    honestly i think the laguna seca 4 is objectively a better suit they should have just gave the 4 a nice grip pad on the knees and make the shoulder a little more comfortable and give the proshape armour on the pelvic area and they would have sold by the truck load.

    Great review with good insights. I generally swap out armour anyway. There are lots of choices in slimmer level 2 pads. I favour Forcefield Isolator 2 because it’s just 12mm thick (1/2”). There slimmer ones but they sacrifice impact performance to just squeeze under the requirements of 20kN. Forcefield would be about 9kN.

    So baffling that after making a winner for the hot American climate in the Seca 4 they’ve gotten rid of so much of the venting.

      This was my first thought as well. Guess I'm buying a closeout 4 instead of the new 5 after upgrading every cycle since the original. Major fail Dainese, you can always wear a warm undersuit under fully a perf'd suit. Can't cool off in a minimally perf'd suit like the 5

      @@mca8690 and the suit is less protective which is like wtf i mean the laguna seca 5 should have just make it abit more comfortable and vent better and called it a day and they would have hit of the park.

      Until either of you actually wear the suit on the track you really can't claim the new design is that much worse than the 4.

    Where can I find the elbow slider replacements? I just ordered the dainese pista elbow sliders but they do not have the rubber around them like the stock ones do on my laguna seca 5 suit. These pista sliders do not fit the same way on this suit.

      Most racers will go with something like the Dainese Pro 2.0 Back Armor, as well as the Dainese Pro-Armor One-Piece.

    Tried this on and looked through a variety of different sizes at the D-Store.
    1. The sizing is inconsistent with other brands and also others in their line. Fits like a Laguna Seca 4, though. Not for athletic or skinny (I.e. pro rider body type). More for chunky, short and fat people. The crotch is way dropped, too.
    2. The arms are too long for most people.
    3. The cuff at the arms is too wide for most people. If you don’t use an in-glove, your cuff and glove will bunch up and it’s very uncomfortable. If you use an in-glove then you have nomex material showing on the outside of the suit which will 100% tear in a crash.

    • @erictrzaska5771
      @erictrzaska5771 7 місяців тому

      I'm 5'9. 200lbs. Muscle not fat and a size 52 fit me like extra skin. The arms are a TINY bit longer than needed for me but the bro at Dainese told me I can have his tailor shorten it for me, I also have Alpinestar gauntlet gloves that fit perfectly over the cuffs. I don't think I'll even need to tailor it.

    • @Ac22768

      The video is correct, that's why we do our research. Dainese original teased this suit w/ CE 2 armor but ended up with CE 1 for production. We are updating the information from Dainese on our site now.

      @@patthonsirilim5739 I agree, but I don't design gear so all I can do is provide critiques in these videos and hope Dainese listens. FWIW though, better armor/protection doesn't = better. Thats why some SX racers run knee guards and not knee braces, and why some MotoGP riders didn't want airbags to be mandatory. Better armor doesn't mean better suit, some are after better performance and are willing to sacrifice protection for speed. Not me personally, but some.
