I had the honor of playing with Ben Tucker who wrote this tune. In fact he showed me on his upright how he wrote this tune. It's been recorded a million ways but he showed me how he wrote it. He even had the original chart. Ben Tucker was a larger than life gentleman. Thanks Dave for cutting this great tune!

I got his David Sanborn album in 1976 and I loved it.
I have finally learned who wrote this song! My late brother, Stan, came home from Vietnam in 1967 and taught it to my late brother, Frank, who did a phenomenal job playing it on his Fender Telecaster. Thank you, Andy Okus. And it also has lyrics! We played Frank's version at his funeral. Very moving. One of our very favorite songs! It makes me thinks of empty airports.
I met David on a Singapore Airlines flight to Jakarta when he was en route to the 2012 Java Jazz festival, I had the honour of assisting him to clear immigration, David graciously agreed to a foto of us together which was taken by his travelling companion whose E-mail address I think was called something like “ big whisky”.

My good friend Ben Tucker wrote this tune. In fact I was in his house and he showed me how he wrote it. Of all the many of hundreds of artists who have recorded this I feel David's is the hippest no doubt!

The keyboard solo is so nice here. It is "crashed" after those searing hot sax notes. Would have been nice to hear a bass and guitar solo.
Great sounding group. A B-3 Hammond organ would have been nice to throw in the mix. Thanks for posting.

Its Nick Moroch. He's been Sanborns guitarist at least 7 years
David and I have been friends for 37 years and he's had multiple guitarists over the years, after Hiram Bullock left, then OD'ed. Dean Brown was one but I am going to go with BPCA's idea. ;-)
