The way you make those seams, is just amazing, and how they just disappear into the body as though they were one piece. It has made me want to try myself, at making one.
Outstanding work sir. I have been trying to convince a man that I know to try his hand at this. He’s looking for a new way to express his creativity and I constantly remind him that skills such as these will always be useful, both for himself and his family.
If he has the money to invest in the tools and furnaces, torches, hammers, anvils, grinders, benches; a teacher to teach him would be necessary, as well. It is one of the more expensive arts to get in to. But I highly recommend it. The other thing to consider is the learning curve, and not least is the cost of the materials. Copper is not too bad, but the silver and gold...
@LaoZi2023 his son is an excalent artist in tool making. Yes, silver and gold are much more better. Thank youuuu so much for your beautiful feedback 🙏🙏🙏
@ , that’s good to know. There is talent in the family that can help. I’m in Japan, learning from a master here. I have college experience in netalsmithing from years ago. And I still feel the pressure of the learning curve. It takes an unwavering desire to make things with precision, crippled with a sense of artistry. Well worth it, if one has the gumption.
So inspiring. I am making a list of the tools that I will need. I already have most of them. I like the tools that you have made by yourself. When you were tinning the piece, why did you tin both the inside and outside; then, remove the tinning; and then, re-tin the inside? Tia.
It's very exciting. I want to try to do something too. My question is, what kind of solder is used? I've filled the copper pipes with copper-phosphorous solder, but I'm afraid it won't stand up to further processing. Or am I wrong?
