Firstly, let's not defame a real hero who sacrificed everything for our political benefits.
Savarkar opposed caste system and opened temples for every caste people to enter.
He was the first to ask for complete Independence.
He joined India house along with many revolutionary patriots like Madam cama, VN Chatterjee and many others to learn from Irish and Italian revolutionaries.
Many freedom fighters like bhagath Singh, Azad, Subhash Chandra Bose got inspired by the book of Savarkar "the Indian war of Independence 1857".
He even inspired many young revolutionaries like Madanlal Dhingra who assasinated Curzon Wyllie(who was responsible for Jallian wallah bagh massacre).
He got 2 life sentences for 50 years in Andaman jail which was living hell.
His term started with 6 months of solitary confinement where he can't talk to anyone and can only look at dead bodies hanged to death.
In these insufferable conditions , to help nation he wrote mercy petitions to get himself out.
Even in jail he was treated as leader by other prisoners and called him as "bade Babu".
He was a barrister and he knew his rights.
He never asked for mercy, he wrote petitions to know his status as a prisoner.
He did whatever he can to get out not for self good but for country.
In kalapani, in conditions we can't even imagine, after a whole day of hardships and brutality, after returning to his cell he would write poems on Bharath
