    I have just purchased the antiquing glaze to apply to a clear coat over raw unfinished wood. This was really helpful and so well explained. Thank you!

    Great tutorial! Very informative. I am new to refinishing furniture and I can't wait to try these techniques.

    This was very interesting--I have a cabinet painted Raw Silk but the top I am staining. I think the antiquing glaze is a good choice to finish it in. Thank you so much---this video is well done.

    Hi, I’m form Dothan, Al. I am very intrigued by this paint. Ive never seen it before and I’m getting ready to paint three pieces of furniture. I watched your video where you painted a coffee table with pebble, clear glaze and ash. I loved it and plan to copy that on a sofa table. Ive tried to google more info on these paints and can’t seem to find much. Lots of pictures of finished furniture and UA-cam videos on how to, but I’d like to know what the difference is in the classic line and the Penney line. So I decided to try your channel again for some answers. Does one line work better on particular substrates?

      Susan, the Fusion Mineral Paint is the exact same paint formula across all the lines. Just the colour range is featured in different "lines" eg. the Michael Penney designer range of colours, the Lisa Marie Holmes designer colours. The paint formula is consistent.

    I want to add a dark brown glaze over a cream painted table. Than I want to just highlight that with a little metallic glaze. Any suggestions? Do I dry brush the metallic?

    • @irestorestuff

      Yes you can dry brush the metallic on. Another option I mentioned on your same question on another video, is to mix the metallic into the antique glaze.

    Also, any particular top coat for protecting the furniture after you have finished painting and glazing? A fusion product or something you can buy at Lowes? A spray top coat or one you paint on? One of the pieces I’m going to paint is a small desk. I want to be sure after I’ve done all the work refinishing my desk it still looks good years later. So, a top coat necessary?

      As you'll see in most of my blog posts using Fusion on my website: www.irestorestuff.com, I rarely use a top coat because Fusion is made with a built in top coating. However, if you want to be extra cautious on hard wearing pieces or places, use Fusion's Tough Coat Wipe on Poly (matte or gloss available). You can find you local retailer at fusionmineralpaint.com

    Do you put wax over the chalk paint before using the glaze

    • @irestorestuff
      @irestorestuff  18 днів тому

      Wax is always the last layer of any paint job where you use a water based paint. So no, I don't put wax over chalk paint before using the water based Glaze. In this video example, I'm actually using Fusion Mineral Paint, which is completely different to chalk paint, and has a built in top coat, so no need to add anything before glazing. Whereas Chalk Paint is a porous finish, so it may be advisable to use a water based sealant on top of chalk paint before adding glaze, to allow the glaze to move around more easily on the surface. I have a blog post on the difference between a few different furniture paint types (eg. milk pain, chalk paint, mineral paint): irestorestuff.com/2015/02/26/milk-paint-chalk-paint-fusion-paint-whats-the-difference/
