Happy days.

You do need some analysis.

I was at this game in the North Bank.
Celebrated the Hammers' fifth goal dancing in a circle with my mates.
Was at this game....great atmosphere

Lively afternoon
2nd penalty was harsh ... ball had already been played.
Never a pen bang on mt. Top match tho.
Cottee in his heyday 🔥🔥
Real London Team 5 - Scarf Boys of the Home Counties 3!
Not many Dick Van Dykes in the team these days.
Essex country side pikeys
I was there Brilliant day although not as good as the 4-0 away game the year before
Similar game to Chelsea's 5-3 win at Fulham in 1983.
Bloody Kerry Dixon
I was on north bank
on the chicken run that day 3-2 down with 10 mins to go great game
Without doubt the worst refereeing performance ever in the football league.
