This will be the most beautiful boat build inside and out I’ve seen to date! I intend it to be my last (other than Sarinda’s restoration). I patiently wait till your splash date as you shout, “Tally Ho” and are off to grand adventures.
Lovely job on the joinery,it looks lovely.Doesn’t it just come to life with the oil rubbed in.I like the description of having to imagine how much material to remove to fit the sole around the frame or stringer, that’s sort of how my brain works too.Best wishes 🙂
Apart from your outstanding boat building skills, you two are great storytellers of your amazing journey. You draw us into both the process and the joy. I so look forward to every episode. Thanks as ever for sharing.
I wonder how much hard work and searching goes to find such beautiful wood?......or is Tassie just heaven on earth for the timber boat builder? Such a beautiful build❤
Thank you for the compliments! Tassie has some amazing timbers. Such special wood and really good for boatbuilding. It is not easy to find, especially because we only want to buy these kinds of boards from backyards as to not contribute to the modern day harvesting of slow growing species. This Myrtle had been stored in someone's shed for many years, waiting for a purpose. We're very excited with the purpose it's found :)
Oh my. Make it any more beautiful and more angels will show up! And what a talent for recognizing beauty mighty Obie has. Thankful here for your channel.
Hi,your table is going to look beautiful and that draw is the longest I have ever seen, you could keep you boarding cutlasses in it 😀.I love the way the work is going she looks a treat👏👏.cheers,Roly 🇬🇧.
Truly my favourite channel on UA-cam. As the Season Affective Disorder begins to kick in here in Old Blighty, you guys really do brighten my day, thank you so much. "Zen and the art of Wooden Boat Building". oh, and calling that chicken a weirdo, i agree 100%.
Did I mention this before? Your boat is actually pretty darn beautiful. Those sweeping lines! Prachtige lijnen, en die geveegde kont! Keep it up guys! And take your time. Ok ok, the floor and the table are gorgeous too!
What a beautiful table - Tasmanian Myrtle certainly has stunning grain! Cabinet-making can be very time-consuming, but the results are extremely worthwhile - as you've shown here! Well done!
Wow, how Beautiful that wood comes to Life after feelings It Some oil Great work you to ! I love the channel, and have been following you for years. I almost get a bit afraid, not you are nearing Some soort of completion and have to miss your beautiful building video’s ( although that may still be many moois from now… ) You are in my top three UA-cam channels. - Leo ( Tally Ho ) but she splashed recently - RAN sailing - You Guys 😊 ( not in that specific order 😉) Steve from “Acorn to Arabella” , but she is has splashed for about a year or so, Thank you for the many hours that I have watched your video’s. Bedankt from the Netherlands ❤
The table top kind of looks like ripples in the water, what a beautiful piece of wood. Matt has to out-do himself with his little bit of talent and make that drawer, incredible. What a fantastic hiding space, nobody in their right mind would think of a drawer that long, I was stunned when it just kept pulling out, yup, plenty of room in there, awesome, so pretty!
I cannot think of a better life than doing beautiful work that you passionately share as a team. No doubt some rough patches occasionally but it looks as if the journey is well worth it.
Building a boat of this size and quality is amazing! The two of you have been giving a Blessing from God to do this kind of work and see it through, many people build boats with teams of people 10- 30 at a time . But to do such a task with just the two of you at the level you work is a true blessing, the videos are great , funny at times and show your passion for each other and the build , God bless you both ! For the day the boat hits the water will be the beginning of your journey!
That Myrtle wood is beautiful! Great job on your saloon table and soles. Keep up the good work! I just recently removed my old mahogany saloon table. Its dinged and dented but probably the least rotten thing I've pulled out of the boat so far. Im thinking I'll reuse the lumber but build it into a unit that folds up against the bulkhead it was mounted to so i can get it out of the way while sailing.
great job guys on the table and soul boards, that Myrtle is very similar as i remember from Sapele wood i used to make a table when i was a kid with its tiger striping - that brings back some memories love the final shot of you at the table Matt, you look so happy
What you guys are accomplishing here will bound you together for life, Tarkine is a beauty being built with great love and top level craftsmanship or should I say craftswomanship, Lefke is a boss😎
Another great piece of progress. May I make a suggesting concerning the table draw. If you are only using it for table cloths or serviettes and other like soft materials , the unobstructed length should be OK. However, if cutlery or other utensils, may I suggest that you insert cross p pieces to stop the contents hurtling fore and aft in a swell. Just a thought
@@Building_a_Boat_by_the_River Yes. the catch is a good idea. I had not thought of that. However, given the length of the inside my suggestion was to fit dividers so that any items would be able to be stored safely and not slide about within that space, maybe similar to a cutlery draw. Just another thought. Best.
Amazing craftsmanship, although Kobi didn’t look too impressed, obviously takes more than a double planked boat and bespoke table to get him interested, as with the rest of the build excellent standard of work, good luck from the UL and thank you for the time and effort to present such a professional update!
Beautiful work. Now you two have made me curious about wax. What are all these traditional finishes? Any tips on characteristics and uses and do=nots and why you have chosen what you have used? That would be a neat episode.
You might consider cutting that ladder and putting a hinge, preferably one you can slip apart, in it. I had a tall ladder with the engine behind it and it was always a problem till I did that. Similar to the old swim ladders.
I love it when timber has almost a hollographic affect and looks ripply. I do have concerns of the floor boards potatoe chipping once your in the water and extra humidity. I wonder if both sides should be sealled with epoxy.
"You only have a tiny little bit of talent" I loved Iefke's comment to Matt as she first saw the assembled table. Its so true😂. Brilliant as always.
Hahah yes Tim, glad you picked that up! Thanks again
😀💪💪
Real tears..as lefki smoothed her hand across the wind blown wave table..saying- I don't know what to say..❤
Good work BBTR team!
And WOW, that saloon table top once clear coated actually looked like a skinned Tiger! 😲 Beautiful!
Ah thanks! Yeah super happy! Looks like you’re living the dream with your boat in the water now! Very nice
@@Building_a_Boat_by_the_River Thanks and yes, it is very nice having Mistress in the water, but there is still heaps to do hey!

Aw thanks! How kind of you to say! Cheers
Always a highlight to see beautiful wood finished after all the work it takes to get there. That table top is something special! 🙂
Yeah it was a nice reward for a bit of hard work! Cheers

love that table, good job. 😎💚💙👍👍🍺🍺🍻

Yeah exactly! Thanks!
Looking fantastic! As we are preparing for Winter it's nice seeing you both in short sleeves. Beautiful table, Matt.

Thanks, that's a real compliment, we appreciate it!
That table is Fiddleback myrtle, tiger myrtle has dark stripes and spots. Can look like salmon skin. I've been cutting it all week! Nice job.
Hmmm interesting, the Tiger Myrtle name we just made up and didn’t realise there was a difference or it was even called that!
Beautiful
Thank you! Cheers!
I thought I was the only one who ever stood on top of the bench to do so work!
Hahaha no only the best do it!
WOW that table is exquisite.

A fork yeah!
Just lovely well done.

Your L shape dinette with an opposing starboard bunk is a much better design that the U shape foisted on us for almost a century by boat designers.
Yeah it’s odd how a certain design stays on boats! We are quite happy with our L shaped
The table is beautiful
Thanks!!!
bravo courage

Beautiful work. Now you two have made me curious about wax. What are all these traditional finishes? Any tips on characteristics and uses and do=nots and why you have chosen what you have used? That would be a neat episode.
