John Williams didn't compose it. When this tango was composed by Gardel, Williams was 3 years old. He only arranged it for the film but this has nothing to do with the film and should have been posted as Una Cabeza by Gardel
Although he didn't compose the original, by filling it out with his orchestral arrangement, he not only put his stamp on it, he improved it. Think turning a Hyundai Elantra into a Ferrari. Sure, it's beautiful, of course, it's FAST, after all, it's Italian! But don't complain about the size figure price tag. Just like Mr. Williams, it WILL get noticed. Also, 20 years from now, people will still line up to buy it. 'nuf said.
Much as I love John Williams, I did see the movie, several times, in fact, but while the version with a full orchestra is fine, this is NOT the same as the movie, played by a small combo, primarily violin solos, and THAT was magnificent. Evan though Mr. Williams wrote it, the movie version, in my opinion, was far superior. Throw in Al Pacino and Ms. Gabrielle Anwar, and it becomes downright delicious! aka DRBHAPPY
Williams arranged this AFTER the film in collaboration with Itzhak Perlman for their album “Cinema Serenade,” an album of arrangements of popular film music for violin and orchestra.

Williams did not arrange anything for the film “Scent of a Woman.”
This is Williams arrangement so it has alot to do with this.
