I think you guys might really enjoy seeing the great 2010 anniversary retrospective documentary 'Small, Far Away - The World of Father Ted' with the writers, cast, music and locations.
I love this episode, it follows all the sit-com tropes, but you also get the glorious cathartic release of Ted actually kicking Bishop Brennan up the arse. We've all got someone in our lives we'd absolutely love to kick up the arse.
This is my favourite Fr Ted episode. Bitter sweet now as I remember Jim Norton’s, (Bishops Brennan), emotional interview shortly after Dermot Morgan’s death. Recalled the laughs they had working together. Jim Norton also appeared as Mr Mason in Harry Potter - the Chamber of Secrets.
Glad you enjoyed this one lads. It's so satisfying to know that, having seen Jim Norton who played Bishop Brennan talk about it later, he was educated in an Irish Catholic context (like myself though much earlier than I was, when the system was incredibly abusive and deviant unfortunately), and he deliberately portrayed the corrupt, hypocritical and despicable Bishop Brennan as a middle finger to those people. It really adds another level to the comedy. Similarly "Father Jack", as hilarious and enjoyable a character as he is, was intended to represent the abusive and openly pervy priests that legit dominated the education system here until recent decades in living memory. We find it hilarious & quietly relatable in Ireland on a different level than they do in England, as Graham Norton has pointed out.
Maybe the best episode, Bishop Brennan is gloriously hilarious. The actor, Jim Norton, said he had never watch this episode because it would be too painful for him as they had such a blast while filming it, they laughed A LOT with Dermot Morgan (Father Ted).
Absolutely spot on about retail managers... The look of utter disbelief on their faces when you just go off like a bomb in front of them is priceless. Then the satisfaction of walking out and never going back. 🤣
The Irish Pos-Office released a book of Father Ted Stamps in 2020. Unfortunately that photo isn't on the stamps! They said they don't put fictional characters on stamps. The stamps they released are just quotes. A pity.
I love your reactions guys. First time i watched Fr Ted I was 13 here in Ireland. I still watch it randomly every once in a while!! So good. Daniel, you fully get it- your reactions are brilliant. Sometimes I feel Spence has a bit of a Jimmy Fallon /James Corden overreaction or forced laugh when watching stuff.
You are a lovely people in Ireland. I even laughed, although it is forbidden, unfair, impossible and so on to have something like humor as a German. One of the best episodes and thumbs up for 'Embrace the suck'.
@@alibennett78 Grant, you're not insult me at the slighest, cause i'm too old for feeling insulted by anything here and there ;) but i mean it, irish people are some of the nicest, people i've met. Wonderful countryside, nice, good willing people, with one of my most beloved songs as their heritage, like 'The wild rover' , 'Dirty old Town' or 'The Fields of Athenry' ;) just to name a few.
@@stephanthomas4410 well I'm glad you felt that .I'm sure German people are very nice too yes those are great songs Spencer does a good job at singing them have u checked them out on his music channell
@Embrace. Graham Linehan the writer took part in a stand up in Scotland the other day for his 5th time in his life. He has been behind the scenes for 30 years or so and written legendary comedy like IT Crowd and Black Books. Don't know what he looks like and will try to find this stand up. IT Crowd next.😊
I really wouldn't bother with that recent Edinburgh thing, the whole fiasco was frankly embarrassing. Not going into it here but best leave your love for his work back in the day when Graham was still sane.
@@locusmortis No, because of his obsessive, horrendous behaviour in dealing with anyone who disagrees with him. He has his opinions, he is entitled to that, but there are much better ways to debate about such things than constantly being on Twitter/X for most of the day browbeating people over it. It has taken over his whole life for no other reason than he's not capable of backing down and meeting people half way to have a sensible discussion. If you disagree with him, he will call you a peado. Do you think that's rational? Like I said, this isn't the place for this, so let's just leave it there
If you like comedy and Rob Brydon try Gavin and Stacy when Nessa and Bryn sing Islands in the stream. In fact, for British humour you should watch the entire series, you’ll see James Cordon in there too 😁
No he isnt. He had his entire life, career and reputation destroyed for being vocal about womens rights and safe spaces, and for standing up for JK Rowling. But thats not a hill to die on, because it cost him everything, thanks to a society that refuses to allow people to speak their minds.

Fun fact. Bishop Brennan and Ted both auditioned for the opposite parts.
Apparently, Jim Norton (Bishop Brennan) hasn't been able to watch this since Dermot died.

He played a judge in _Babylon 5._ He did it well, but I found it hard to take him seriously.
The shaky cam intro taking the piss out of all those programmes where it was all the rage back then (NYPD Blue etc.) is a classic.
So many highlights. The 'now, that's sarcasm' line always cracks me up.
The bit where Dougal reads the article about Clint Eastwood always had my late best friend in hysterics!! 😂😂

A glorious episode for sure. The next one also a surreal classic. Then, sadly, the last one. Going to miss these
Father Ted was brilliant in its time & it's still brilliant now! Was this ever shown on US TV? The god-squad would be horrorfied! 😂😂😂
I wouldn't throw down with Bishop Brennan, we did see him break through two doors!
I like that you guys are so committed. Keep it up
Now I want to find that picture and make it my new wallpaper.

I follow quite a few reaction channels, but for me you two are the best. Keep rockin you dudes. God bless ya.
Yesss!! I look forward to your videos everyday!!!
My favourite Father Ted episode ever 😂
Mrs Doyle doesn't get sarcasm....She must have U.S. ancestry. 🙂😉🤣
Where did you get the idea that Americans don't get sarcasm? Clearly you haven't met the right Americans!
I have heard a lot of people on youtube, say the same thing, us brits thrive on it.@@marywood8794
Much like the IT Crowd, because this show is so rewatchable, it compensates for there being only 3 series 👍
I wouldn't mess with an angry Bishop Len Brennan
guys you have to get over to Ireland and visit the house
And go to TedFest!!!!
I need that poster, 10×10
23:24Its just that I can see another vision of you your grace the bits of fluff seem to be arranging themselves into some sort of bishop formation
I hadnt head of that Dropkick Murphys song, its great!
My favorite ever episode!!
Cheers chaps, best father ted of all time imho
This was a classic brilliant episode

Bishop Brennan was absolutely terrifying 😂😂
Mud angels. That should be a thing.
Ha, brilliant 👏
Oh lads nevermind about the Clint Eastwood ref... I'm probably 15 years older than both of you Spencer and Daniel and it went over my head too
Think you should take a trip to Tedfest on Inis Mòr next March.
It's mostly on Inis Mór but it has metastasized to Clare, Galway, and even New South Wales.
Guys you have to look at Garth Marenghi's darkplace. It's a classic.

sarcasm at its finest if an irish person says "I will yeah " means i will not listen for the tone

Just like all of Ireland's best national traits, quintessentially British
7:08 I forgot how funny this episode is 😂
Mrs Doyle was the first American
Did you see Bishop Brennon in an episode of Frasier?
Shame the writer Graham Linehan as now been cancelled due his non compliant trans views.
He hasn't been cancelled exactly, but he's definitely living out the experience of Father Ted The Racist, dodging the occasional egg.
Most people have had that bishop Lennon moment, once or twice,
@@user-qn3cn3wc3k aye sure there, now That’s yir man Bishop Brennan,
Still a crowd pleaser

They watched the entire series in full kiddo

Not really! Just a man with an opinion. Nothing wrong with that is there?
I didn't know I needed this video! But I did!
