    I wish I could've enjoyed the GT movie as much as Chris did, I usually share a lot of similar tastes in film, but maybe its living in the GT sphere which has jaded me, I found it incredibly overdramatic, to a soap opera level in many cases (especially Orlando Bloom) and although most audiences won't notice or care, any fan of the game series who've been playing from the old days will find more than a few moments and technical specifics to be hilariously opposite to what the game actually offers.
    The entire ''Brake fade'' fiasco being a prime example in the movie. Spoiler - there has never even been brake fade simulated in Gran Turismo. The idea of GT ever being as realistic of a ''sim'' as the movie presents it as, is pretty hilarious. *cough* 330 mph Alfa Romeo's in GT6, 600 mph wheelie tunes in GT3 etc etc. Even now in the latest of GT games you can still wallride at 450 mph with little more than sparks around the streets of Tokyo, but in the movie it presents Jann as being some technical prodigy who knows better than a chief engineer of 15 years (as the movie makes a point of highlighting) exclusively because of his time in GT.
    I am glad to see more people than I'd expect enjoying the movie, its just a shame that the most avid of followers of the series which share its namesake are more often than not the least satisfied with the result.

    • @NrettG
      @NrettG Рік тому

      I don't mind them doing the whole advertisement for GT but I wish they stayed with the PS3 and not going "Look at how advanced GT7 is, it's incredible!". I mean you get my benefit of the doubt with GT5 because hey it was a really good sim of the time but not fully there yet. Now with GT7 it's not even the most advanced as iRacing is the most commonly preferred sim racing program. Even F1 drivers don't really use their licensed games most of the time, opting for iRacing instead.

He passed away last year, and was the sole reason I got into acting. On MsMojo there was a video about the best voice acting in animate d movies and I think he should've been included for his role in Batman the Mask of Phantasm (the scene at the cementary). I have a VA background and there are some preconceived notions that it's not as demanding as regular acting; but the vocal training itself and perfecting the craft may take more time than any acting school. l feel like he's very underrated as Batman (ditto Mark Hamill as Joker) and even non existent in the conversation. Djimon Hounsou is CRIMINALLY under rated, he is one of the best aspects of every movie he is in... papa midnight in constantine, I remember that character even from childhood, i thought he was cool af, and he had like 2 minutes in that movie lol. Hell even in that shit fighting movie Never Back Down... he literally acts circles around every other person in that movie. Gladiator, Djimon has always been a side character and yet his side characters are almost always memorable.

    The only thing that ruined the Le Mans segment of the movie for a racing fan like me having followed Le Mans every year since 1997, was seeing how many track shots were very obviously not from the 24 hour segment of the track, but rather different sections of the permanent Bugatti circuit not raced at during Le Mans...

    " I didn't support you properly." STILL brings me to tears from just remembering the scene. The tone of his voice just communicates that he regrets how little he bonded with his " gamer" son while spending all his time supporting his brother. Although I do love how he says..." Obviously the racing is being over dramatised like in every movie ever about racing. Also allot of filming was done at Hungaroring (they drove reverse to kinda hide that i guess) and bits and pieces of that were edited in the parts of silverstone and le mans. As someone who has loved racing all his life and has a sim rig of his own and was easily top 1% in Gran Turismo these things are easily noticed. But tbh it didnt bother me to much. The film was still done very good despite these things. Enjoyed it allot actually.

    It is a brilliant movie , it released in india today and I went to see the matinee show . I too had least expectation from the movie but it deserves a lot of credit . Back in my teens I was more involved with fighting games like TMNT or Mortal Kobat or Tekken . These games have no reality connect.can't expect tu turn into a turtle like donatello or freeze opponent like subzero does.

    Just watched the movie and thought it was great. I'm also a huge Gran Turismo fan for mamy years now so it was up my alley.
    The obe thing though, Gran Turismo isn't a proper Sim Racer as it tries to make you believe. It's a so-called SimCade Racer. (A hybrid between simulation and arcade).
    The difference is that it tries to be realistic as possible yet easy enough to puck up and play even with a cotnroller. So the cars don't really behave like real cars, the driving physics aren't geared to be hyper realistic. Forzs Motorsport would also fall under the SimCade genre.
    But we got a lot of great SimRacers thst are even more realistic than GT the mast few years.
    Games like Assetto Corsa Competizione, rFactor 2, AutoMobilista 2 and iRacing but these are mainly PC Games.

    I couldnt believe the Nissan GTR flying actually really happened to Jann. I thought there is no way that could happen other than a mercedes at le mans. Also the LMP2 car looked wicked(ligier nissan dpi).
    It was kind of boring to watch halfway in the movie, the romance felt unneeded and didnt really affect the later parts of the movie.

  • @grievousXWX
    @grievousXWX Рік тому +1

    I really didn't like this movie at all, honestly. Usually when adapting a true story, you tend to romance it, but the story besides the races felt like the most generic "young underdog trained by a grumpy veteran that had an accident" sport story ever. Most characters have absolutely nothing to tell

  • @voongnz

    The problem with this movie is that the actuall racing details are way off. In the Le mans race he says that the racing line is off so he seems to take a wider(and longer) line in every corner which just doesnt make any sense

  • @blessethishe
    @blessethishe Рік тому +2

    This movie was really well done. Maybe its when the cars racing on the track that give me the same feels of a horror movie. Best character was the Mechanic. He was the honest guy, who puts doing the right thing over something shady which was his whole character because he seem to be surrounded by a bunch of shady people which made him brutally honest when he spoke. But we did see his character develop, the guy was key to the film. Especially when picking who won, that really showed how things be in the real world with hiring. The main character fits the story vision. But i kind of wasn't feeling the family and the relationship. Both felt a bit off. *B-* movie. Not bad.
