Came here bc of now in the 90s, never heard this song before. The beginning gave me some The Last Ninja 2 vibes from the c64, you can immediately tell that this is building towards something. Really cool piece of gaming music, it definitely has that lovely genesis grit in the bass line, but I didn't know that such fragile and clear notes were possible on that chip! Amazing!
If used as a synthesizer, and the composer wasn't lazy and used GEMS, with the right driver, and patches, the YM2612 was a beast. Sadly so many western games used GEMS, and everything sounded like farts. Sure there were some exceptions, but it was pretty much the fart driver.
all of the music on gauntlent IV was so amazing, i spent years searching for THIS particular track, which i remembered from the wind tower on the game. It was my absolute favorite! thank you for posting this!
Imagine yerself drifting into the midnight air, and the rays of the dying light are spreading like fireworks until you blend with the obscurity of the night sky, rushing forward towards your goal!
Wait you mean *this* was capable on a Genesis? Why does 99% of Genesis songs sound like ass then? Geez. PS: Came from Now in the 90s, October 13th 2023 episode. Editor Dylan was definitely right, absolute banger.
Nah. That's just the most American made output, because most of them used G.E.M.S. to do the music. Japanese dev and the few western devs who knew how to actually code the soundchip made some great music.
It's the unknown!
NOOOOOOO!

Lumpy torch brought me here.

Best sound driver work on the MegaDrive. Drums that are absolutely downright filthy!
It's crazy that this was even possible on a Genesis

not that hard really, a lot of the pretty stuff is the master system chip
Oh boy, look up the plok soundtrack for the super Nintendo. Tim follin created a miracle with that soundtrack
The result of using the full capacity of the SEGA Genesis soundchip.
What a piece!!
Composed by Hitoshi Sakimoto using his Terpsichorean driver. He used it in many other games too, and even on the TG16 with Magical Chase.

Yep I know, his usage of the Terpsichorean sound driver, its delaying and clever stereo-panning effect was definitely a blessing.
My favorite track on the Sega Genesis. When people argue that the Genesis never produced good music, I direct them to this.
@@bondoshoDon't forget King Breeder for the PC-98
they did not have to flex this hard with the genesis sound chip lol but they did

I'm always up for 90's videogame music suggestions. Thanks Editor Dylan!

Holy Mother°!! 💥
make a good megaman level 3 anyone
yep
A prime example of where emulators fail.
There's a good to fair chance the recording you're currently listening was made through an emulator

Yo, this track is crunk.
