Great demo, if you're looking to buy this, my opinion is that it's one of the most versatile distortion/drive/boost pedals I've ever come across. It can do it all.
He does the best reviews ever! Despite the face he does when playing, and the lisp that he has, the reviews are always very complete. Thanks for this one too!
I use this through a late '70's Fender Concert amp set on razor blade clean and a strat. I own 8 different distortion pedals and this one makes me want to sell all my others. Extremely versatile !
I just don't understand why people will demo a distortion pedal with the base tone slightly dirty? It should be a totally CLEAN base tone to get the true tone of the dam pedal. Rock on!
A lot of people use a slight crunch tone on an amp before the distortion pedal when they have access to more than one amp. It helps to let the harmomics sing out. But yes for most of us we have our clean amp and the the pedal provides any breakup.
I just bought this pedal. It has one of the most sensitive output knobs I have ever experienced. I got this to replace my MXR '78 custom badass distortion. It's far superior to that.
@@angelcarrilfernandez1537 No. And this post was 7 years ago. I didn't know what I was talking about. LOL Their BOTH shitty. LOL I've been using a Waza Craft Blues Driver for the past 5 years. All I need.
Great review. Great pedal, sounding very amp-like and minus the tendency to create oscillations other distortion pedals can produce at higher gain levels.
How would this one do for some 70s prog rock, Rush style? I don’t mean to copy the sound, but I want to get that same feeling. Looking for something versatile since I can’t afford too many new toys
Im Going To Buy One Of These Its So versatile especially for studio work. I Want to Thank You For The Excellent Video And Great ! Playing ; Rock On Harry all the best : ) jcm
US $300 ?? Why ? Laws of your country ? Here we only have to pay 60 % of the value of the product, in tax, so ask to write on delivery low values box , the pedal came as if it cost $ 20.00 , hahaha , but only this to make worthwhile .
yep we have limited access to $... so you have to make an online suscripcion to the goverment and they give you 300$ to buy online per year.... (so sad :S)
It's funny you mention the dark matter, I just got rid of it! a month ago It's a nice transparent overdrive, works great after a clean boost but the M75 is just more versatile IMO
I think this is the best sounding distortion mxr has put out so far. Very respectful of the guitar's tone. Very versatile.
Great demo, if you're looking to buy this, my opinion is that it's one of the most versatile distortion/drive/boost pedals I've ever come across. It can do it all.
I wasn´t expecting that voice after those wacky faces lol
LMAO
Yeah he's so sweet
I came for the pedal and stayed for the wacky faces! Badass! \m/
Haha. Yeah..that was odd,lol!
Paul Rudd+Neil Patrick Harris=Harry Maes. I got this pedal yesterday and love it- Extremely versatile.
+Patrick Sullivan True story. With the Cristolph Waltz accent.
He does the best reviews ever! Despite the face he does when playing, and the lisp that he has, the reviews are always very complete. Thanks for this one too!
This pedal can do it all. I personally like it around noon to 1 o clock. Sounds sooooo delicious. Sounds so badass through my AC30.
who needs a name estevez I can’t wait to hear it on my ac15
Everything you play sound BADASS. I bought the cheapy Digitech Screamin Blues after your video - and its an awesome pedal.
This one sold it to me. Great review! I’m getting my M75 this week.
This is a great distortion pedal. Been on my board for the past 5 years consistently.
No matter which pedal he reviews sounds amazing. \m/
I use this through a late '70's Fender Concert amp set on razor blade clean and a strat. I own 8 different distortion pedals and this one makes me want to sell all my others. Extremely versatile !
i love the knob that changes the humbucker to single coil, i have one in my guitar and it's way too useful
Claudio Torres which knob is that?
I just don't understand why people will demo a distortion pedal with the base tone slightly dirty? It should be a totally CLEAN base tone to get the true tone of the dam pedal. Rock on!
Probably because gain pedals like those based on Guvnor and Rat circuits sound best with an amp that is on the edge of breakup.
A lot of people use a slight crunch tone on an amp before the distortion pedal when they have access to more than one amp. It helps to let the harmomics sing out. But yes for most of us we have our clean amp and the the pedal provides any breakup.
Another great and reasonably priced pedal. It’s a keeper.
Pretty "Badass" alright! Plus, you can't go wrong with the Dimarzio Transition pickups either. They are badass as well. I love mine. Nice demo!
I just bought this pedal. It has one of the most sensitive output knobs I have ever experienced. I got this to replace my MXR '78 custom badass distortion. It's far superior to that.
Stephen Arseneau a Guvnor is superior to a DS-1, which I think both the Super Badass and 78 distortion are respectively based on.
78 is the best?
@@angelcarrilfernandez1537 No. And this post was 7 years ago. I didn't know what I was talking about. LOL Their BOTH shitty. LOL I've been using a Waza Craft Blues Driver for the past 5 years. All I need.
Harry, your reviews kill my wallet. very pleased with this pedal though!
I didn't know Paul Rudd played guitar.
Dude that wasy first thought! they are identical
Ahahahhaha you're right
I just got it and i love it
I'm using an Axe Fx set to a Bogner XTC model
I vouch for this. It sounds bloody good.
I just bought this pedal today. Very very satisfied! Fits my blues style and harder thrash metal style Hahahah
Great review. Great pedal, sounding very amp-like and minus the tendency to create oscillations other distortion pedals can produce at higher gain levels.
Awesom guitar playing for a distortion pedal demo. 😎
1:43
Is it not a very clean channel to begin with?
It is allready very crunchy without the pedal.
That's how these pedals should be run, just slightly breaking up on the bridge
How would this one do for some 70s prog rock, Rush style? I don’t mean to copy the sound, but I want to get that same feeling.
Looking for something versatile since I can’t afford too many new toys
Nigga buy it lol it goes so hard
Awesome pedal...very versatile. Great demo bro!!!
Great vid how do u set your amp I got this pedal just can’t quite get the tone I like I you sound great any advice would help thanx
I'm playing a Yamaha Pacifica 510v. I modified it with Transition pickups from DiMarzio so it basically is a 520v. ;)
Nice review, Thank you ! Philip.
Great playing Paul Rudd
Great Demo, but I would suggest a colored selector switch so we can see what where :D
This guy is really good dude
first of all do not cut mids for metal second of all use a base clean tone not dirty
Says who?
Im Going To Buy One Of These Its So versatile especially for studio work. I Want to Thank You For The Excellent Video And Great ! Playing ; Rock On Harry all the best : ) jcm
Does it look like the Marshall JH-1 Jackhammer?
I want to play rock and blues...this will sound great for both
I want to sounds like foo fighter, what pedals I should buy?
JHS Bonsai
Zieke skills Harry
Overdriving the recording chain somewhere....
AudioWonderland definitely..
This guy have very good wolf hoffman impression 😀 andhe can also play 😀
Sounds epic!
Thanks!
Harry Maes che ampli utilizzi?
Jason I just got one u won't need to push this. Trust me. It has a lot of gain on tap
how about clean up sound volume down on guitar?
To buy this one of course !
Great review!!
Anyone knows what guitar is that?
I believe it's a high end Yamaha Pacifica with Dimarzio Transition pickups
Makes me sick how fucking good he can play!!! 🤘🏻
I've heard enough ! I'm selling my '78 distortion right now !
+RoyvanRikken lol me too
Doet me meteen denken aan een lekker jaren 80 drive soundje.
Im using this pedal as overdrive after viewing this video.
This or MI Audio Super Crunch Box?
this!!
What amp are you using?
This pedal or the TCE Dark Matter?
Help? Anyone?
sam Deuda MXR all the way !
No, just straight in the Axe Fx II.
2016 2017 2018 best dist ever
Lucky for you Americans and Europeans who pay $ 99 for this pedal, here in Brazil it costs $ 200. Waiting for my international card to buy at ebay.
hahaha in venezuela you pay like 2000$ for this hahahaha cheers my friend
Graças a nossos governantes... jajaja
consegui comprar o meu pelo e-bay, talvez você também consiga...
I could but we have only 300$ per year to buy online so I must use those 300$ wisely my friend
US $300 ?? Why ? Laws of your country ? Here we only have to pay 60 % of the value of the product, in tax, so ask to write on delivery low values box , the pedal came as if it cost $ 20.00 , hahaha , but only this to make worthwhile .

everyone seems to love this pedal but it sounds like a muffled amp in real life to me
What you aren't seeing in this video are the eq's and compressors in the chain
+timripple i would love to see the full chain and amp settings
have you actually tried one? youtube sometimes distorts sound quite heavily.
will check that out mate. I've tried dozens of distortion stompboxes and the M75 does it for me so far
It's funny you mention the dark matter, I just got rid of it! a month ago It's a nice transparent overdrive, works great after a clean boost but the M75 is just more versatile IMO
Almost has a pre amp sound with the mid range turned down
Ampli?
This pedal does not blend well with other pedals, distortion is useless after 12, it has clarity and mids issue
he looks like the ant man guy :O
+Nicolás Tamayo lol.. Paul Rudd... my first thought as well.
lol you made me laugh non stop. Yes indeed, now that you have mentioned about it, he does look like Paul Rudd. (the ant guy)
If only I heard more chords than shreds.
prefer this than pinnacle wampler (way much expensive also \0/
This is way better imo.
just killer 80s distortion is all , nothing new really? unless you get time machine and send back too the 80s when i might of actually cared.
What the hell is he looking at?
Great fu#$ing demo.
Reviews like this are completely worthless without knowing the output and type of pickups used.
why would you want a guitar to sound like this?
The fullbore metal is way better
Fullbore metal sounds like shit
Very scoop
Thanks!
