Recently I have been sent this BMW scanner to check out and I've found that it is far more capable that I was even expecting. Not only can you scan BMW specific codes, you can scan the individual modules on any BMW, MINI or even Rolls-Royce cars. Some of those modules include the Engine, ABS, Transmission, SAS, SRS, TPMS etc), test your old and EVEN register your new battery, reset adaptation, perform special DME engine functions such as injector compensation coding, reset your fuel pump and much much more. If you work on your own car as much as I do, this is a great tool to have in your toolbox!

On the battery management, does it allow to code as well as register a new battery, where the battery amperage has been upgraded (e.g. 70Ah to 80Ah) from previous? Thanks.

Is there a scanner which can check the function of the Central Locking System?
Does it only just read & delete the fault codes or it can also help programme the functions of interior exterior lights, windows, central locking system AC and the whole nine yards?

Good video and scanner review it was very informative. I wish I would have bought your scanner, I bought a Creatdor C310+, a few years ago and it does not have a battery reset feature and some of the other functions that yours has, although my 2001 BMW 530i does not require it.
Can you reset the egs with this? I just swapped my valve body in transmission

I like them both, but if I had to have just one for a BMW, it would be the Ancel. It does everything the MaxiAP does, but way faster.

2000 BMW X5 E53 M62 -
Did not work at all, very little functions and did not even support battery reg. Which is why i bought in the first place. Can you recommend any other Scanner that does work for my specific needs?
This is a total winner, for the price also. Great for weekend warriors like me just want to know what's going on, but will have their mechanic do any of the more serious work...
That's what I was thinking when I got it. Sure, I have others that will do more.. but they also cost 5 times more. This will do pretty much everything you need it to do for a good price.
Just received my BM700 scanner for my 2009 e89 and decided to give it a try.
I know your demo was on your 5 series and the ecu is a little more sophisticated than my e89 but have you tried the I/M function on your e89?
The one thing I couldn't bring up is the I/M readiness menu. It's not shown on the screen like in your demo (3 ecu choices) and it doesn't show up on the display by simply pressing the I/M function button, Am I missing something? or are the I/M readiness faults (if any) stored in just the one ecu menu?
In your battery registration BM700 video (while scanning your e89) I noticed at the 3:24 mark there is an option to clear all fault codes would that be a viable option? or should the faults be cleared one at a time?
Make sure your car is in accessory mode when checking I/M, other than that it should work. As far as clearing codes, I normally clear all codes when I start working on a car or project, then go on a test drive and see what comes back. Then I take it one at a time and erase one module at a time as I fix the issues.

Quickly pressing the start / stop button 3 times in succession will get me to the accessory / diagnostic mode.
Question? What is the process used to get out of the accessory / diagnostic mode? Push the start / stop button twice?
Accessory mode should just be one press on the start button if you have comfort access and putting the key in and pressing the button (dont press the brake). Then you can just press it again to exit or start car normally.

I'm watching this in 2022. Went on line to look at the manual and couldn't find info on the "transport mode reset" Can this perform that duty? I have a 2007 Z4, 39,800 miles. The battery keeps going dead over the winter, so loose my A/C operation and some fan speeds. Will this tool reset that function? Thanks for your video on this tool. I'm miles away from a BMW service or independent service locations, so this could be helpful to me. Also, the battery will not hold a charge, so may be time for a new battery. Thanks for your response. =D=

Hello, have the bm700. While your scanner is on do you ever hear a tic from scanner..Very cold up here. Installed an abs module. Trying to clear warning lights.
Hello. Yes, I do hear a relay click inside; especially, when it’s connecting.
Its a very good scanner the scanner do the job well can also register the BMW battery,ABS,check,delete codes with no problem for sure too say it easy thnxs a lot;) but of course the video speak for this 100 say it that way.

Not as far as I know. To put it more correctly, it registers a new battery, but does not code in new values necessarily.

Hi, thanks for the video, I'm new to looking at these scanners & really want an affordable one for my BMW, but my wife also has an Audi. Do I need two scanners for both cars? I really like the new battery register function, would this work on the Audi as well or not?
Hi Steve!
This is a BMW specific scanner. It is a bi-directional scanner (meaning it can write to modules, like registering a battery, programming injectors etc.). These functions will only be available for BMW (Mini and RR) cars. The regular OBD2 scanning will work on any car, including the Audi, but you will not see internal codes or be able to do any of the bi-directional functions. It will act as a standard OBD2 scanner (that can be found for $20) on all cars that aren't BMWs.
So, your options are to get this one for BMWs and find an equivalent for the Audi OR get a multi car scanner that can do both (and many others), but those start at around $400. I'm in the process of reviewing one of these and will have a video out in a week or so: amzn.to/2VYJrI9

look at buying a autel scanner you can by each cars software on the machine for £16 each that way all your cars are stored in on machine

Excellent tutorial.i have purchased this one for my 2013 x5 35i and it takes awhile to figure it out,but otherwise it a great tool!!Just 3 questions>>>> i replaced my both fog light bulbs with LED,since then it continues to pop up in my idrive screen that "My left FOGLIGHT BULB IS MALFUNCTION",what i need to know is, can I use this tool to go into my vehicle computer settings and "turn off" the fog light bulbs "selfcheck" ??? ( 2 ) also can i turn up the brightness in my instrument dash panel? they are turned up full amount on the rehostat located on the left in my dash panel. Also can these "angel eyes" headlight be turn up a little brighter on those bmw/s with this tool ty 100-100

You can use this to put in new injectors? Instead of using ista . I’m about to swap to out and was going g to buy a laptop
Yes, you can. You can adjust the compensation for the new injectors!

I already bought and used it, my opinion: It is very complete and works perfectly.
The only problem I found is that if you press the initial item OBDII - it cannot establish a connection - which forces me to enter the item "for bmw". I wonder why???
But good news, no errors in my z4 e89 2010 model 23i with 54000km is immaculate , the battery is still original,is not very good...
I can add that it also works on my other mini r56 cooper s 184hp car

@@jfjajfja8676 That is very strange that it would no establish connection for OBD2. I haven't had that issue on Mini R56, E89 Z4 or F10 550i. I'm glad the rest works and thanks for watching!
I will be replacing transmission fluid on my BMW 328i 2013 and my question is does this device can read the temperature of transmission oil? I do need know when it get 40C degree.

Yes, it can. You can see live data on the transmission module. I won’t be changing transmission oil any time soon, so no video. Sorry! To see the temp, just go to the transmission module and select live data.
Nice video; thank you! However, when you introduced AUTEL AP200, I ordered one! I haven't had to use it much so far (thank God for that!) As far as I gather though, AP200 offers all the things that this Ancel one does; isn't that correct?
You’re correct, Autel AP200 can do most everything this one can do, but it is much slower to connect (fine if you need it once in a while, annoying if you use it daily). Both are great, slightly different uses. Thanks for watching!

No, this is a bmw specific scanner. You can use it as a regular OBD2 scanner on other cars, but that’s not why you’d buy it.

I have a cheap generic OBD reader that has highlighted a few faults but usually when the engine management light comes on it comes back , no fault found. I was hoping using one of these BMW readers it would be more precise and also show up any faults the other reader can't find. Also, I did some work on my brakes and the traction control light and ABS light are now on and would like to know if either of these units would reset them? Brakes seem fine!
I am thinking now, is it worth spending a little more for the BM700, if I ever needed it's more advanced features it would be cheaper than a visit to BMW.
@@andyb4417 I would go with the BM700. The difference is that BM700 can actually do bi-directional communication on many items. Anything from injector coding to throttle adaption etc. However, if you are just looking to check the module and see what the actual codes are and reset those, both will work just fine.

Hello great video! Can you register a non BMW battery? I bought a battery from Costco for my 2015 BMW 435i
Yes, you can. I have upgraded my battery on my 335i from 80 to 90 Ah and was able to program and register it. If you are going from same capacity to the same capacity, you only need to register it (brand does not matter, you are programming the battery module and not the actual battery).
Do you think this scanner would be able to make the seat calibration message go away? 2011 535i
It can definitely clear the code that will make the message go away, but if there is an issue with the module or sensor etc. it will come back

It can do the basic OBD2 functions, but it can only do all the cool stuff (like reading individual modules) on BMWs only.

Yes, it can reset the module, but it cannot program it etc.

It can reset the code, but it will not remove it if your bulb is out or not compatible. This does not ‘code’ things out.

You will get BMW specific codes. Not only that, you can scan the individual module and get codes from it and live data on that specific module. Does that mean you’ll know what the problem is 100%? No, but there isn’t a scanner that will do that.

I believe that has to do with the adjustable suspension, but other than that it would be very difficult to tell without a specific code.
Quick question does this scanner read codes regarding timing chain failure
There aren't any codes that will tell you exactly that timing chain has failed, but yes, it will show you codes for all modules including engine ones reporting timing information.
Nice video! Is this the best in the market right now? For bmw? I have intermittent alerts on my f30 320D (abs and flat tyre monitor). I recently changed the sensors and rear shock absorber. My mechanic told me I need a bmw code scanner so I am looking for one that is not picky on scanning faults. I hope this can help me figure out what is wrong with my car.
This is a great BMW scanner for the price. You can get better, but you’ll have to spend 4 times as much. It should work for what you need and I still use it all the time.

Yes, it does everything my Autel AP200, creator c501 did, but much much faster.
Why should I get this scanner instead of a BT OBD scanner and use a phone app? Does this has advantages?
I like these types of scanners because they just work. With the phone one, it may or may not work if you have bad internet connection, sometimes it doesn't connect to bluetooth well etc etc. This just works and even if the company goes out of business, it will still work.

Yes, this scanner can scan the central locking system module and every other module on a BMW. It only functions as a regular OBD2 scanner for other cars and cannot scan individual modules like it can on a BMW.

hi mate, will this tool scan a 2001 bmw e39 touring 525d?. i have a problem with my rear air suspension, i have a dash warning light on for the self levelling rear suspension, i changed both rear air bags as they were old anyway, i then changed the suspensions compressor valve block as when i put it under water it had a tiny air leak, i also changed 1 rear level sensor as the arm was broken- but after all that i still have the suspension self levelling warning light on the dash!!!....do you know, will this scanner scan rear air suspension on a 2001 e39 touring 525d ?. do u know if it will turn off the dash warning light??. will the scan tool re calibrate the rear air suspension or read only, any help/advise apppreciated-many thx dave in cold uk....
Got the comment on both videos, I'll just answer here. The scanner will work on your 2001 e39 and will be able to scan and clear the codes on the suspension module. I do not believe it will be able to calibrate it, but I haven't worked on an air suspension before, so I can't say for sure.
