Enjoyed your “blast from the past”. I love the peacefulness of the cabin and snow. Winter is my favorite season. Seems like things slow down a little. ❤️
Never to late to start I feel the same way and will be starting 2021 to clear all debt and save for this life style Good luck I hope you find your peace
Do it!! I broke the cycle of my 9-5 work life, moved to the country and it’s been the best decision ever. Life off grid is way better than the city. Much more peaceful, you get to fully experience nature and learn survival skills, I’ve never felt more alive.
I believe that is where I first came across your videos, a few years back when you put up your first video of the off grid cabin. Great memory, could watch it over and over and over again - just a relaxing atmosphere - thanks
Yeah, that cabin video is actually what helped my channel grow. Outside Magazine posted this on their main website and my traffic really increased after that. Really thankful for the opportunity to stay at this place, it was an awesome experience for those couple of months. Thanks for still tuning in after all this time ~ Brian
Had a small cabin like that. A little wall mounted Mr. Heater could get the inside to ninety when it was thirty below out. $100 plus 20lb propane tank. Perfect.
Beautiful..I'm sat here now watching this video,,the snow falling, you cutting logs for the fire, while I'm listening to very strong winds and heavy rain here in good old Yorkshire, UK....👍👍
The tranquility of not being around people 😍, I love travel to go hiking and spend my days solo. I hear you when you say no cell phone, I don’t have any social media just me and my thoughts.
Do you all get snow at your location in N. Cal in the winter? I've done some winter camping over near Kirkwood Ski Area and we got DUMPED on. I didn't realize that area gets so much snow!
@@OffGridBackcountryAdventures I live where all the famous fires wiped out almost all of our BLM land, and most of our mendocino national forest on our side of the state.. We usually get cold, cold, rain and some snow. But by Oct. it's usually colder. I've been wearing shorts since march! I Love your channel very much.
That's what I am looking for property wise. I need about 5 acres of vacant land where I can put a cabin of 500 or 600 sq ft. I plan to be on it up to 6 months a year. Most Colorado counties require 600 sq ft for year round living. There would be a lot of time camping and fishing as well. Love the show Brian. You are a good guy. I have learned a lot over the past few years. Take care. Vaughn
Thanks LifeForce Vegan Kitchen! I've really enjoyed putting together the last two videos so I'm going to do more in the same format. Winter time is so peaceful for me and I feel the mellow music fits the scenery well. I can't wait for winter to get here, it's my favorite time of year! ~ Brian
@@OffGridBackcountryAdventures Man I really enjoy your winter camping videos! I Would love to do some of it but in a van it's not to safe , especially up in the mountains. I really enjoy watching your channel and the last 2 videos seemed like there was a whole lot of your heart put into them. I was happy to hear Sierra was going to be ok, man I could feel the pain before you knew. Take care and maybe we'll run into each other out here. I'll have to say down here in az is pretty nice right now just the right temp during the days and cool for sleeping at night. Be safe and give Sierra a big hug. 🐾✌
Hey William! Yeah, these blast from the past video clips are a walk down memory lane for me! You are right, Sierra looks so young. My little girl is growing older on us but we still have many more adventures ahead!
What a cute cozy cabin. It’s an older video but still like it. What a nice place to stay and everything you need is there. Will you be able to go back this winter? Take care ❤️ 🇨🇦
After living in the mountains 7 years I always get my firewood chopped and ready in the spring and the lastbminute so it burns hot and clean. I have storage for my firewood. Trust me , you save the environment when you dry your firewood all summer
I envy you. Would love to live out of my Truck or my Jeep (that is built for overland here in the northeast). But at last my wife wouldn’t be to happy about that. Love the videos. Stay safe out there.
Such great terrain! I love the diversity of ecosystems. Also, the mountain towns always seem to have cool coffee shops or breweries so when the weather isn't conducive for outdoor activities, you can always find a place to hang out with locals. I love it! Have a great weekend ~ Brian
Only thing about cutting channels you can bend ur bar on ur chainsaw and plus getting ur wood to length like with my big brown stove I use my bar to measure my wood length then cut but whatever works for u keep up the good vids!
Where did you get the Off-Grid cabin at, did you rent it? I love watching you when you're in your big tent. PS: What part of KS are you heading to, too do your truck build out?
Thank you for asking about both of us, I'm doing okay. I've noticed the pain from Giardia is gone but all of my other symptoms are still there. I'm headed back for another appt the first part of next week. Sierra is getting tested for Giardia on Monday, she's not showing any signs of being infected but I want to do a test just to be sure. I'd hate it if she was suffering from this so we'll know more the first part of next week.
Great cabin. If you ever find yourself near Susanville, CA let me know, my family has an off grid cabin we don't really use in the winter time. Definitely lots of snow if you looking to get socked in for a few days.
Now that's a video! Great job once again this cabin rocks! What part of Colorado? I'm looking for land out there to live off grid and travel in my converted minivan. Your channel just keeps getting better, thanks brother! Safe travels
Hi Shalise, these are some old video files I found from 2018 which I've not used yet. Since I've not been that active due to my health issues, I thought it would be neat to post some of this footage. Hope you enjoy the scenery. :)
@@OffGridBackcountryAdventures I was wondering why it looked like you removed the camper slide-out extension. It turns out, you apparently had not built it yet. Also, my father had giardia, and was told he might always have some residual effects from it, but was given some 'medication' to help with it (it was so long ago the medication was really just a poison meant to kill some of the infection in his intestine) and try to make it so he could at least function and reduce the pain it induced. Instead, one weekend he decided to try to kill it by drinking way more vodka than any individual should imbibe. It worked though, after the hangover went away, he never had any more problems with the parasite. That is not me endorsing drinking yourself into a stupor to get rid of it, as one would imagine more modern medicine would help greatly and not run the alcohol poisoning risk, but hey if it worked for him, it might be worth considering for you, if nothing else does.
No, this was actually some footage from back in 2017. I'm not really sure what my winter plans are...kinda need to get my health issues under control before determining what my next move will be. I loved spending time at this place, such a cool little cabin.

I'm curious about building codes? Was there a difficult journey of permitting to get this home built?
*Genuinely asking since I hope to do this in Colorado someday :)
Cozy little place! I've always loved the shape of those barn-type cabins.
Hi Brian & Sierra.
Did you need a building permit for the cabin? I want to start off grid living but I don’t k ow where or how to start?
Isn’t it hard to find good areas to legally live off grid in Colorado?
Random question, but what type of yakima roof rack are you using? Im trying to find the best fit for my Tacoma and yours looks ideal! Thanks!
