- Welcome to Snips Movies, where owner and curator Dave Wain is on hand to take you behind the scenes at one of the last remaining video stores in the UK.
Camera / Lighting: Jake Shaw
Look out for episode two, where we discover that Dave has finally bought a half decent microphone...

This is a great insight into one of the very last bastions of what many believe to be a dying trade. Decades later we see that this "dying" sentiment is perhaps erroneous. Snips is indeed a pillar of the community, and rightly so. 16k titles and still going strong. As an independent, swimming against the current of multi-media moguls that exclaim the new paradigm, Snips stands firm, insouciant ...zen!
Insouciant!!!!!
Write it down!!! I would also make a note of it but I can't be bothered! 😐@@snipsmovies
Great to see The Greasy Strangler getting scoped out. Went to a screening of it about a month ago at HOME, Manchester - was happily amazed at how busy the screening was.
Great video. Really enjoyed hearing you talking about films and showcasing the video store. Looking forward to more videos. All the best to you.
Thanks Dave. First effort. Hopefully a little more polished in the weeks to come.
@@snipsmovies Looks and sounds really good!
Love this. My brother lives over the river in Liverpool so next time I come visit him I'll definitely come on over to visit this Mecca of movies
Oh nice! More than welcome
Your shop and movie choice just keeps getting better Dave, keep up the good work!
Thanks Mike!
This is a video store I can get behind. 🔥
a thing of beauty mate
Long time coming but just starting this series now.
Great so far.

The Movie House in Kidderminster is still going, it's been there since 1982. There is a video about it on UA-cam called 'The Last Movie House'. I'm curious about the other stores that are still going. :)
Dear Video Store Man,
Thank you Mr Dave for the tour of your store. Mr Dave you have such a great collection and it is indeed a paradise for the movie lover. I look forward to watching more of your videos in the near future.
Mr Dave has curated something special here with his movie library. It is great that we can rent out such titles as "Banjo". Films like these are often overlooked and deserve the same appreciation as mainstream Hollywood releases. Thank you Mr Dave.
Mr Dave, please could you give the BearWolf 🐻❄ 🐺 a shoutout in your next video?
Yours sincerely,
BearWolf
Great video Dave. Been following you for a while now. Still hope to visit one day. Keep up the great work dude
Thank you much!
The segments were absolutely perfect. Amazing maiden voyage, Dave! I can't wait to see the next. No pressure. Maybe a little. But it's friendly!
Ahhhhh Stephanie! Shut the comments section down. We're done! That's all the feedback I need! Thanks so much, it's hugely appreciated!
You are 100 percent right about Lone star. Sayles Silver is awesome. Love the channel it's nice to see a show like your there aren't many like it here in the U.S.
Thanks so much. I appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment.
Fantastic video, mate. It's great to see people still renting films and somewhere still offering the service.
You're not to far away from me, I'll have to have a trip over at some point and check it out.
Keep the content coming!
Thank you sir! Subbed to your channel there too. Great stuff!
Love that you're doing these!
Humbled you took the time to watch. Thanks!
@@snipsmovies Can't argue with the Poultrygeist rec at all, but my dark horse Troma fav is Alien Blood
@@DeathbombarcOh cool! Own it, but never seen it. I shall put it right to the top of my watchlist. Thanks for the recommendation.
Subscribed, can't wait for more episodes....goddamn, Snips looks so COZY...
Ha! Thanks for subscribing.
Loved this. Already my go to for movie/documentary recommendations❤
Too kind Paul. Thanks so much!
I grew up in Bebington and my Grandma lived on Cross Lane. I have fond memories of Snips. Did your old man used to run the store? I hadn’t realised how incredible your collection is. Full of stock like Criterion remasters, great job. Bebington seems to be going through a revival, with lots of great small businesses open on Village Road too. Good luck and thanks for the vid from Australia
Thanks for the kind words Andrew, and yeah, that was my Dad. Snips has evolved over the last 20 years in response to the increasingly apparent shortcomings of streaming, so with every passing year the archive gets more and more eclectic! Hope Australia is treating you well. Take care!
This video was heaven.
Do you have a system - that episode I want to see. I go by label and release number but have edited (& fucked up ) the order by doing release number but with slip covered editions shoved to the end but in release order, then steelbooks, then boxsets and then Big Box single editions followed by 4k's edited the same way. The labels are also alpha numeric so 88, 101, Arrow etc
Great first episode Dave. Looking forward to more.
That label spotlight was a great idea😉😂👍
Thanks Jeff! Some bits will work and some won't, but I think this segment should have legs.
Great video, looking forward to future episodes … visiting Snips is the highlight of my week … totally ❤ all things Troma (yeah I’ll be renting at least 1 Troma movie next week)
Amazing! Thanks for watching Tony!
Really enjoyed this! Lots of cool picks and that store looks amazing.
Thanks so much for watching!
Brilliant video Dave. Can’t wait for the next one!
Thanks Kyle! Really appreciate you watching.
Absolutely here for this Dave 🎉
Far too kind Elliot.
Talking about the "diversity" of people's rental choices while holding up a copy of Birth Of A Nation, that's great 🤣🤣
Awesome video and great films. I haven't of Summer of '84 before but it sounds interesting (I've just now ordered the BD via Amazon). Looking forward to more videos 🔥👍💿📼
Thanks Bruce. Cheers for watching!
YES DAVE!
Great video! What do you use to keep track of inventory/rentals that are checked out?
I use an incredibly advanced piece of technology... erm, paper and a pen! Sounds crazy, but sometimes simple is best!
Great video, Dave, although in the Troma recommendations you did mispronounce Class of Nuke 'Em High as Tromeo & Juliet. Happy to help 😂😂
Gah! I'm always doing that! ;)
Only five video stores left in the UK, Dave? Wow. :(
It might be fewer. A sad state of affairs.
Gwed 👑👑👑👑
Riki-Oh is phenomenal. Really need to dig my copy out.
Isn't it just! So pleased to see people so hungry to watch it.
I'm based in Liverpool love to pop down & feature you on my channel
More than welcome to Rob!
I’m new to this channel so I think maybe you should elaborate is this a video store? Is this your basement? Is this your house? I’m not really sure I enjoyed the video but for us new people show the store a little bit more. Thank you.
But does Kenny really live in a Movie Palace?
As a contributor of the section "It's Gaz" in episode 2 Kenny. I also want to know if I was indeed in Dave's basement or perhaps, his house (God forbid, his bedroom), following a re-enactment of Eli Roth's "Hostel" whereby I escaped and was able to cry for help, by way of a UA-cam video comment...that I am still typing...stop me when you know I'm ok, mum...
Adjust your tracking was a yank doc sadly
So glad to have stumbled across you on UA-cam! I'm not far away in Liverpool, great to have something like this close.
Oh really!! So cool. Thanks for watching
This is quality content, watch it grow. Subbed 🤌
