I don’t feel like it’s going to work out unless she releases something that really has people talking. I think she should do multichromes or multichromes should have been her first release to get people’s attention and then she could’ve restocked all her regular eyeshadow shadows under the rebrand in a few months or so. She says the clothes are expensive because it’s made in the US which I can respect, BUT the question is: will the clothing company be interesting enough for people to buy? What about the competition on the market? I wish her well but she always seems to be a few steps behind with her brand launches and products.
The 1 innovative thing she did is make it so the pre made palettes (that have multiple rows of shade depth and color) are set up that you can pick a color from each of the rows 1 thru 4 picking from different color families and get a look that will go together no matter what. As someone whos not great at putting colorful eye shadows together i thought it was cool idea. She explained it/demo it in her most recent video. But yeah i agree shes got a lot of catching up to do. I wish her the best though because i actually do think shes a genuine and good person. Only time willl tell...
I wanted to say, eyeshadow palettes and other makeup containers almost always are made of plastic which end up in landfills, so I'm not really sure if single eyeshadows are more wasteful. When you dispose of them later, you only have to dispose the metal container. Getting rid of ABH palettes, on the other hand, means disposing the entire plastic component the shadows are housed in. Plus, for single shadows and the average consumer, you almost always get more product in them, so you don't have to replace them as much.
The Good Molecules is silicone free, so I have a feeling that’s why it doesn’t work for some people. Wayne Goss talks about using silicone primers with silicone foundations and vice versa with water based products. It’s that old adage- oil and water just don’t mix. Loved this collab Hannah 🙌🏻
Oops...it's water based vs. Oil based. That's what messes with foundation. But, I have oily skin and silicone primers make my makeup slide around, so I have to avoid them :/
If you like the Perricone MD you should try the Glossier Skin Tint - same idea 1/3 of the price. Also the thing I love about the new Dior blush packaging is they’ve finally made it smaller and taken out extra brush.
Only thing about the G skin tint is it sweats off in summer. :( I'm wondering if the PMD stuff would work better for the warmer months , I've never tried it.
I have that issue with every mascara I have ever used. I use a clean spoolie to scrape it off gently, after it dries. It's just part of my routine now.
When eyeshadows break, the brands usually send them out again, or give you an exchange for a new one(s), which is great customer service but in the long run generate more waste so I prefer that they be packaged extra carefully the first time around. I think many smaller indie businesses do not have many solid alternatives they can rely on other than extra packaging as of right now. Great video! So happy to see you uploads from you and think your collab with Midas is so beautiful! I missed the first preorder but am eagerly waiting for the 28th.
fatal flaw product: urban decay brow blade. literally so perfect for drawing brow hairs but my shade neutral nana... turns GREEN after wear. there are photos of me with literal green eyebrows after wearing this product for a few hours. no ma'am. this isn't shrek.
Same happened to me! I like the MAC shape and shade because it doesn't turn green and the pen/ink side lasts for a year! But the fatal flaw on that product is the other side - a dumb brow powder that is of no use to anyone lol!
Interesting that the packaging was so wasteful when Marlena was explaining that the matrix system would reduce waste. Hope she sees this and does something about it.
It has a lot of initial waste but after that you can replace shades individually. I would have liked them to have prepackaged versions for those buying the full set in one go, which would help against the waste. I guess it's a bit more difficult production wise but it would be better that way. Then people could replace individually as they go. Also the packaging of their old singles were mostly cardboard and recyclable unlike a lot of other single shadows. I'm curious if the new model has different packaging that way.
I agree, I was going to buy the matrix palette but then Hannah talked about the amount of waste, and I don't buy from places with a ton of waste. Integrity Botanicals does a great job of not using so much waste for higher end products, but I understand the popularity of them...(the single use eye shadows) not against them at all, but there must be a better way to package them...
@@FLdancer00 idk about the new branding but this was the old branding. The packaging was a paper/cardboard like material and there was a small bit of plastic protecting the shadow itself. imgshare.io/image/uBCwY
I just saw an ad for a new maybelline eyeliner that has a barrel like the fenty one. Maybe the maybelline eyeliner has that matte look you are looking for.
My fatal flaw product: Etude House Double Lasting Foundation. I put a tiny bit on my hand to check the shade (matched) but the perfume gave me an instant headache! No way it was going on my face right next to my nose (shudder).
Years ago I had the old original Lioele bb cream had scent and it broke me out after my aunt gave it to me bc it didn't work with her rosacea and skin either. Sad bc I loved how it looked on me. 😭
Uff I used the cushion version of the Etude Double lasting and the formula is so sticky and hard and thick it dried out as soon as it touched the skin and didn't blend out. I looked like I'd stamped circles on my face.
I felt you on the colourpop one. Almost bought it,but saw reviews on how it was just glitter and no. I want to glow like the moon not look like I slept on a craft project
I know! I was so disappointed, because their Disney Villains launch, two of the highlighters are absolutely incredible (Ursula and Maleficent), but I bought other ones and I was so so disappointed. Just glitter. And I like glitter, but I also like highlighter
I would really love to see a video about recycling makeup containers! I went trough my product empties yesterday and realised that many brands do not have instructions on how to recycle their products. I love you and your videos 🥰
I sometimes see that Perricone foundation on the Costco site (for a significantly discounted price), in case you finish it and find yourself missing it
oh thank god; i thought the same thing. when i finished putting together my new makeup geek palette i cringed. it took me almost fifteen minutes to just dig out all the individual little shadows and through all three layers of their packaging and and at the end my desk was literally overflowing with trash.
i've gotten Angelica Nyqvist's collab with devinah cosmetics and they came separatly and none were broken. when i got amy loves makeup collab with ami hearts beauty, they came half shattered and they still havent replaced it for me. so frustrating.
Fatal flaws for me: 1. Cargo Swimmable Blush: I've gotten this twice. The 2nd time, I was completely unable to open the tin container and had to throw it out after literal months of trying to pry it open. 2. This is a little off top but talking about skin care, the recyclable containers Lush uses I just don't get. I'm all about recycling but the face cream and body cream I got 3 weeks ago is somehow leaking up into the crevice/threading of the lid and making its way to the outside of the container, creating an oily layer. Mind you, this sits upright all day so that gravity should be keeping the product inside the container. It's so frustrating and so messy.
Jess Rudolph the packaging for lush rub rub rub shower scrub is annoying too - it’s the same screw top packaging as everything else, but when you open it in the shower, no matter how careful you are, it gets water in it. So disappointing bc if it was in a tube or something it’d be a holy grail product for me.
@@courtr1953 yeah I think the tubs for shower items from lush are just a bad idea all around. I have a lush conditioner bar that I love, and I don't put it in a container, it just chills on a shelf in my shower. And you know what, that works great! Because water just runs right off of it, and doesn't collect and sit in a tin.
I won a Cargo eyeshadow duo in a tin... I had to get my husband to open it for me the first time smh. I can open it now, but I'm debating depotting it anyway
i LOVED that mascara when it first came out, but i swear they reformulated it and now it’s not as good. it gets drier and clumps badly like you said, but i don’t remember that being an issue before they did the full paradise line with the eyeliners and stuff. just odd.
I'm torn because I see marlenas point about rebuying colors and being able to just purchase what you want or need. The fact that it's made in the USA and it's comparable to a lot of other brands price point for singles. But....$15 for the little four pan is kinda high and I didn't see being able to customize that one. I wanted to purchase two purple tones and two green tones because I dont have any. I still wish makeup geek the best but I hope they change the four pans to customize instead of 9 being the lowest amount I could find.
I thought about ordering an empty one and just buying the shadows but it would be more money than the already made one. I could buy a fenty snap shadow with 2 more shades for about the same amount. Can you customize a four pan without buying everything separate and I just missed it?
idea: a fundraiser where subscribers can donate in order to get their name written on your cast:-) proceeds could go towards st. judes or another wonderful charity!
For me it's the Wet N Wild Megaglo highlighter. I love it to death but at the same time the wear time not so great for me and the packaging drives me nuts cause it don't have a proper clapse so it sometimes just opens in my MU pouch.

Swelling can mask a break- I was so darn lucky I didn’t need to have corrective surgery but now I kind of wish I did as my thumb bone area is very volatile and I’m too much of wimp to go back for the stabilising pin! Just make sure if they say 12 weeks you follow through- I was like aww well it feels okay after 8 I’ll cut it off a bit! Needless to say I’m fool and I’m sorry! Minimise use- rest the full arm and pray! Btw congratulations on your launch I’m so pleased for you xxxx
Isn’t the shelf life of that perricone foundation like 6 months? I think Kathleen lights talked about it forever ago. That’s insane If I’m remembering the right product lol
Colourpop jellymuch shadows are pretty but dry up way too quickly. Also NYX Epic Ink liner sometimes the bristles fray on me and then the pen is difficult to use.
The whole makeup geek debacle is so ironic too because I thought the entire concept of the rebranding was to cut down on waste and be more eco friendly. Like.... Suspish lol.
Singles have the benefit of being able to declutter or keep specific shades more easily vs an entire palette. 3 bulky palettes vs one magnetic one where you swap things out. Less weight (sometimes) can mean lower gas consumption from shipping.
@@alyssabrown-carleton6173 Perhaps I misheard her. If that's the case, then I stand corrected, suspicions quelled lol. I'm very interested to hear about a comparison of packaging then!
@@SuperStarr817 I definitely agree, and I suppose the main contributor to the waste is in the initial purchase, but the way Smokey described it made it sound like a whole lotta plastic.
Hey! Helpful tip with shiny liners! So you do the line with the liquid, wait for it to dry, and then go over it with a cheap pencil eyeliner. You don’t need the coverage, just the matte, so once you go over it with a pencil it should look pretty matte :) I’ve done that forever
Totally agree about the Rosé highlighter! (I'm so excited to own a makeup product that you, a true professional, also have). Itself so hard for me to get product on my brush, though it works worlds better than the ulta highlighter I have. Ily Hannah!! 💕
If people aren’t buying loads of palettes w/ lots of duplicate shades though singles are nearly always still less wasteful. And most people aren’t getting huge quantities at once🤷🏻♀️
Agreed. Mindful makeup purchasing makes such a difference, and just buying a few single shadows at a time seems great to me. I have a magnetic palette, got it specifically so I could always be able to only buy shades I'm sure I'll use. Thus no need to buy whole palettes ever again hopefully! Am determined to stick to it.
Hey beautiful❤️ PSA: the no foundation foundation last time I checked was on sale on the hautelook site for $30 although I’m pretty sure it was only in a light shade :( but for half the price it might be worth it☺️
I have a bit of a problem with your blush/packaging commentary. The Dior blush contains 1.3 oz of product, compared with 0.51 oz of product in the Cover FX blush. It’s a huge amount of product and they put it into a small container without excess packaging. Not hating-I do love your videos-I just wish you had looked to see how much product was in the container before criticizing its size/economy. Have a great day!
My makeup item w a fatal flaw is the Milk Makeup setting powder, it’s a nice powder like I really like it but the mesh packaging is sooo hard to get anything out like I have to punch the powder to get it to come out
The Pericone serum foundation might be dupeable with NYX Total Control Drop Foundation. I use the NYX and it's watery and light. I have dry skin and it doesn't emphasize any texture on me. It also is under $15!
I agree, but at the same time I feel like most people that buy singles aren't going to throw $200 at a massive single eyeshadow pallet (unless they're a makeup artist), but would instead buy a couple at a time until they have constructed a palette they like. I have some MUG and some colourpop singles that make up one 24 pan pallet that I've been using for the last 4 years, started with 7 MUG then eventually got to the 24 with colourpop and i would confidently say i have created MUCH less waste then most people buying "normal" palettes. :)
@@bellasmith8821 I agree. Us "normal" makeup users, don't buy palettes every month. I have ONE palette. 😂 Abh soft glam. The day I'm done using that, some people have made more makeup waste than I will in my entire life. And I am not dissing makeup collectors in any way! ❤️ Just wanted to give my two cents and shock people by telling I have one palette! 🤣🤣

My MUG single shadows came in individually wrapped packaging too. But it was paper so I just put it in with the recycling. The quality of the shadow was worth the trouble to me.
Too faced actually has some decent products but she’s a no no for me...so I guess the fatal flaw is that sucky people run it

As someone whos not great at putting colorful eye shadows together i thought it was cool idea. She explained it/demo it in her most recent video. But yeah i agree shes got a lot of catching up to do. I wish her the best though because i actually do think shes a genuine and good person. Only time willl tell...
actually, the formula of the new shadows is different. If you have some of the older shadows you'll notice the difference.
I know this was two years ago but I think she meant the packaging not just the little component lol
You are correct! Lab muffin did a whole video on why foundation clumps and slides around. :)
:( I'm wondering if the PMD stuff would work better for the warmer months , I've never tried it.
keyholes aww that sucks it doesn’t work for you. Skin tint is my go to summer foundation
Essence lash princess mascara! It goes on so beautifully and doesn’t clump but it transfers to my lower lid almost immediately :(
Courtney Russ I’m so glad someone else has this problem since everyone raves so much about that mascara!
About a month or two ago they came out with a waterproof version, I have oily, watery eyes and it's worked wonderfully for me.
Emily O.R omg thank you for the info! Im trying it as soon as I can get my hands on it
I have to use the waterproof version for the same reason. It works perfectly.
I was about to say the same thing!
fatal flaw product: urban decay brow blade. literally so perfect for drawing brow hairs but my shade neutral nana... turns GREEN after wear. there are photos of me with literal green eyebrows after wearing this product for a few hours. no ma'am. this isn't shrek.
Agree! Also they don't have grey/black for us with black hair... DISGUSTANG. it had so much potential
Omg! Yes! The dark shade was literally the only one that worked. Every other one had an odd tint to them...yea nope
NOOOOOO! 😦
Same happened to me! I like the MAC shape and shade because it doesn't turn green and the pen/ink side lasts for a year! But the fatal flaw on that product is the other side - a dumb brow powder that is of no use to anyone lol!
Same!! Wtf is THAT?!?! And it's like a legit SWAMP green!!
I’m kinda shook but
Dior blush- 1.3oz
Coverfx blush duo- 0.51oz
Jackson W so glad someone else pointed this out. Packaging can sometimes be deceiving.
Is that o.51oz for each side though?
Da Asha Zireael that’s a very good question. The Sephora website doesn’t specify.
@@isthatjackson i feel like it would have to be because if not then that is a thiiiin layer of blush. But who knows honestly.
@@isthatjackson i looked it up too and i think its for the whole thing. Which is crazy lol
I really wish she had shown pictures, I can't imagine a single shadow having so much packaging that it upsets people.
Is it not recyclable?
@@FLdancer00 idk about the new branding but this was the old branding. The packaging was a paper/cardboard like material and there was a small bit of plastic protecting the shadow itself. imgshare.io/image/uBCwY
the crossover we never knew we needed but totally deserved
Try setting the shiny eyeliner with a black eyeshadow. Works everytime
Oh noooooo!
I have the same complaint with Etude House. I use their collagen essence and the fragrance is so intense.
@@juliakatherine5077 My Slay All Day is super-strongly scented... I accidentally inhaled it in one of my videos... it was hilarious!
I use my finger when using the Sol body glow and it works perfect. The formula is the same as the supershock highlighters
If the shadow comes broken then people would complain🤷🏼♀️.
Very true, she's probably erring on the side of caution to not need to replace product
i've gotten
Angelica Nyqvist's collab with devinah cosmetics and they came separatly and none were broken. when i got amy loves makeup collab with ami hearts beauty, they came half shattered and they still havent replaced it for me. so frustrating.
You're so lucky your nose isn't problematic. My nose HATES makeup. 😂
Kourtney Bowden My nose CONSTANTLY peels so I just use what’s left on my sponge and barely dab it. It sucks and my dermatologist can’t figure it out 😠
@@NunyaNomi I just dont even wear foundation, cause I give up.
@@NunyaNomi my nose does the exact same! i can't even touch it without it starting to peel TT ^ TT so wish i knew what caused it;;;;
She is soooo lucky. My nose also HATES makeup. It’s so problematic
Fatal flaws for me:
I got a Cargo eye shadow in a Boxycharm or something, and I loved the color, but I could not get the tin open.
Okay makeup fatal flaw goes to champagne pop, such a beautiful highlighter and like everyone I know that’s had one has had it shatter lol
the l'oreal lash paradise is just as messy, but tolerable considering the price
nicole x Yess! And after a while the brush becomes so caked with mascara and becomes hard & messy to use.
i LOVED that mascara when it first came out, but i swear they reformulated it and now it’s not as good. it gets drier and clumps badly like you said, but i don’t remember that being an issue before they did the full paradise line with the eyeliners and stuff. just odd.
Yay, so glad you posted.. needed a mood booster today ❤️
The new makeup geek relaunch is too expensive in my opinion. I hope your wrist gets better!
You dont have to get the palettes and individual shadows are cheaper and great quality.
@@bobbiobanion7706 you can get your own pans though, that is what I did. I guess I just love their shadows no matter what and just get what I want 😁
I thought about ordering an empty one and just buying the shadows but it would be more money than the already made one. I could buy a fenty snap shadow with 2 more shades for about the same amount. Can you customize a four pan without buying everything separate and I just missed it?
@@bobbiobanion7706 I have a cheaper colourpop empty palette that I use for mine, plus some z palettes that I bought a while back.
I’ve seen the pericone foundation at Marshall’s
idea: a fundraiser where subscribers can donate in order to get their name written on your cast:-) proceeds could go towards st. judes or another wonderful charity!
For me it's the Wet N Wild Megaglo highlighter. I love it to death but at the same time the wear time not so great for me and the packaging drives me nuts cause it don't have a proper clapse so it sometimes just opens in my MU pouch.
Whenever I watch your videos I feel like I’m hanging with an older sister in her dorm listening to her talk about makeup and other stuff I don’t really understand but enjoying the conversation nonetheless (sorry that’s so specific lmao) I just think you have a really good vibe :)
I love Julia too! I found her channel through her series showing all the best yellow eyeshadows, blue, etc. And I loooove her commentary too. So good.
*perricone foundation: " I cost 60 dollars!"
*la mer foundation: "that's cute, now hold my beer"
I watched Jen Gerards review of your pallet and I’m so so so super excited to get it 💕💕💕💕
Choosing between which one to watch first when I saw my notifications was the hardest decision I've made in a hot minute
Products that are perfect-
Smokey_glow x Midas collab
I can't wait to get my pallet and highlighters. I just can't!
I realized when traveling with single eyeshadows it breaks and i had powder everywhere so may be thats why makeup geek was so much protective
Este Lauder Double Wear, the formulation is perfect for me, except...it doesn't come with a pump!
Boo Nichols the Mac foundation pump fits that bottle! Still for that price, you shouldn’t have to pay more money for a pump.
@@courtr1953 agreed and I did buy a pump for it, but...it should just have one! LoL.
I don't get this concept of buying your own pump for foundation. I mean what do you do when it gets over? Buy another pump? Or use the pump and contaminate the new product? How do you thoroughly clean a pump...silly silly silly. Really.
I love the lash paradise from l'oreal mascara except how clumpy it is, it makes the bottle messy and it always gets on my skin when I apply it
I also received that Good Molecules primer and I haven’t noticed any separation on my nose but I will check it next time 🤔 I really like that primer, it’s so hydrating
I honestly really enjoy the Ordinary Serum Foundation, which I believe is $8. I’ve spent $50 on a foundation before, never again!
That's my favourite foundation!
So glad you two collabed together!! Hope you both do this like once a month it's fun and I love both of you! Y'all have great personalities and I love the videos you both create 💖

Folks we've got another one... "Worth your wild". Just as cute as Dofa and would be a cute lipstick name 😂❤️
It would be a cute song name too! I honestly kind of want to start saying it!
I wanted to comment it but then i felt bad because of dofa lol
It's so poetic! I love Hannah sfm #glowstix
I searched the comments to see if anyone else noticed! Hannah is that perfect example of someone who is highly intelligent, but has that tiny gap in general knowledge that is only noticeable due to her intelligence. So cute 😂
@@niamhneeve5900 I did too but didn't see any comments lol. I absolutely adore her, got nervous commenting thinking people would accuse me of being shady but she's seriously the cutest. And if Dofa can be an eyeshadow, "worth your wild" has to be something!
Let me sign that cast virtually lol
Rimmel Stay Matte powder is so bomb, BUT THE PACKAGING 😤
i love the color of this shirt on you it looks great with your complexion and hair color 💖
i love julias channel. she is extremely entertaining and so much fun to watch. I get excited when I see u and Julia have posted a video. love both u guys. I hope u could recycle all that stuff makeup geek sent with their products. that's a shame and they should find a better way 2 do that.
They always have the perricone products at Costco! I just got my replacement foundation and
Ordered the blush, bronzer and concealer to try all for the price of one of the foundations retail!
The way you feel about the too faced mascara is how I feel about the urban decay perversion mascara SO MUCH PRODUCT COMES OUT
Not gonna lie... when I first saw the thumbnail I thought you were going to be talking about makeup that has actually killed people. 🤣😂 I watch too much true crime... 🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
Oh Hannah- I had broken/ not broken needed surgery not need surgery and in cast- splint for 12 weeks on wrist 3 years ago! I feel that darn pain and ache! Mri showed up the break 2 weeks after the my stupid fall!
That's horrible!!!
Marshmallow fireside is my absolute favorite scent from b&bw! I can’t quit that scent. I have EVERYTHING in that scent 🤣
I know. I just finished my candle and they didn't have any when i went in.
I think she said that the palette was old ones before the rebrand and she wanted to use them before ordering new ones
Alyssa Brown-Carleton exactly
This is so cool, I just discovered Julia a few days ago and have been binging her vids!
My fatal flaw product: any lipstick with a strong fragrance : Guerlain: looking at you especially!
Love the placement of your palette box behind you - looks like you have a little bun going on! 😘😂
Hey beautiful❤️ PSA: the no foundation foundation last time I checked was on sale on the hautelook site for $30 although I’m pretty sure it was only in a light shade :( but for half the price it might be worth it☺️
Do you say, “Worth my wild”?
You crack me up 😂😂😂 (it’s “worth my while”, just fyi)
OMG u and julia are literally the only beauty youtubers i watch! this is so epic
It is pretty sad how much packaging the mg pallette came with. It seems wrong considering that the point is to consume less with single shadows.
I know, I'm also surprised that it is coming from Marlena too. I always feel like she was really aware of waste/packing stuff, kinda sad tbh :/
Marlenas vision suits the "normal" person, who doesn't collect makeup and its suitable for artists too. And I am not dissing makeup collectors in any way! ❤️ Just wanted to give my two cents and shock people by telling I have one palette! 🤣🤣

on the object of single shadows, essence has great new singles, both matte and shimmers!! I've got like six of them and they are wonderful for travelling 👌👌
The Sol Rosé highlighter was the first highlighter I ever bought when I first got into makeup this year and I weep over how difficult it is to apply when there's so much of it and it's all RIGHT THERE PLEASE JUST GET ON MY FACE
Hannah have you tried putting black eyeshadow over the fly liner? Love your channel!
I would defs try scratching the top layer off that highlighter with a spoolie!
You can put black eyeshadow on the liner and it takes the shine away and wears nice! I usually do that but it is another step but would be worth it if you really like that liner. 💕

The colourpop single shadow pallets are like that too. I got a 24 pan curated pallet. So much plastic, and unicartons.
My MG singles were in packaging that can be recycled. No plastic. I appreciate that.

Hi Hannah. I love your videos and I’m interested in buying your palette. I don’t know if it obvious but what time will the palette be available?❤️❤️❤️
I love the Perricone mascara! Always wanted to try the foundation.
Try putting matte black eyeshadow over the eyeliner, it should help the shine
The only way for me to get any use from the sol body shimmer/highlight is using my fingers
For the sol highlighter, it may be possible to scratch a bit with your nail or something to get some product in a loose powder form and then use it with a brush
Then again, I cba that's a lot of work
My MUG single shadows came in individually wrapped packaging too. But it was paper so I just put it in with the recycling. The quality of the shadow was worth the trouble to me.
