- Hello everyone! In this video I explain how to change the engine oil on your 2011 - 2014 Hyundai Sonata YF. In this video I'm working on a 2011 Hyundai Sonata YF. However, the Hyundai YF sixth generation covers models from 2009 to 2014. Recommended oil is 5w-20. Please check your owners manual regarding specific engine oil levels and types for your engine or you can use the method in the video to measure your exhaust oil level.

The 2.4 liter non turbo engine takes 4.9 liters of engine oil. This also covers American GLS and SE models. I recommend using a synthetic oil for better engine protection.

Hey everyone! We all know how important it is to change our oil. Tell me what's your favorite oil and why. I'd love to hear your thoughts and opinions.
Feel free to leave a tip 😊💲VENMO: @GarageDynamics
Shell Rotella T1 is a god send for vintage motorcycles. You can get straight weight oil and its under 20 dollars a gallon!
@@Flyboy-rz4db Oh wow! Never knew that! I use Shell transmission fluid for the Mercedes and it's the best stuff ever!
Most of us know how to change oil but two things. I'm creating a spreadsheet with all my cars and inputting toque specs as well as sizes of wrenches so I don't have to get up and down getting the right tools. Also, it's cold outside and i don't feel like spending hours out there looking at the right tools and specs. Thanks for the refresher and info
You are the best teacher for DIYers. Thanks for this detailed video. Explained everything .
Excellent and thorough. Wish you had one on changing the transmission fluid on Hyundai sonata.
How do you dispose of the old oil and oil filter?
It’s so easy to change my own oil instead of going to take 5 to do an oil change hate spinning money better than doing the job yourself to save money
I agree with you 100% Lemy Jean-Joseph! It's very rewarding as well :)

What mm oil socket was that ?
Hello Ex Pat Conn, Depending on which filter you use it's either a 76mm or 79mm socket.
@@GarageDynamics sometimes my wife will get factory oil filters and sometimes I’ll get Fram or Napa so in the case of different sizes is there a oil filter socket kit that is worth buying I’ve looked on eBay and Amazon and I’ve done a read the reviews and the reviews are not good can you recommend a good kit or set and where can you get them auto stores don’t sell them and if they do it’s usually the wrong size thank you
@@expatconn7242 Oh gotcha. In that case I would just buy the filter sockets that fits the oil filters you use. I have 4 socket filters that I just bought at the parts store over the years when I needed to match to the oil filter I was using. Sometimes they don't fit perfectly and will slip. If that's the case, just put a damp paper towel over the bottom of the oil filter and then put on the filter socket. This tightens up the gap and gives enough grip to remove the filter. I hope this helps. Cheers!
